Quotes from DE/LB Nana Osafo-Mensah of Fort Worth Nolan Catholic (24/7):
“The visit was awesome,” Osafo-Mensah said. “I loved it. This was my second time going down to Austin, but it was my first time to see all the facilities and watch a practice. My favorite part was either watching the offense and defense scrimmage at practice or trying on the all white jerseys for sure.”
“(Orlando) talked to me about being able to come in and play that rush end defense for them,” Osafo-Mensah said. “He and Coach Giles also discussed how they could use me in other packages, where I could also drop in coverage as well as rush the passer.”
“After this visit, Texas is definitely one of my top favorites in my Top 10 list,” he said. “What really stood out to me in the program was how much the coaches were involved with the players everywhere.”
Update on 2020 QB Bryce Young of Santa Ana, CA (Rivals):
“They haven’t offered,” Young said. “They told me they haven’t offered a quarterback in my class. He told me he’s going to be down during spring. He said sometime in the next month to watch me throw and talk to my coaches."
“He said that’s when I should be expecting the offer. I can’t be mad or take it to heart that I didn’t walk out with an offer. I have to take it from the coach’s perspective and he really just saw my film and met me. I understand so for me it’s not something I’m too sour about.”
“I did like it,” Young said. “I thought it was a very productive trip. I got to spend a lot of time with coach Beck and that was really helpful. I got to see the facilities and did the tour. I’m sure you’ve heard from everyone how nice the facilities and the locker room are. That was cool."
“I saw all the support they have. You can just tell based on their facilities and who was at practice how much support they have. I also got a feel for the city. It’s located pretty downtown and it’s a pretty modern city. Going into it, I’m not going to lie, I didn’t think it was going to be that modern, have that much going on, but it did and I liked it."
“We were just trying to get a feel for each other. I was trying to get a feel for (Beck's) system and his philosophy and his coaching, the way he coached, everything like that. He wanted to see where my head was at. We talked on the phone before but this was the first step in getting to know me. He wants to see me throw, talk to my coaches and learn more about me but it was definitely productive.”
“I was happy to hear the sirens when De’Gabriel committed,” Young said. “I was talking to coach Beck and I heard the sirens go off. I got to talk to (Floyd) up there and he told me how much he loved it. I got to talk to him right before he committed and he said, ‘Yeah, this is home.’ Seeing someone I’m close with and he’s an L.A. kid, that’s definitely encouraging.”
2019 WR Dylan Wright
Most likely nothing, but thought it was funny nonetheless.
From DE/LB NaNa Osafo-Mensah (The Football Brainiacs):
“I learned a lot about UT that I didn’t know before and now I really really really like what they got going down in Austin”.
DE Braedon Mowry of Katy Taylor is committing on Saturday.
It should be A&M.
