Manu is unplayable against Memphis
Almost cost us a 26 point meltdown
Time to shelve his ass and hope he recovers

Re: Manu is unplayable against Memphis
He can not play against physical d
Too old

Re: Manu is unplayable against Memphis
Wow zero points
Sad thing is thanks to the ref screw job on our favor tonight the Grizz will be allowed to go raw on
us in game 3
-
Re: Manu is unplayable against Memphis
He had a couple of open shots. Some nights they go in some nights they don't.
-
Re: Manu is unplayable against Memphis
He probably dove for a loose ball or something, so all is forgiven.
-
Re: Manu is unplayable against Memphis
Only 2 turnovers, not 6. So... :tu

How 'bout the constant gambling on D that leaves all his teammates out to dry? :lol

Re: Manu is unplayable against Memphis
We need him at guard.
Who do we replace him with?
Memphis had a great strategy of picking our guards up way out and pushing us to the perimeter in the 3rd. Both Patty and Tony. Fortunately our D got some stops and allowed some free setups and Memphis flat out got tired.

Both would probably give us better chances

Good answer.
Who do you play when both Tony AND patty can't beat their men after being picked up 3/4 court? Happened 3rd quarter.

A player who will be getting 20 minutes and isn't any kind of scoring threat will be a detriment going forward. I don't give a shit how many loose balls he's dives for. This team needs more scoring from the perimeter as a whole, not more "hustle."
It'd be different if the Spurs were loaded with 20ppg scoring threats, but they aren't. So right now for this team, putting the ball in the basket is more important than pure effort.

Just get a bit tired of this unplayable crap when we all know we have a guard problem.
We have to battle through and it will most likely catch up with us.

He led the team in assists and steals tonight, tied 3rd best on rebounds, took only 4 shots and was a +6 net positive in just 18 mins...
Now, people say he sucked in the 3rd... I'll buy it, I missed that quarter... but doesn't take away that he influences the game in other ways...

Yeah, we need 20 min per game for a scoreless turnover machine because he can get the ball past half court in 8 seconds.
smh

I know. I troll in these threads because I want Patty and Manu held to the same standards as Tony. Patty can play like absolute dogshit, but he hits a 3 when the Spurs are up 15, and he's praised. Manu can turn the ball over 400 times, brick all his shots, but he's eventually praised because he dove for a loose ball or flopped to draw a charge.
Tony can score 20, be a difference maker, but will get endlessly criticized for "freezing out Kawhi" and heroballing.

That's what I'm afraid of. Tempers are already high. I hope we don't suffer any big injuries.

Who are you putting in when both Parker and Patty get shut down after passing half court like in the third?
Pick a player instead of whining.

Single game +/-
LMA + 11
Kawhi + 8
Doesn't matter that Leonard almost scored 40 on 14 shots, going perfect from the line. All 'bout that single game +/-!

Good shit we can still beat Memphis without Manu, tbh.

This is total krew shit.
I got em on ignore so I don't know if they are still playing ttired crap his unless someone quotes them.
My point is you get to a sequence when you just need a body that has seen it before, even if it's 39 and will screw up on occasion.

Re: Manu is unplayable against Memphis
We've all seen Manu play. Turnovers in the stat sheet don't always tell the whole story.
The problem with Manu is he doesn't know how to settle himself down. He gambles so much on defense and passing. If he could scale it back when it's not there, it wouldn't be so bad.
But instead, when it starts going bad, he dials it up even more causing more of a mess.
-
Re: Manu is unplayable against Memphis
Manu can rest both early rounds, we dont need him yet,
but we shall need his leadership against GS
So, if Im Pop, im resting Manu until the Western Finals.

Actually, in the 3:23 he played in the 3rd
+2
Missed a 3
Got a rebound and 2 assists
In the 6:40 he played in the 4th
-2
One rebound, one steal
1 TO
Seems to me he didn't play well, but not poorly either. A net impact of +- 0 during that span <shrugs>.
His 3pt shooting was definitely off, but he doesn't wait in the corner.
-
Re: Manu is unplayable against Memphis
Porker tried to shoot us out of the game tbh. 14 shot attempts, the same as Kawhi. :lol
1 assist, 2 turnovers from our starting point guard. What a joke. Textbook hero ball last night you. No passing, just dribble dribble dribble, shoot shoot shoot. Kawhi practically had to pry the ball out of Enrique's dead hands to get any opportunities.
-
Re: Manu is unplayable against Memphis
Folks here acting like the Spurs have a puncher's chance at a ring this year :lol
":cry but Manu didn't score.. and Patty missed those threes.. we need to clean that up"
:lol that's not going to matter soon.

he's been like that dude at a YMCA pick-up game that no one wants to pass the ball to but then makes a hustle play every once in a while so they tolerate him.

If Tony Patti and Manu all have a great series I dont see us losing to anyone except the Warriors and we would make it pretty competitive
but if Tony and Patti are soso and Manu non existent we could lose to anyone
so "that dont matter"???

If you lose to the Warriors even playing great, it don't matter that Manu or Patty isn't playing great. The outcome is the same; no ring.

I agree with this somewhat. I'm waiting for Danny to say "I can't believe they are leaving Tony so wide open" as payback for 2013.
Several times last night I was yelling at my TV "give Kawhi the fucking ball". Dude had that opening sequence with that dunk and he didn't touch the ball for like 3 or 4 more trips. It was Patty fucking Mills show with no one else even touching the ball on offense. I get it that Pop wants to force Memphis to show on every player to open the middle for the bigs and give Kawhi some rest on offense, but goddamn let the dude touch the fucking ball you little aborigine faggot.

that's incredibly misleading when kawhi had 19 free throws... i dont have a count of how many of those were and-1's, but thats about 9 unregistered FGA's

I mean, the fact that you have to explain that boggles the mind :lol
Also, if people watched, they absolutely college pressed and trapped Kawhi and forced those other options to step up . If TP starts cowering like some here want, SA is totally screwed vs that strategy.
If was the FTA + MEM Gameplan that caused TP to take most of those shots. He even stepped up and hit tough 3's when other 3 point shooters on the team were bricking and that is not even his role.

parker did have a higher usage rate for the game, though. north of 36

Thats where you are wrong. Patti and Manu having a great series puts us in position to have a decent chance at the series.
them playing so so gives us zero chance.
there is a huge difference between having a legit chance and having zero chance

So by the law of averages if they continue to suck they have a very good chance of playing well against GS =P
