I'm rooting for losses...
Best case scenario imho. What good is it making the playoffs and getting our ass bounced, and settling for the same damn mid-late first round pick where they usually don't get anyone worthy (very few exceptions). Lose as much as they can hopefully and get in lottery, even if the last slot. Fuck it!!

Re: I'm rooting for losses...
I need to read up on how the lottery works. I've never looked into it as the Spurs have only been in it once in the 24, 25 years I've been a fan of the team.
Can you actually luck into a top 5 pick, or do only the worst few teams get lottery balls for the number 1 pick?

Theoretically, any team that has missed the playoffs has a 'chance' at the #1 pick (to limit absolute tanking). But it's very thin. Like... Less than 1% chance if you're the team that just missed the playoffs.

The worst teams gets the largest amount of lottery balls. While the team that has the best record out of the lottery team gets the lowest amount of balls. If you have the best record you still have a chance at the number 1 pick but the odds are highly stacked against you to get it.

Re: I'm rooting for losses...
We ain't LA and Lebron is definitely not coming, because that's the only way the league rigs a draft for us....

I'd say that the Spurs' chances of dropping out of the playoffs is a better bet than their winning 50.

It looks like Kawhi is heading there but no way you can be a spurs fan. :lol A Spurs fan would not be filled with joy and cheering for Kawhi to go to the Lakers unless you are a profoundly stupid person but then again you are.

You only get to move up if your lotto balls come up for pick #1, 2, or 3. Otherwise the order is by record. And those lotto balls for picks 1-3 are heavily weighted in favor of the teams with the 5 or so worst records.

Re: I'm rooting for losses...
We got kawhi at 13 so maybe there will be another diamond in the rough. Plus if kawhi really doesmt want to be here im sure well trade him for another young player and draft pic

Is there anywhere I can go to read a simple explanation on how it works. I've never bothered to look at the lottery due to the Spurs hardly ever being in it.

Re: I'm rooting for losses...
Why would anyone, short of the biggest Spurs homer, think this team is making the playoffs??? Am I missing something? They are a couple games out of the 9 spot with over 20 to play..
-
Re: I'm rooting for losses...
Trad eStephen Kawhawkins for 2 first round picks tbqh
Make it interesting at least. Also finish Manure, Porkers, Fatty and Gasofts deportation papers

If Spurs don't start stepping up and playing better the West is literally a free fall from 3-8 this year. Spurs missing the playoffs is not impossible at the moment.
-
Re: I'm rooting for losses...
When can we start the tank magic number? Like id say spurs aren't going to beat top 10 teams at home or away. So we can take some games and pencil in L. Seems as if we track the beatable teams there should be only 5-10 contestable games

This. Expect the Spurs to get smoked in Cleveland on Sunday and that then puts us 1 game back from being dropped out of the playoffs.

Re: I'm rooting for losses...
Rooting for losses too, tbh. Because f*** the SA Shits. :lol
-
Re: I'm rooting for losses...
if the spurs miss the playoffs they could use that pick to trade up too.
-
Re: I'm rooting for losses...
Hopefully, the Holt's sell the team to an owner and city that cares.

Based on where Spurs would finish were they to miss playoffs, it’s almost certainly in the 12-14 range. That would give a 1.8% to 2.5% chance at a top three pick. So at best, one in 40.
Would be nice but I’m sure the Holts would rather get 2+ playoff home gate receipts, even if it meant a first round exit. I’m cheering for that ... playoff appearance but towards bottom of standings. They’d have to beat Rockets and/or Warriors on road anyway, so why not start with one of them?

Re: I'm rooting for losses...
Pau and Patty will lead us to the tank. Pau was leading Chicago right to the lottery b4 Spurs signed him at a premium. He's only 2 more years passed that time and still as egotistical as wanting his starting minutes and his touches too.
Patty is doing a great job leading the guards in this tankathon. 98 million combined. Thanks PATFO. :toast

Those two contracts were ridiculous head scratchers. The occasional good game hasn't nearly justified those dollars this year. I can only imagine how bad that will look next year.

They'll look better next year with one less year on them.

You don’t tank when you’re third in the conference this late in the season. That’s dumb.
-

Third cause they had an easy stretch to start season. Now reality fixin to hit....

Any true Spurs fan would be rooting for a better future for the team...and it's start with a better draft pick. Nothing good can come from being swept by GS/Houston in the first round...

Go root for another team then. The Mavs and Lakers for example.
