It worked because he had a top 5 player of all time. Who was also a big. Timmys dominance made Pop look like a Genius at times. Pop could do whatever he wanted and at the end of the day, the team was probably going to win. He had prime Duncan. And Manu and Parker. At the time I thought he was a great coach. But in hindsight, he just had better players. Like all the "great" coaches. I'll give him and the FO all the credit for finding the good players and putting a system in place.
