When and why did the "two shots" chant become a thing
I noticed it earlier this year. Is that an ATT Center thing or is it going on across the nba?
I don't hate it, just don't get the why and how it started

Re: When and why did the "two shots" chant become a thing
I think the PA guy, Jonathan Sanford started it. I’ve chatted with him on FB and twitter. He’s a really good dude.

There just reporting Buford drinking on the job.

Re: When and why did the "two shots" chant become a thing
It was prevalent last year and definitely a reaction to the announcers animated voicing of “ttttwwwooo shots!” It’s stupidly fun.

Maybe he's a great dude, but as a PA announcer, I don't like him, at all. He's boring AF and his girly "threeeeee" is obnoxious. The 2013/14 Finals opening presentations were a shell of what they were in 1999-2007.
Stan Kelly (Alamodome - 2008) was a solid 9/10. His last year, he was a 7/10 though and regressing.
Kevin Brock (2008-2012, filled in for Kelly a few times in like 2006) was a solid 7/10
Brock's replacement when he got cancer in 2009 was a 2/10
The 2013 guy was a 2/10
Sanford is a 3/10 at best.

Yeah, I noticed this earlier this year at a game.. I seemed to be the only person who didn't give a shit about saying it
-
Re: When and why did the "two shots" chant become a thing
it's stupid and annoying.

Re: When and why did the "two shots" chant become a thing
Another clear example of someone in the Spurs Org. collecting paychecks he doesn't deserve. I wonder which staff member he is related to/friends with.

Re: When and why did the "two shots" chant become a thing
I miss Stan kelly “manuuuuu!!!” He still does Utsa football games so I’m not sure why the spurs let him go

Stan Kelly was iconic but that warbly nasally voice was grating.

I also don't like how he says Spurs. He's like in for the Sperrs...
But at least this is better than Y'all Ready for This

The nasally thing didn't really get bad until the end
-
Re: When and why did the "two shots" chant become a thing
i think it's dumb/annoying too, but for some reason... it gets crowd participation
-
Re: When and why did the "two shots" chant become a thing
I don't really get it. I find it annoying. It takes time out of heckling.

Re: When and why did the "two shots" chant become a thing
The new guy seems to generic (just like the spurs new courts). I like Kelly’s because he brought something unique just like the courts

Here come the Spurs!
Spurs ball! SPURRRRRRRRRRRS ball!
A little help?!
Spurs take the lead! Spurs take the lead!
Tim Duncan! TIIIIIIIIIM Duncan!
MANUUUUUUUUU! GINOBILIIIIIIIIIII!
Childhood was the greatest... unfortunately my life was built at the top of a slope. Adulthood is all about watching this team get worse and worse and Poop turning from GOAT coach to stupid political crap robot.

Re: When and why did the "two shots" chant become a thing
I regret that Kelly couldn't have been our PA announcer for "5" though.

Re: When and why did the "two shots" chant become a thing
Not a fan. Schoening is shit too. Collecting checks with mediocre talent. Please don't bring up the awards either. Those things offer no credibility and are as worthless as participation trophies. Those who've been around before his tenure know better.
And please, for the sake of all that is good in this world, don't get me started on the retards who show up to say "GO SPURS GO" at the top of their lungs during the FOX Sports wrap up show. It is beyond me how anyone's life can be so pathetic as to enjoy standing in the vicinity of a camera for so long, AFTER A GAME, cell phones pressed to their ear, just to be on TV. Have you seen these people? The majority look like a mix of overweight, Mexican and Chinese inbred mutts, spilling out of their Spurs chirts. There, I said it and I feel better now. By all means, carry on.

Re: When and why did the "two shots" chant become a thing
Other than the stellar technical play of the team over the past two decades, they haven't offered much in the way of entertainment, meaning you'd do just as well to watch on TV. Fortunately for me I only care about the game, couldn't care less about the peripherals.

Laker/GSW fans are just as bad and Mexican and fat but they are hairier, sweatier and (unfortunately) tend to wear less clothing.

Re: When and why did the "two shots" chant become a thing
The current guy seems like he took every generic phrase or gimmick from every other PA announcer and put in all together in one lame, boring, shit salad.
It's like the Spurs are TRYING to play up to the long running "boring" schtick. You would think their play style the past couple of years would have been enough...
