Anyone else not so hyped tbh?
I mean, the first round is pretty boring. Spurs should sweep memphis, no excuses. And then comes the second round, look, as bad as the team has looked the whole season, I can't believe that Houston will be the superior team. Spurs wins that in 5, 6 max. Then comes GSW, well, most probably a loss unless something sparks up from LMA and crew. Overall, not really hyped up so far. Memphis will be so fucking boring, Houston has potential to be decent and the team has too many flaws to face the golden fags.

Houston is a predictable win.
This team is too flawed to seriously challenge GSW barring an aldridge miracle. Where's the trolling? :lol

Not enough sleep. I misread it and thought you were touting a second round loss. I redact the former post, tbh.

Re: Anyone else not so hyped tbh?
I agree. It's hard to get fired up when its clear we don't have a realistic chance of getting past GSW. We'd need some serious help (e.g., a major injury to one of their big four) and would have to find another gear ourselves.
The near inevitability of a loss to GSW in the WCF (should we make it) takes some of the fun out of the early rounds. We're a premiere guard or two away from really contending with GSW.

Re: Anyone else not so hyped tbh?
I'm not that sold on Golden State just yet. The only teams to eliminate a Spurs squad in the playoffs in recent past had a far superior frontline except for the Heat which shouldn't have even won anyways and also a penetrating offense which remains to be seen depending on what Curry decides to do. If we keep them on the perimeter then we have seen just badly they and even Durant can miss in the most crucial moments so it atleast gives us a shot but the Spurs need to win the rebounding battle and limit the costly turnovers and for goodness sakes make their damn free throws.

Re: Anyone else not so hyped tbh?
I just rewatched the "Beautiful Game" videos on YouTube. I'm hyped AF now.

Re: Anyone else not so hyped tbh?
Eh. I think this first round will be a single digit margin of victory sweep by the Spurs. Every game will be close. From there on, with full confidence in the Spurs and all, it's a wild card. That's why the playoffs are played, after all.
-
Re: Anyone else not so hyped tbh?
Right now I'd agree it doesn't look so exciting, but it's the playoffs, there will be upsets, there will be injuries, there will be bad calls by the refs, there will be drama... We split the season 2-2 with the Grizz, the 1st round will be a good test to see if this team has a playoffs gear or not.
-
Re: Anyone else not so hyped tbh?
Rockets-Warriors is a lock for WCF regardless what happens in Spurs-Grizzlies series.
-
Re: Anyone else not so hyped tbh?
I view the playoffs as a good gauge to see how far or how close the spurs are to being a championship team. With some luck there is a chance the Spurs could win it all but we'll see how things end up. If the Spurs play up to their potential then they should at least get to the WCF.
-
Re: Anyone else not so hyped tbh?
it is boring because it is all for naught ... and playing against the Grizzlies is just not exciting ...

:lol not really, Rockets are a good gimmick team that can't get past an antiquated 2 man game namely kawhi and aldridge

Yep. I didnt watch any game after we lost to the warriors, and then Grizz is the first round. Fuck entertainment.

Yeah. The Spurs success has ruined playoff basketball for me. I used to watch any game I could. Now, if the Spurs are out, I don't give a shit. I might tune in to the Finals to root against some player or team. But if it's Cle/GSW, I only watch out of a morbid hope that the arena splodes.

The *unbeatable* Golden Phags were down 3-1 to a slightly above average OKC team last year before Durant and OKC choked.
GTFO
Same thing this year.

Though yes that video is hype AF, this team is not that team unfortunately. This is a very good Spurs team though, fully capable of hoisting up the LOB this year, excited to see where the chips fall.

Re: Anyone else not so hyped tbh?
I am very eager to get the playoffs started and see how the Spurs do. Excited? Not so much. What happens during the course of the first round will dictate the excitement level.

Spurs fans are so spoiled beyond belief. This is the type of guy that has a lovely wife but looks at her 10 years down the road after she has birthed his children and leaves her for the 20 year old yoga instructor because he can't see the beauty in his wife anymore.

For me this is the least stressful playoff run in years that the spurs are entering into. Every year since '97 I wanted the Spurs to win the title so badly because I felt Duncan was a once in a lifetime player and the Spurs had to make the most of it. Even last year with Duncan being washed up I wanted the spurs to win badly because I wanted to see him go out on top. Factor in Duncan is my favorite player of all time so it made every playoff run even more intense. This is the first time in years I can check those expectations at the door and just let the chips fall as they may. I have also have gotten to see the Spurs win all 5 titles in my lifetime so anything extra from this point forward is gravy. I think it's mainly the young spur fans who are more angry and frustrated at the prospect of not being the favorite to win it all.

Re: Anyone else not so hyped tbh?
I kinda agree.... I'm excited, but it just seems so different for some reason. Beating GS, Pop an his retarded rotations, an just feeling unsure about this team...

Re: Anyone else not so hyped tbh?
Ever since we fell a step behind on the Warriors in the standings, I feel like the regular season has pretty much been formality.
I've been ready for the playoffs to start for a month already. Ready to see the big lights go up!

Re: Anyone else not so hyped tbh?
Whats the point of even watching
lmfao this is pretty pathetic tbh
Here's something for the brilliant people who have already figured out exactly how the playoffs will play out.... get hyped up about Kawhi being the man in the playoffs without Timmy, for a chance for one of the young guys to show they can get it done on the big stage, get hyped because the playoffs are unpredictable even if you think you have it penciled in (shit... last year the team who won the most games out of anyone... up 3-1... ended up not winning). You're crazy if you think these playoffs are set in stone and something crazy won't happen. It's the damn playoffs... where superstars are made. You're saying "if some LMA miracle happens".. dude, the stars come out to play in the playoffs.... who fucking knows if Bertans makes some breakout.. Dijonte... Simmons... Manu turns the clock back. It's ignorant to think the playoffs will just be an extension of the regular season for all teams. You're saying you aren't hype because of the certainty of events.. when in fact the playoffs are far from that.
Bump this if what you're saying happens, but I highly doubt it.

Try to not look too far ahead. We all want a piece of GS but enjoy the ride along the way if we get there. First is Memphis who will be a good test to get our offense going. I'm excited to see Kawhi (and the team) in Playoff mode. Not to say they have been "coasting", but they sure haven't been giving the 110% effort that's given in the playoffs. We could be a completely different team come the third round, better or worse, enjoy the ride because its a long one (hopefully :P).

Re: Anyone else not so hyped tbh?
I see the Grizzlies giving the Spurs more problems than the Rockets. Spurs didn't look good this year vs Grizz and I just don't believe D'Antoni basketball will get to the WCF.

Re: Anyone else not so hyped tbh?
Lmfao this kind of thinking is why the Holt family needs to move the team somewhere where the city is energized.
I know OP is pinoy, but Fat Antonians also feel like this.
