I am just too tired to articulate well what I want to say in this area frankly.. but you will disagree with any point made about Kyle and I a again too tired t even bring it up. I ddt like your initial lineups but a lot of that is fluid. Simmons, Manu and Hanga we don't know about.
I have a hard time believing Spurs go into next season w/ White/Anderson/Forbes as their back up wings.
I don't see a scenario where Kyle can be anything more than the 4th big or wing.
He'll have to beat out Bertans to get 4th big spot.
As for the wings. He should hope Manu retires, so he competes w/ Hanga for minutes and not Simmons (if Simmons is re-signed).
If Manu retires, Simmons is the back up SG then Kyle/Hanga compete for limited minutes behind Kawhi.
If Manu is back, Simmons competes w/ Kyle for minutes at SF.

Doesn't make sense for me that Simmons competes with anyone if he's back he's going to have his spot. Will have to look at this again tomorrow to make any additional comments.

If people criticized Spurs' lack of ball-movement/unbalanced roster last season, just wait to watch Kawhi, Gay, and LMA together on court...
He was brought on as an Iso . We had ball movement and a bunch of scared shooters. Rudy gay isnt afraid of that. It's actually his speciality. I'm sure he will be more team oriented on a 60 win team, but he was definitely brought on to give kawhi a break. Once kawhi went out, the offense usually did. Need someone who draws defense attention on the bench outside of mills. Rudy does that. He fits fine with the second unit as a lead scorer. They haven't had one in a long while.
They don't need more of what they have, which was passers and role players. They needed a legitimate sixth man. He gets the green light with the second unit and I think spurs will be better for it.

Re: Official 2017 Offseason Thread
Its weird reading all these Iso comments. Just because they can score one on one doesn't make them Iso only players. It's a benefit or a luxury to have. Spurs issue against gsw was no one could take advantage of an Iso . Now people are complaining about getting what the spurs needed most.. :lol
It's like they don't acknowledge tge spurs were the second best team in the NBA last year and only the wolves made big enough moves to really change things. Wont know who they are til next year.
Spurs are better at this point, if they retain who they want going forward. Being the second best team in the league and getting better, is hard to come by when max players are taking discounts in the prime to stack their team on the most lopsided team in history.
Spurs are doing great.

I doubt he would be a reserve...

Iso plays aren't bad per se if the iso-player is hyper-efficient like Kawhi but we need some elite playmaker who can make Spurs' offense more fluid...
Our PGs/SGs Patty, Murray, Danny aren't that type of guy. Even when Kawhi improved a lot in last playoffs at creating for others, we can't ask him to do everything, scoring, defense, asts..
It seems like Spurs will play my-turn-your-turn offense again between Kawhi, LMA and now Gay...I wonder who will give our few 3-point shooters Patty, Danny, Davis, good looks...I wonder who will give Kawhi, LMA easy buckets...
All I'm saying is that I expected a more elaborated offense. I wanted just two things this offseason, a true playmaker and a defensive big...But the NBA market and PATFO hate me.

Now S'n'T Simmons for a big (I am looking at you, Kyle O'Quinn) and sign Hanga.

I get that argument. The spurs starters, even without tony Parker, outplayed the warriors starters quite a few times in the season. The bench is really what needed a facelift as they just didn't seem to make anything happen against them.
I feel like the bench could compete with any other team but the warriors.
I want a more focused play maker at the guard position as well, but i think the first unit has enough to contend with anyone with kawhi in mvp mode.
The second unit, if they keep Manu , has plenty of passers and cutters. Patty is greta off ball movement. Gasol Gail is great at picking apart a defense and hitting a pick and pop. Manu is serviceable at distributing when he's not trying. To score 100 ppints in one possesion. I feel they would benefit from a true ball hog in the second unit. Someone who wants to score and have the ball. They all seemed scared to have it last year. Think the less pressure they have, the better the role players will turn out to play.
It will definitely be interesting to see how it plays out, what the final roster is, and how Pop plans to attack the season. He definitely had his team ready to play the warriors. A few unfortunate ankle rolls, changed the narrative quick.

I think it makes much more sense for him to take a manu role and lead his own unit, then run with kawhi. Unless of course Danny is on the move, but even then one of thw younger guys would fit in better that can 3nD.
I could see him as a small ball pf starter to tho . Th at would actually be fun to see.

In theory, Manu and Simmons can take up the remaining roster spot and Forbes' spot. Or the team could trade Green. Not a fan of either scenario. One of them coming back (Manu over Simmons for tax purposes) and kicking Forbes off the team would make the most sense.

Re: Official 2017 Offseason Thread
Well white/Murray/Forbes will be coming and going to the D league. I think Murray and White will battle out backup point, and will still lose minutes to Manu and Simmons.

Re: Official 2017 Offseason Thread
That tweet imbeded in the article is wrong-headed (in the same way a previous post of mine was). They have 15 guys under contract not counting Hanga. Bringing back Manu and Simmons give the Spurs no choice but to cut Forbes for Hanga, giving them $8 Million in space, not $6 Million. More importantly, "space under the hard cap" only matters if it's less than the LLE, which it isn't.
$13 Million for Manu and Pau would be reasonable, though.
