Speaking of well-dressed bball players...
http://men.style.com/gq/fashion/landing?id=content_3966
Raised in France, Tony Parker broke into the NBA in 2001 at age 19, after making a name for himself on the French junior national team. Not that he’s all French. His father, who’s American, played college ball at Loyola in Chicago and then professionally overseas. His mother, who’s Dutch, was a fashion model. Parker has learned from both of them, managing to score impressively both on and off the court.
Since you’re doing a fashion story for GQ, I want to know one thing: Who the hell dresses Tim Duncan? What’s his problem?
It’s clear he doesn’t dress up. He never cuts his hair. You could safely say he’s not the most fashion-conscious person. Maybe he’s going more for that au naturel thing, that roots thing. I don’t know. But he definitely doesn’t know how to dress, that’s for sure. [laughs] The best-dressed player on the team without a doubt is Bruce Bowen. He’s always wearing suits, and he gets on me all the time about my style. My first year in the NBA, I was always wearing jeans. Bruce took me aside and bought me ten suits, full ensembles, you know, with the shirts and everything.
Do the guys on the team dog you for caring about your personal style? Like being on People’s 50 Most Beautiful People list?
First of all, that was two years ago, I think—2003. But for a year, yeah, it was tough.
They still call you pretty boy?
Still do. Pop [Spurs coach Gregg Popovich] always kids me in practice and tells the guys they shouldn’t hit me hard or hurt my face. Still ragging, you know.
You’re dating Eva Longoria these days. Does she dress you?
Eva chooses. Or her stylist does. It depends. [laughs]
Eva told me you guys met in the locker room after a Spurs game. Is that true?
We actually met in the shower. [laughs]
I don’t think people in France understand how big the show is in the States.
It’s true, they don’t, but it’s starting this fall over here in France, so soon they will.
Do you think your popularity in America is helped by the fact that your name is Tony and not something like Jean-Philippe?
I think so. I mean, nobody in the States had any idea I was from France at the beginning. They were sure I was American. It was a while before people caught on that I was fifty-fifty.
Since we’ve been speaking French, I can’t tell if you have an accent when you speak English.
I have a slight accent, but I don’t want to lose it. The girls like it too much.

Re: Speaking of well-dressed bball players...
Shoulda posted it in the other thread as well but. ....
LMFAO.
Man, Tony better not get all caught up in worldly things while being on top of it all. If his jumper isn't fixed I guess we know why.

That jacket looks a little tight. Perhaps there's an indigent rookie he can pass it down to before the season starts.

Re: Speaking of well-dressed bball players...
This suit is actually kinda sweet. He could try out to be the first French James Bond here.

Re: Speaking of well-dressed bball players...
that first suit look just a little too.... how should I put it..... Snug, if you get my meaning.
This wool suit is the pimp though. Some nice sunglasses and a lower cost and I'd buy that shit. :elephant

But technically he won that jump ball against Timmy in the playoffs... Earl's got hops! :lol

Re: Speaking of well-dressed bball players...
Bruce BOUGHT him 10 suits? Where do I sign up? That was sweet of him. The only thing I ever picture Tony wearing though is this purple corduroy suit he wore at some after game function...it was hilarious!
I like the way Timmy dresses.
A slight accent? Uh, no. Unless it's changed over the summer. But it is hot, this girl definitely likes it :)
