Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
Relying on Japanese pitchers has become the MLB equivalent of relying on white American players in basketball or relying on gimmicky scrambling quarterbacks in football, tbh.

Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
idk man, Darvish and Tanaka(despite this poor start) are both pretty good doe.

Great opening day. A couple of dramatic games to start the season.
2 Walk off games. Not bad. :king

Well that sucked, especially after that big homer. GG doe.

Yesterday: 2 walkoffs
Today: extra-innings thriller between bitter division rivals (Jays/O's) and another walkoff

:lol fucking Padres though

Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
Damn, first game of the year and the umps are already fucking the Rangers.
-
Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
Also, I love Napoli but the Rangers shouldn't of brought him back for a third stint with the team, much less to be the team's clean-up man.

Just isn't Ranger baseball without a chokejob. Still can't believe fucking Dyson is still the closer; fuck the front office's terrible job in the off season, per par.

Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
Sam Dyson just like Tolleson doesn't have closer stuff.

I'm still not convinced he belongs in the MLB. I mean, you can depend on him if your team is up 7 runs and he can afford to give up three runs before finding his groove. Actually a step up from some of the other clowns in their bullpen.

no way. The Jason Garrett look-a-like is already blowing games this early in the season? For fuck's sake, him and the real Garrett need to hurry up and hop in the backseat of JR Smith's car tbh

I said it during the playoffs and it still rings true: the Rangers are the Clippers of baseball.

It's only a matter of time, tbh. The whole MLB is waiting to shower him with insane amounts of money. They still haven't learned that the way the Japanese overwork their pitchers from an early age will inevitably get them stuck with hundreds of millions of dollars in damaged goods.

Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
The Rangers find the most interesting ways to lose, eh Robz4000?
-
Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
I'm not even surprised anymore. This team is complete dogshit. Sam Dyson needs to be tarred, feathered, and ran out of town.

Initially, I wasn't on board with using Schwarbie's bat in lead off spot but I'm happy to admit that I was wrong.
-
Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
At least the Padres managed to win one game but god damn they got rolled by the Doyers in this series. Hope it isn't a sign of things to come; thought they'd have a better season than last.
-
Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
I don't see it getting any better for the Pads this year. Dodgers and Giants are clearly the class of the division and I'd also put a healthy D-Backs team over them.

They weren't gonna be close to contending for the division, but they have enough talent to not be a complete embarrassment. It's looking like they're finally ready to shell out money to keep young talent instead of trading it for more prospects.
-
Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
Glad the Royals finally won a game albeit against the Astros 5th starter.
-
Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
Red Sox ain't shit without big papi. Perennial losers.
-
Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
God damn the Rangers look awful. Thought they'd at least contend for a playoff spot but they might be a sub-.500 team this year.

Case in point: he's already falling apart physically before even making it to the MLB.
Japanese baseball player Shohei Otani will be sidelined for about six weeks because of a left-thigh muscle strain, his team said on Sunday.
Otani, who is expected to move to Major League Baseball in 2018, hurt his left leg trying to beat out an infield single in the Nippon Ham Fighters' loss to the Orix BlueWave on Saturday.
The injury will add further debate to Otani's insistence on batting as well as pitching.
The 22-year-old right-hander didn't play for Japan in last month's World Baseball Classic because of an ankle injury he suffered in last year's Japan Series and aggravated while running the bases in the Premier12 tournament in November.

The Rangers look like the picture perfect .500 team on paper. Three guys on the front end of the rotation who can be dominant but are somewhat inconsistent + an above average lineup + a shaky bullpen = 81-81
Everyone knows their record in one run games last season was absurd so it should be inevitable that they regress back down to the mean.

Darvish/Hamels/Perez? aren't dominant though. They can have good games every now and then but Darvish is kinda gimmicky, Hamels is declining quickly, and Perez is not a dominant pitcher by any stretch of the imagination. Odor/Mazara look ready to take another leap but unless that happens they have a mediocre lineup compared to the rest of the AL West.

I said CAN be dominant (Darvis/Hamels that is, Perez was a stretch though I'll admit) as in they will have many shutdown games this year sprinkled in between a handful of bad losses.

Sam Dyson blows another good game from our starting pitcher. Faggot just gave up 4 hits with a homerun.

Really digging this rookie pitcher in the bullpen. Give him and Jeffries the set-up roles and let Bush be the closer.

Rangers got a little winning streak going. Good outing for Darvish. 10Ks/0 Runs.

We'll see. Darvish is great in the regular season but has never shown anything come postseason. Real happy to see the youngins produce outside homeruns. Like some of the younger bullpen players too; comes down to Banister pulling his head out of his ass and playing them.

Bet you want to murder the bullpen. ANOTHER blown lead. This time 6-1 :lol

I just find it better to expect this team to lose regardless of what they do anymore. The rare times they actually win just feel that much better.

I've been there. Dodgers frustrate me like no one's business. What is it now? 9 straight playoff appearances without even a pennant. MLB record, I believe.

That's the same problems the Royals are having so far. Starting pitching has been dominant except for your old friend Jason Hammel.

Y'all wanna trade bullpens?
-
Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
Offense looks outstanding. Too many errors so far and the terrible bullpen only thing holding us back. Hopefully Kela can give us some quality innings. I love his fastball!
-
Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
Wouldn't surprise me if the Astros cruise on their way to win the AL West.
-
Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
Solid win after trailing 0-5. Bats and bullpen finally got their shit together, at least for one night.

That's actually surprising since his pre ASG stats were actually quite solid for his tenure in the Windy City.

Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
Just saw on business news channel that Derrick Jeter and Jeb Bush are teaming up
to try and buy the Florida Marlins. Also in the bidding war is former presidential
candidate Mitt Romney son. The asking price for the team is about a $1,000,000
-
Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread
Rangers might actually be the worst team in the AL West this year. That's depressing.

Re: Official 2017 MLB Season Thread

Might be the fastest player in the league. Clocked at 23.6 mph. Highest ever since they been doing statcast.
