Good. Hopefully the team gets booed as well. Show them that as fans, we don’t stand for this bullshit.

Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
At least you have Laker fans who will continue to fill your arena for 2 of those games...the other 80, you're on your own

Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
Coming soon to the AT&T Center, tarping off sections and admission to the Charter section with Sprite cans.
-
Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
We don't know if Kawhi is capable of playing a whole season. I bought Spurs tickets hoping to see him play and got burned. I'll be hesitant to do it next year with the crop of talent that we are rostering. At least, not expensive tickets.
-
Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
Good looking forward to $10 lower level prices again.
-
Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
Tbh, I actually did cancel mine.
Call me a player fan, but Kawhi is no Timmy, and I don’t feel like paying to watch this team continually shit the bed against top tier teams.
With the very real possibility of Manu retiring and constant sub $10 stubhub tickets, there’s no reason to have season tickets right now.

:lmao
Thats the least you could do after taking our franchise player, tbh.

Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
Aren’t the Spurs one of the top teams this year, even without Kawhi, in terms of viewership and attendance growth?

They got to the WCF last year. How is that sh*tting the bed. That trip included beating HOU to get there.

Yeah, that was last year, and frankly they vastly overachieved to get there. That doesn’t mean I didn’t get to enjoy the ride, but losing one player shouldn’t have made as huge of a difference as it did. That tells me this team is fundamentally flawed, which is okay. The Spurs don’t have to win it every year, if there’s anything 2014 showed, its that the bad years will make the good ones better and more enjoyable.
The Spurs will always be my team, but I have to be realistic about their ceiling. I’ll continue to watch games, but I’m not going to shell out to go all year. We are fools gold as long as are relying on LMA iso’s everytime down the floor.
To answer your question, Spurs are 24-6 against teams below .500, but 13-24 against teams with a winning record. I don’t have an answer to what their record is this year vs top 5 teams, but I’m sure it’s horrible.
And sure we can point to injuries, but imo no competitive team would be marching out fathead and Gasol to play heavy minutes.

Probably, but that doesn’t fit the ‘we’re all gonna die’ hysteria. I’m expecting a great “Redemption ll” next season if things continue to go poorly this season.

I agree with your post. Just like to add to it this season would have been a lot more fun to watch had Kawhi played even if they weren't a legit contender. I enjoyed the down years when the Spurs were not contending from '08-'11 because they were still a good team. Bad teams are never fun to watch especially teams that are lottery bound. This was the least exciting spurs team to watch in 20 years.

Seriously. A few years ago, I could get good seats for like $50-70 bucks. Went to a game last year and paid that much for nose-bleeds.

I hear they have lots of tech money in Seattle to pay for season tickets

Cancelled my season tickets as well. Star players sitting out and price hike was enough for me to jump ship.

Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
The arena is over 15 years old in an area that was definitely NOT revitalized, though everyone knew it was flimflam when they promised that would happen.
If the ownership hasn't been working to secure a new arena site downtown to have it built by say 2030 it's would only be because they're investigating other cities.
-
Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
If revenue plummets I wouldn't blame them...The way this organization have treated the fan base especially this year like they are insignificant is very forthcoming. This FO needs to get over themselves.
I'll always be a Spurs fun but I'm just not a fan of the current Front Office right now.
-
Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
The city of fat antonio doesnt deserve an nba team tbqh.
Fat porcines are buying nachos and enchiladas most of the game and the rest stay at home and leave empty seats
It would be great for humanity for Spurs to go to a more deserving city
-
Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
When the mediocre, lottery Spurs run losses for a few seasons, then they'll be sold and moved.
-
Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
Sad thing is they could replace Spurs games with pig wrestling and most of the fans there would never notice :lol
-
Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
East side location has not allowed a Spurs game to become an event beyond a Spurs game. You park, watch the game, and immediately try to get out of that area. It’s was dumb to put it there. Other cities have lots of bars, restaurants, stores, nearby to make it more than just a basketball game. That ain’t going to happen where it currently sits.
This front office has gotten arrogant as hell, too. Pop is constantly thumbs his nose to reporters and treats them like shit when they ask legitimate questions.
Pop also does a major disservice to the fans that pay hard earned money by constantly resting players throughout the year. You see empty seats? Gee I wonder why? Then he has the balls to say the team played soft, or lacks toughness, or fans deserve their money back.

I think the way they treat the fan base is part of the problem.
The franchise used to spend effort marketing to the fans. They were the only game in town back then, but they still put in effort to get fan interest.
20 years ago they worked hard as an organization to court and cultivate local fans.
There used to be a weekly coach's show on television. "The Coach Brown Show." "The Coach Tark Show" "The Coach Lucas Show" "The Coach Pop Show" These cheaply produced shows had a local flunky sports anchor pooping out softballs for the coach to just ramble on about or praise things. It wasn't a journalism show. It was a commercial.
Heck, when he was an assistant under Brown I think Pop did a semi regular short tv news segment that was movie reviews with Sean or somebody unless I'm completely imagining things.
There used to be weekly radio hits. A Weekly Pop show, appearances by GMs etc. But once there was an excuse to stop doing it, Pop quickly bailed. In the Pop Show instance, someone during a non-Pop interview segment, probably on a different day even, did a bland, unfunny Allen Iverson(?) impression. No one listened to the show, it wasn't a controversy, no one cared. It was an excuse to drop the show though. And Pop never came back once that show was cancelled or changed hosts, and he never switched to a different timeslot. He had his way out.
They just don't market to the fans and engage, they must either be too lazy or think themselves above it. They're too good to be getting out there and hustling up attention and fan excitement. They barely address the media as it is even though they won't get any hostility.
If they don't care enough to try to sell the fans on caring, the fans will stop caring. Or rather, have stopped caring.

Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
The Holts’ divorce puts an added significant risk to the fate of the Spurs.

Good overall post man. I think the growing disdain for what Pop has become is real. Sure everyone respects what he has done in the past, but he’s not that guy anymore, And his shtick with the media and coaching has become tired.
New life needs to be breathed into the franchise and that’s not happening as long as he’s around.
-
Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
Just remember, when you buy tickets, you're helping pay 50 Mills. you're handing over your [possibly] hard-earned money to Patty Mills.
-
Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
:lmao fat antonians bitching because they dont have more restaurants near the arena :lol
When spurs were winning titles nobody was bitching tbqh. So now everything is wrong with the franchise? I guess thats what having a top 5 GOAT in the team for 16 years will do that to you. Meanwhile during those 16 years spur fans were among the worst in the league.
-
Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
Good season ticket seats are hard to come by still. You might be able to find something, but you’re choices will be limited. Obviously Kawhi being out has caused some panic, but ultimately I think him coming back will spark new sales if there is anything much to be had. Anyone thinking it’s going to be different than that is wrong. The Spurs have a very supportive fan base and the limited amount of season tickets available speaks to that. If Kawhi leaves then it will likely get some people to bow out.

I think the reality is that when somone's winning, whatever shtick they have will be embraced and viewed as the trait of someone successful. When Spurs were dominant, Pop's bristling was associated with him being hyper focused on the team and having no time for small talk. Now that they're performing badly, he comes off as a grumpy old man.
But I agree with you 100%, Spurs are in need of something new.

Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
Pop avoided media attention. Contrast that with Kerr who is a media whore. I think I prefer Pop’s approach.

Re: Next seasons season ticket sales will be brutally bad.
These will be the times that try fans' souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their team; but he that stands by it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman.
After 20 record setting years, how many will bottom out when the team struggles to rebuild. I was a fan with season tickets for 20+ years without ever seeing a championship from those seats. Ya got to love the team you got.

This. The Spurs had some of the league's best fans ever back when they weren't even sniffing the conference finals. Die hard Spurs fans aren't going anywhere. This team is literally part of the city's identity.

:lol Poop craves attention more than most coaches in the NBA. The way he treats sideline reporters has always been a way to draw attention to himself. Same thing with his anti-Trump rants. Poop's not stupid - he knows those are easy ways to get headlines that don't involve the atrocious coaching and front office job he's done this season. And then there's the way he coaches, which is designed to ensure that he and his system always get more credit than the players for the Spurs' success.

Oh so his disdain for talking with reporters is really because he wants to get more attention from the reporters, so his players get less attention. That’s pretty crafty.

I don’t know how often they do it, but they do $10 SRO seats in the balcony behind the visitors basket. They even have seats/ stools, food, and a big bar.
