Instead of retiring LDN’s Jersey, Spurs should put up a statue made of bricks

Re: Next Retired Jersey After TP and Manu
I would say Dejonte if this season he could improve to either 9 PPG, 3 APG, or shoot 45% from the field.

Re: Next Retired Jersey After TP and Manu
Why is he called LDN though lol. I know what it sands for but why him?. I wouldn't be surprised if they retired Danny's number. The 2013 postseason was killer. If they did it with Bowen (meh they un-retired it, but still), why not Danny?

I tend to agree with you. However, since guys like Avery and Moore and Bowen are already up there, my sense of fairness would be offended by raising the bar for a guy like Danny, who I believe is every bit as deserving as those guys. Basically, the Spurs set a few bad precedents.

Re: Next Retired Jersey After TP and Manu
Clearly Aldridge. Guy seems to have fitted perfectly on what the culture of the team and City means.
No matter if we win a championship or not, if he retires a spur he'll get his jersey retired.

LA if he gets a ring for us and finishes his career as a Spurs.

Last off-season wasn't what I would call "fitting perfectly."

Re: Next Retired Jersey After TP and Manu
The honor is really watered down with Little Genitals' #6 up in the rafters.
-
Re: Next Retired Jersey After TP and Manu
Why is everyone acting like Manu's jersey in the rafters is almost a guarantee? We retiring Matty Bonner's too?
-
Re: Next Retired Jersey After TP and Manu
Matt Bonner. 2 championships longest tenured spur after the big 3, Dave, Gervin.

If he goes to the Clips and averages 20-10 for 2 years he'll be in the rafters :lol

Re: Next Retired Jersey After TP and Manu
I understand this thinking. But it’s a team hof, any team can decide who of their past players they want to honor. I don’t agree with some they have already done. But respect the decision. I really wouldn’t do a current player, Danny or that Canadian with an uncle.

Re: Next Retired Jersey After TP and Manu
Spurs will never retire kahwitters jersey after the shitshow this year.

Number 2 aside, LMA's adjustment to the Spurs hasn't been all that smooth. I don't think the odds are that great that he will win a chip in SA. Consequently his stats, tenure and the fans' affection will be determinative. But tenure alone won't get his jersey retired. He lacks the appeal to ever be a real fan favorite, so he needs to pile up some massive stats for his Spurs career.

You never know, GS could very well dominate the next two years and even longer. Your are looking at a very young team that could win 5 or 6 NBA titles.
If that happens, a team that fights them hard, even losing, could be a "historic" team also, if that team is the Spurs with lma, it nails it.
Also the team could evolve next year, or luck could come our way. You never know.
I know LMA had it very difficult to be a fan favorite. But he endured something that if he stays a Spurs, will be remembered, and that is carrying a team when you're Superstar player was trying everything to sink it.

Yes, at the moment, that's the currency he is banking. When all is said and done, however, that was only one season. I'm not sure how long he can draw on that account especially if all of the good fortune you mention doesn't come to pass. In the absence of a chip/chips, LMA would have to perform at last year's levels for quite a few years. I doubt he can.

Re: Next Retired Jersey After TP and Manu
If LMA plays well the rest of his contract and he retires with the Spurs...I think they’ll retire his number. Be strange to have the same number retired twice. LMA picked the Spurs in free agency and re-signed (although we all know it was about the money) with the Spurs. I still can’t see them retiring Danny Green’s number. I think Patty has a better chance than him.

You mean Matt "Red Mamba" Bonner, the Ibaka Tamer.
