Re: Spurs reported interested in Stanley Johnson
I wanna get rid of Green for him, but Green has games where he's locked in an everything falls an his defense is on point.

I'm 2k17, he looks like defensive type guy, going by his stats. Can hit a open 3..... Greens replacement.

He can't shoot..he's worse than Simmons, overall, right now..

Ya, he's a solid defender, but so is Simmons..
I would take Johnson on the Spurs for his potential, but it's a move that could pay off in 2-3 years IMO, not for this season..

Re: Spurs reported interested in Stanley Johnson
can't really recall his play.
i prefer the spurs make a move though...
-
Re: Spurs reported interested in Stanley Johnson
Spurs aren't going to replace any starters or key bench players..the only move they could potentially make is for a Simmons or Anderson replacement..
Parker/Green/Leonard/Aldridge/Gasol/Manu/Mills/Dedmon or Lee(depending on the matchup) with a few minutes going to Simmons/Anderson is going to be the rotation..any potential move would be for the future or to replace Simmons/Anderson as the 4th wing..
-
Re: Spurs reported interested in Stanley Johnson
Spurs don't trade Simmons before letting him play the warriors again.

According to Pistons fans, he's regressed this year.
Interesting that the spurs would be interesred.

Re: Spurs reported interested in Stanley Johnson
Only If detroit would take Anderson for Johnson.

Re: Spurs reported interested in Stanley Johnson
It's good to hear RC is making calls... but he's not going to part with a rotation player and that is probably the extent of the phone calls.

Don't be surprised. Anyone really think Spurs don't make calls every year to try to improve their team? PATFO are never content.. tbh... I'd be shocked if they didn't field and take calls every year. They are just more disciplined than most teams and can be because they are always right there year after year in regards to contending. Just because they don't deal often, doesn't mean they don't take and make calls.
And I'm sure Spurs have a price on every player on the roster outside of Kawhi, Tony, Manu and DeJounte ( maybe).

I am not surprised at all. It's just good to get a rumor that they have asked about guys and it's interesting to see who they have inquired about.

Because his value is a second round draft pick. The Spurs won't do better than that unless they part with rotation players.
-
Re: Spurs reported interested in Stanley Johnson
Who would the spurs give up though?
Anderson and forbes are prob the only two id get rid of quick..
Not sure it these two are enough to pull off that trade.

Dude, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to shoot with Green in 2K17. He fucking misses everything for me, even when wide open. I think it's because of his quick, weird release. I can't tell when is the optimal time to release. The meter seems to move way faster for him, which is stupid...it should be easier to shoot with good shooters, regardless of their particular form.

-
Re: Spurs reported interested in Stanley Johnson
I was high on him in the draft process... it hasn't translated..
-
Re: Spurs reported interested in Stanley Johnson
Would be a good trade for the right price. Can't start him at the two though bc he can't shoot. Rather have Hezonja

One of those Amir Johnson types who's never all that good and never winds up being a Spur?

Amir Johnson's a 4, Stanley's a 3. He's a big guy (6'7 245) but he plays and moves like a 3

Re: Spurs reported interested in Stanley Johnson
This would be worth considering in the off-season, but like harlem said, it doesn't help us in winning this year

Green is fine for me, the person I can't figure out is Mills. I hit like 1 in 6 with him.
On Johnson, hard for Spurs to make salaries work without moving one of Green or Mills. Could trade Lee + Anderson but don't see them doing that to a guy who signed here on a min deal.

This. Anyone who thinks the Spurs unplug their phones really doesn't understand how running professional sports organizations works.

To be clear, this rumor is bullshit. Too many people are acting like it's real, but it's a dude taking the Lowe article and making it seem like it's not something that happened three months ago.

Maybe he can crack the rotation in 4 years, if, and only if, he gets over himself.

Re: Spurs reported interested in Stanley Johnson
No GM is going to want to deal with the Spurs when it comes to shipping off a talented young player. Even if the deal makes sense the media will destroy them.

Would suck if GM's really believed that. RC also has a tendency of getting cucked in trades. Not even going to mention Scola or Dragic.
He gave away Splitter for free, when Miles Plumlee can get you Nurkic and a first round pick in today's NBA.
He gave away NBA Champion, Dick Jefferson and a first round pick for a player that later got cut before the playoffs the next year.
He gave away Diaw for a summer league player that got cut in the summer league.
etc etc

SJax was worth it, should have been a Championship year.
But yes, otherwise I agree with you.
Other then Man From Nazr acquired for Malik Rose and the resulting Championship, has there been a successful trade deadline by RC?
Last years stupid mid 30s chucking guard, that was terrible.

All 3 deals were very successful.

Really good defensive player, not a good shooter, decent enough though. A very, very poorman's Kawhi.

Thanks for clearing that up. I don't have patience for podcasts unless it involves some interview I care to hear.... it's still interesting to find out who they havd inquired about.

Yeah, and I want to say people sometimes forget Danny Green has limits, thats why he was waived by Cleveland... everything went down the toilet because he was a horrible shooter and wasnt good enough even for Cavs, Pops Chip and god knows who made a wonderful job but he is regressing to his true self.
Bon bon is also a great person according to everyone but was hurting the team, Porker is not a great person... according to everyone and is hurting the team.

LOL wut
Taking a pay cut doesn't make you invincible, dudes been garbage 2 seasons running.
The message it sends is "Don't be shit on court and hang out at clubs all the time"

Why? How many players have the Spurs gotten from other teams that turned out to be great? And wasn't Kawhi the guy the Spurs told the Pacers to pick?
People are overblowing this. The franchise's best players (not sure about Gervin) were all drafted by the Spurs. D-Rob, TD, Manu, TP, Kawhi (I'm pretty sure the Spurs traded for the pick and told them to select Kawhi), they were all drafted by the Spurs. They didn't steal/trade for these guys from other teams. Kawhi and TP are also two guys that may not have become the players they are if drafted by someone else. Not saying that for sure, though, as they very well could have become great no matter where they went.
If the Spurs trade for a player and he improves here, that doesn't mean the Spurs stole talent away from them, it means their player development team and coaching sucks compared to the Spurs. I don't see what other teams should be mad about. Get better coaches and player development.

he gave away diaw because he had outlived his usefulness here.
