Re: Kawhi is not resigning here
Sit out, collect your money, get traded to a bigger market, make up your lost money there after coming back 100% (instead of risking yourself carrying bums to a CF exit at best), and collect your new Jordan Brand contract money in that bigger market.
Makes sense.

I’m just pointing out facts. He’s getting paid 20M and played 9 games. Team doctors advise one thing yet the player goes against it..which is fine to an extent but leaving the team/players out to dry is not cool. Having them to answer your questions isn’t cool.
I’ve made it clear what I think is going on and it’s definitely a unique deal that’s NEVER happened in league history.,
So I get why it’s frustrating
I don't remember you saying what you think is going on...

It really seems Kawhi and his camp are going on the offensive after Pop's "group' comments of the weekend by giving things to the talking heads.
Chris Carter yesterday (paraphrasing on all these) 'It is more about placing the streaks of 50 win games and making the playoffs ahead Kawhi's long term health."
Chris Broussard yesterday: "Spurs are nice to KL and his group to their faces but saying negative things to the media behind theirs backs. Essentially calling the Spurs disingenuous and that the leaks are from PATFO and meant to damage Kawhi's rep"
Stephen A today: "Kawhi is a quiet guy, doing nothing, but Spurs are throwing shade at him." Quotes Sjax without noting he has issues with Pop and may be biased.
All at once? Clearly, they have gone on the attack to portray KL as victim here. All 3 reporters pushing the story-line that the Spurs are to blame.
KL (or his people) vs Spurs in the media. Wow! It's like Kobe vs Shaq or Geroge Karl vs Boogie. Each playing the talking heads. So weird for the Spurs.

Now I saw it... Baseless speculation but with all that's being thrown around why not put that one out there? That's disrespectful and inconsiderate to teammates and the coaching staff if true. Frankly I wouldn't want to play with a teammate like that. I'd much rather belive this is all about an endorsement deal and the uncle. But for now, I am still assuming he's had a setback in his rehab...

Notice how Kellerman brought up the idea that Kawhi's people don't want him to be in SA due to him having lack of opportunities for endorsements. Once he brought up the idea Molly the dumb c-nt immediately interrupted him and brought up the Spurs misdiagnosis of Kawhi's injury. The dumb c-nt double downed at the end of the segment by saying Pop is throwing shade at Kawhi's camp. I laughed when Stephen A said it's really weird about what's going on with the Spurs and Kawhi and that he doesn't know what's going on. My reaction was it's not weird since its clear one side is at fault but you don't want to admit it since it's Kawhi's side that is causing all the problems and that goes against your racially biased pro-player agenda. It's clear there is an agenda here to take down the Spurs and ignore the truth about what's actually happening.

Re: Kawhi is not resigning here
The whole endorsement thing is stupid. The Admirable had a ton of endorsements while being in SA. He was all over TV back then.
It comes down two things: 1) Being very good and 2) Having a marketable personality.

You're right, she clearly changes the thrust of Max's question from endorsements to "hey the Spurs doctors screwed up" which shifts the blame back on the Spurs.

I agree. I grew up in NC and I saw LJ and Alonzo get national commercials back in the day which was amazing considering back then Charlotte was even a lot smaller than what is now. I also remember Shaq and Penny getting a ton of commercials when they played in a super small market in Orlando. They got them because like you said they had marketable personalities just like Drob. Kawhi just doesn't have that personality.

Re: Kawhi is not resigning here
I'm speculating that this animosity grew last year in the WCSF and WCF. Spurs encourage Kawhi to play on a bum ankle against the Rockets, sprained it, got better and then had him play against the Warriors and re-injured. Kawhi being paranoid and weak minded had all trust he had with the team broken. Feeligns carried over the summer, from what I know he practiced elsewhere and not in SA. Uncle/whoever started whispering in his ear. Not being paid enough by Jordan brand, Finals MVP being paid shit by team, completely brainwashed and now he is doing this to preserve himself.
Pop being a military dictator type will not have this. Kawhi just lost himself the super max extension and possibly some titles with the Spurs, we could have beat the warriors if Kawhi was playing with LMA playing at this level.

When did TD ever blow off a season when he was medically cleared to play by team doctors? Tim wanted to play when he needed knee surgery and he was younger than Leonard at the time.

Also keep in mind Tim was free agent in the summer of '00 and still wanted to play in the '00 playoffs even if it meant risking his future. I remember it well because I was in hschool at the time and was angry at Pop for not allowing Tim to play.

Re: Kawhi is not resigning here
I wonder how this affects the SPURS long term in free agency going forward. All the bad press on both sides i dont see helping the SPURS land a big fish moving forward. KL & LMA together would help us land a top tier free agent. But with only 1 star & and a bunch of role players doesn't look to appealing to potential free agents.

Peobably the reason long time spurs fans take the spurs side here.

Tim was a warrior pure and simple. It is why he has 5 rings. He should have 6, and easily could have won 7.. 2006 was the best Spurs team to not win it all.. Duncan scored 40 plus in game 7 against the Mavs.. It is why some players with talent bang around this league for a while, put up some stats, make way too much money and just retire.. While others retire as sporting legends.. He was all about that competition, his team and trying to be the best.. Leonard has shown to be selfish and soft..

Re: Kawhi is not resigning here
Lol People comparing dinky commercials to a lifetime Jordan Brand deal in a bigger market. Admiral wishes he could've sniffed that kind of money with his endorsments.
-
Re: Kawhi is not resigning here
The admiral had one of the best contracts in sports in his first few years as a spur . Doubt endorsement money ever mattered tbh . Dont remember the specifics but it was a contract along the lines that it allowed for adjustments to make sure he was amongst the top 2 earners of the nba.
Talk about sacrifice. Knowing the spurs couldnt afford to keep paying him that typeof contract & remain competitive. He tore it up & had it restructured . Took out the top earning component.

"clearly" Kawhi's people went to the media? Could it be that the hosts are making stuff up and speculating the SAME way we do every day on here? Hmmm...i guess that's impossible

So we are just going to ignore it then? Be mad at Molly for not bringing up the other side, but completely ignore what she actually said? Noted...

U are calling Kawhi soft for being injured... When EVERY player gets injured and misses games... Duncan missed plenty! Was he soft too?

I can’t remember any player missing a whole year after being cleared to play

Wonder what Game of Zones will do with the Kawhi situation.

Being gay is not a bad thing nor should be used as an insult you prick.
