Might as well fuckin' try.

Seems like they were saving their effort....the same thing we accuse them of every freakin’ year
ok so I’m kidding, but.....

Re: 10-2, can they do it?
Could win out
Spurs do what we call spam
Spurs win 10 in a row their confidence will grow

Re: 10-2, can they do it?
they’re going for it I guess, so props to the team for not having a losers mentality to tank at this point

Spurs have better shot then Hillary Clinton being president

Re: 10-2, can they do it?
Sacramento at home is the only "easy" game on the schedule; and even that is at a precarious time (second-to-last game of the season).

I mean, they won 50 games in 2012 even though they only had 66 attempts. This year they get a whopping 82, so no excuses.....

No, but it would be nice to see them try. Just give the effort that they did tonight.

Elite-level team vs. a merely good team, tbh.

Re: 10-2, can they do it?
Getting in the playoffs at 6th seed to avoid Rockets and Dubs in the 1st round would be great. If that means 50 wins, great. And if they did beating teams over .500, should just prepare them better. I think Spurs has enough offense, but missing Kawhi’s defense down the stretch in most of our loses.

This is all I want. Get to that six seed so we have a winnable first round matchup. Gives Kawhi an easier first round matchup to warm up in as well. With Kawhi healthy think we can beat anyone from the three seed down in a 7 game series

I expect that the final version of the standings will look this:
Houston
GSW
Portland
OKC
Spurs
Utah
New Orleans
Minnesota
Spurs probably end up with about 48 wins and get 21st or 22nd pick along with a good chance of advancing in the playoffs

I'd be very surprised if Utah doesn't finish in the top 5, tbh..they're peaking and have an easier schedule than SA..
Pelicans are a mediocre team that have been extremely fortunate in close games(the opposite of the Spurs, who have been losing every close game), I wouldn't be surprised if they fall out, but Davis might be able to carry them there..Denver looks like a lock to miss the playoffs..
Spurs just need to finish 6th..they'll still lose to Portland, but at least they would have a shot..
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
The 10-2 will be tough, but they’ll be close. I think they have a great shot against the Blazers because of the LMA rivalry. He plays like he’s playing now then we will be a hard out. I just don’t want to play Houston first. Their fans are difficult to sit near.
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
Almost certainty not. But if they can sweep this homestand, there may be a slight chance.
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
10 of 12 games against playoff teams or teams in the hunt for the playoffs, and then a mediocre Lakers and shitty Kings team. The fear of dropping out of the playoffs altogether will have them winning a sizable amount of those games but 10 of 12 is asking a lot, more than they're capable of without KL. I think they have 8 more wins in them.
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
Might as well try, have nothing to lose at this point except draft picks if they make the playoffs.
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
I know Pops not crazy about the 50 win streak and will rest players when he get a chance. But continuing that streak would be great.
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
Spurs may need to get to 50 wins to make it, so they'd better try. The team controls its own destiny to the fourth-seed can could get as high as third if healthy. Honestly, though, getting the sixth seed and getting Portland or getting Minny in the four/five match-up seem like the best outcomes.

Utah has a cake walk schedule but the Spurs schedule, pre April, is pretty managable- no jinx but I could see them going 6-1 during that stretch.
Denver and LAC both seem unlikely to make it in tbh.
I don't buy Portland being a favorite vs the Spurs. Spurs are a better defensive team and they are fairly similarly ranked offensive teams. Without Kawhi I would call it fairly even and with him I would obviously give us the edge assuming he can contribute.

I'd like to see Leonard come back and us take down the Dublets in the first round, tbh.

If Leonard is back, the Spurs can beat Golden Showers in a best of seven series. They're inconsistent and a bit tired out. Rockets is a different animal.
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
That’s pushing our luck too much. 3rd seed and down we have a good chance and should give Kwawi and the Spurs to acclimate.

Whether the Spurs would lose to the Trail Blazers just depends on the scenario . . .
1) Leonard is shut down for the reason = definitely lose.
2) Leonard returns, but has an adverse effect on the semblance of rhythm being established = probably lose.
3) Leonard returns, but has a neutral or positive effect = probably win.
Positive would generally = definitely win, but keep in mind, the not quite himself, minutes limit version is the best that can hoped for at this point.
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
man this streak could have gone for 30+ years. Damn Pop and his terrible end-game lineups that cost the Spurs many games.

What if he goes back into 2017 MVP candidate mode pre-Zaza? Meaning 35-40 mpg, 25 ppg, 8 fta per game, etc

That isn't happening, not in the first round at least.

Even if we lose after that, it would be worth missing out on a lottery pick, tbh...

Yup. Tho with Houston likely taking it after that, idk. I have a hard time accepting the fact that either will take it all.

Texas pride, bruh. I wouldn't mind Houston taking it out of all the high seeded contenders on either side, except for maybe the Raptors though I hate Ibaka.
Yes Chris Paul is a little bitch, a lot like Dirk back in the day, but 2011 was OK with everyone here because at least
a) the Lakers got swept and humiliated
b) the Heatles got their cookie taken, &
c) the LOB trophy returned to Texas for a year.
In hindsight, there was probably a d) the Thunderefs got beat and e) the Spurs were out of the way in the playoffs early that year so no heartbreak.
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
Letting the Mavs win in 2011 was a lot like the Eagles winning this year for diehard Cowboy fans. Yes they finally got one, but does that really measure up to five?
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
7-2 now. It's getting more and more possible. Beating Houston would be the only real surprise at this point. I so want them to win these next four, set up a relatively doable race for 50 and find a way to eek out a double-digit win streak in this crazy season.
Go get it.

Re: 10-2, can they do it?
Pop will punt the game on Sunday. Expect Aldridge and Manu to sit.

Nah that's midseason shit, pop might quit during the game of course but you can't blunt momentum by during guys

Re: 10-2, can they do it?
Hoping Rockets are in a rest mode or at least limiting minutes by time we play them.
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
I didn't think they could do it, but they've knuckled down after getting over the Leonard drama. Back to grinding winning ball.

You'll see Kawhi playing that game before you see Pop benching Aldridge Sunday.

Haha, nice role playing there. There's some truth in this. I love Pop but sometimes this attitude irks me.
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
CROFL..we still could get that 3rd seed after all..
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
If we win 50 games, Aldridge will deserve to have his jersey retired here even if he never gets further in the playoffs.
This will be very hard to do, given the SOS, and limited help. But heroic if he does it given he's carrying the team almost entirely on his own--especially during this stretch run. At the end of the season too, he's gotta be tired.

Five wins in a row; some coming against rivals in the playoff race. I'm starting to believe, tbh.

Feels like those choked Pelicans or Lakers games will be the difference in the end with regard to the 50 win streak and the 3rd seed.

It's possible. The rockets game seems like the only game where a loss is guaranteed. The Lakers and Kings game should be guaranteed wins. The rest of the remaining games can go either way.
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
It doesn't matter. There's no banner for it, no bonus, nothing. It's a random "this is neat" comment that reporters make when exempting the Spurs from the same shit sandwich the rest of the league has to eat in the press when they make bad or no off season moves to improve their standing, ergo losing in the playoffs. "another 50 win season for coach Pop and the Spurs... it's become like death and taxes... just a solid program over there in San Antonio"
vs
"Spurs record streak of 50 win seasons comes to an end as the finish with 49 wins, 1 shy of the mark... what a great program they have over there in San Antonio, Pop has created such a culture over there, guys know when they come in what they are expected to do and they do it. It's why you see so many other teams trying to emulate that system, and why you see so many Pop disciples coaching in the league today"
"In other news, Kawhi said "fuck Pop, my leg hurts... fuck you" just a great player, solid all around on both ends of the floor. If not the best then top two 2-way player in the league when he's healthy"
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
50 wins matters a lot. I don't give a flying fuck about who hangs what banners. If titles were the only thing that mattered to me, I'd just watch the playoffs. As it is, I watch the first 82 games as well, and the team keeping the streak going, even to lose in the first round, would make me a happy fan. RJ couldn't kill the streak. The lockout couldn't kill the streak. So if not even Kawhi missing the season is able to kill it, it will be legend.
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
50 wins with patty as the lead guard is pretty impressive tbh
i think they just might do it

Not to jinx it, but feels like they’re pretty safe now on the playoff front. So why not go for 50?
You don’t hang banners for it, but it sure matters a lot more than a divisional banner which many teams hang. And even more impressive if they can do it down a top 5 MVP vote getter the last two seasons.
-
Re: 10-2, can they do it?
No.. Just make the playoffs and keep that run alive. However we may be rebuilding this off-season. Since our best player is soft..
