Damn what an offseason for the thunder damn. WB wins MVP then gets pg and melo the next season.
This is the first post I read from you about it. I may have missed any priors.
I really didn't like Pau when they picked him up when Timmy retired 2 seasons ago. He wasn't good for Chicago the season b4. He made Jimmy Butler looked washed up on defense bc we know he's late to rotate and he just didn't help Chicago to win basketball games that season. They even missed the playoffs I think. Anyways, this off-season was a disaster and you know what. One could understand standing pat with a mostly youngish core (you hope some guys improve and add role players) and if you have guys in their prime you go all in, but when your only real star in his prime is Kawhi and Lamarcus is not who you thought he'd be. Then you need to make a plan to set up future moves.
Their only hope right now is for some young player to make some unexpected leap. If someone steps up it will be all: oh Pop knew. But they don't know, they are fishing with all the guards they have picked up.
For two seasons in a row now they failed to add difference makers at the guards spots, any spot bc they don't want to move on from guys who are entrenched. One season they paid Manu $14 million at 39 years old and the other they reupped Patty at $50 mill per 4 years. Only guy they tried to trade is Danny.
Patty is nice as a role player and all but he's not going to fill in the void a true playmaker or versatile starting caliber guard like younger Tony or Manu.... /sigh. Pop security blanket and the bar of soap are doing more damage by creating the impression in Pop's mind that he can afford to stand pat at this point. I keep hoping one of the young guys makes a leap but Dijon for example looks like he may need a couple more years unless he shows something we haven't seen. There are rookies who aren't going to be ahead of the entrenched guys in this team.
One can only guess blindly at what their plan for next season is. Looks like standing pat again to me.
Presti has dirt on other GMs for sure...
Well we didn't have enough (or offer enough) for PG or try to sign CP3. So now What choice do we have?Quote:

2018 was the goal. Parker and Green were expiring, LMA had an opt out, Gasol and Mills' combined $98,000,000 weren't on the books.... RC fucked it all up. No way to spin it. You're kidding yourself if you don't expect the inevitable Parker and Green gigantic extensions.
Kawhi better put on his Jordans and run to Cali. Asap. Don't sink with this Titanic
In my eyes it's either downgrade now and next season for extra young talent/picks and wait for 2019 to get Kawhi a top 10 guy OR hope that Curry or KD go down in the playoffs this season or next.
We have a legit shot against any other team imho....even the thunder & rockets we could take in 7 but the chances of injury to GS are slim so i'd roll the dice.
With any luck one of DJ, Bertans or white can develop into starters but the rest of the roster will likely be clear.
i know its fustrating but i just try to picture MJ & Kobe's career....we have a horse that can do the same type of things. At 28 in 2019 theres a good chance he's a reigning mvp and we can load up to contend for a 3-5 year window
Dear basketball gods... Please let the spurs beat the shit out of the league. pretty pretty please!!! #prayingdog
you guys don't get it, tbh... everything is lined up for the 2025 PLAN...
maybe pop and rc should stay out of politics and think basketball
i wish RC was more aggressive this off-season also but you can't fault the 'long haul' very conservative strategy that got 5 rings for TD.
unless we could have potentially gotten Paul George in some type of package i don't fault RC too much except i now wish he would concede next season and give up an asset(s) for a pick.
No one is beating G/S the next 2 years w/out injury.....So the Gasol deal is meh
The new reality is that we have to wait 2 years for any chance of signing a top 15 talent to go with kawhi. That will still gives us a 5 year window with having the best player in the game.
Just another body to clog the lane that Kawawa has to jump over. Aging Melo and PG rental. Oh no...:lol
Now watch presti land wade....He's doing everything he can to pressure a buyout.
The guy really is the perfect GM....everyone talks about how great Ainge is but imagine what presti could have done with those assets this offseason if he was the GM of the Celtics
Not really concerned with this move thunder might lose all three all stars next year still SPURS r the second seed behind the warriors and Rudy Gay is going to surprise people.
Im shifting to chess, and cyclin.g..
