This is the only game thread I'll start for this season since I'm from Toronto.


No injuries, I promise.


No DeRozan should help us since the Spurs usually struggle guarding him and for us Kawhi and Manu are probable.

Manu Ginobili (back spasms) is probable for tonight’s Spurs-Raptors game.

Pau Gasol (fracture, left fourth metacarpal) and Tony Parker (left foot pain) remain out.

Ok I understand that Tony isn't making this trip but is there any word on Tony's foot?

That would be good news!

Even though DeRozan usually plays out of his mind versus the Spurs, I actually think his absence, combined with Patterson's return (maybe their 2nd most indispensable player due to the construction of their roster), boosts their chances of winning this game.

Their best five man lineups in the Lowry-DeRozan era, always feature Lowry and the four primary bench players, because it means the ball is in Lowry's hands more and there's more spacing and generally a better defender alongside him.

They're also rested, have been struggling for a while and are coming off an inexplicable home loss to the Suns, so they'll likely be more motivated for this game than the Spurs, who usually struggle in Toronto.

Lowry usually struggles against big/physical guards so if Pop rotates Danny/Kawhi on him it's probably checkmate. Ross is the only guy that could go off but he's most likely going to have Kawhi or Danny guarding him at least in the 4th quarter. Maybe there could be a CoJo revenge game if Patty is guarding him & Lee is playing center.:lol

In fairness I hadn't started one in a very long time and figured my Toronto one would be the last of the season since I'm from here. No more from me this season, but damn I was looking forward to seeing this version of Kawhi in person.

Defense looks amazing right now. Half-court offense is a work in progress but if they play out in transition like this while keeping up the defense Manu/Mills can take care of getting the team going.
