Seems, not necessarily promising, but at least he has a skill that should be useful.

Matt Costello signs with the Spurs!!! http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/...ostello-58737/
Apparently can rebound, but can he do anything else?

Skill set over athleticism...
Seems to be Spurs approach
Re: Official 2017 Offseason Thread
From this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iA5k6znvAqE He can shoot 3's. I guess another Lauvergne type player?
Spurs stocking up on Matt Bonner clones?

When that skill is rebounding, I'm okay with it.

I think he's a 3 and rebound kind of guy.

He really isn't a 3 point shooter. He's hit 8 out of 37 3 pointers last year in the D-League, less than 20%. In the summer league he went 1 for 6.

Simmons/Dedmon were great athletes but pretty much one trick pony. Pretty much lacked basic fundamentals of a basketball player but their athleticism couldn't be ignored.
Spurs seems to looking for players who can shoot from 3, midrange, pass and just do the little things that matter. Spurs are by far a more talented team offsensively but their defense is the real question or concern

Yes, I mixed up the numbers. Should have been 7/38.

But there's one variable, sources say, that might be the driving factor of player movement going forward: Gregg Popovich.
Pop begins his term as the head coach of Team USA this year and his contract lasts through the 2020 Olympics in Japan. (Sidenote: Spurs' VP of basketball operations Monty Williams was an assistant coach on the 2016 USA squad.) Could the Spurs be playing the long game here?

Spurs clearly gave up on the upcoming season ... really looks like they will try something bigger next off-season which has some interesting free agents but many teams with missing cap space
