I think with Dubs dominating, it's a good time for the Spurs to start to slowly get back in contention. Need to get Pau and Mills traded for some picks. Would be a good place to start.

Cool story
Nice contribution.
I don’t think anyone is trading a 1st round pick for either Gasol or Mills. Gasol contract only has a $6.7 million guarantee for the final year.
Right, someone will give us picks for Mills.
There are sucker teams
Maybe not a pick but would take a promising SF
So right now is the best time to rebuild slowly because there is a dominant team? When isn’t there one? Why is now the time? Why wasn’t it 6 years ago? Or 15 years from now? Oujia board tell ya this? Why now? I doubt PATFO we’re waiting for this very moment to start a slow build. How slow should this be in your opinion?
:lol soft rebuild
Stupid ass people think we can just tank and get another David Robinson or Timmy. That ain’t going to happen in our lifetime nor are we getting Lebron or other top 5 players
I'm thinking 2 or 3 seasons. Kawhi's departure well definitely be felt and so will Danny Greens, to a lesser extent.
When did your clock start? Around the time Leonard was hiding in broom closets?Or once Verde became unaffected at shooting?
Pretty much the time Kawhi went MIA.
I don’t know man. I’ve been drinking a bit. But I felt Kawhis
absence last year was felt.. and Danny hasn’t been the same since around the time he got his contract. Don’t know why your waiting 2-3 years to see. I guess that’s your slow rebound plan?
Imo we should go all out this year and take no prisoners rebuilds are for soft minded people like kawhitter and Pop is good enough to coach a high school team to a ring
If Lonnie pans out, we will be fine :)
Right now, I think both the Rockets and the Dubs took a step backward and also it most likely this is our last year playing at this level. HOU has some really bad contracts and the Dubs will most likely see at least one of their stars gone. Curry is injury prone, and Andre is on his way out. And to me, Cousins might not work that well as poeple say and it has the potential to explode at any time.
But still, they are better than us. I think the Spurs can finish 3rd this year. And we have a legit shot against HOU.
One thing that Pop said is we're gonna run a lot 'cause DJM will be our starting point guard and everyone else will need to run with him.
Thinking to our roster, there are players that run (Forbes, Mills, Walker, DDR, Gay, Poeltl, Bertans, Metu) but some that don't...or at least are not that keen to play an up tempo style. Pau, LMA, Belinelli, White comes to mind. That could mean that the use of these players will come when Pop decide to slower the rythm of the game...Talking about our bigs, the runners are Poeltl, Bertans, Gay (if he plays as a big) and Metu. LMA has a sense in playing an up tempo style only if he's playing center...aka not with Pau or Poeltl on court with him.
That could mean that Pau role on the team could be deminished...if we consider Poeltl can play only as a center.
However, the point is next season we are probably gonna see a total different style of game respect to previous years, and probably a lot more players involved...
Opening post worthy of the Pulitzer Prize. It damn sure has my vote. Just sayin'.
It's not that crazy of a thought. Getting rid of some bad contracts like Gasol and Mills (someone will take him) is a good way to start. Even if we keep Mills, he may be that spark we need off the bench at times.
I just think the salary cap should start to clear up and maybe we can move the dead weight on this team. I'd love for us to compete for a title this year, but it's not happening.
Bend over, I'll show you soft
Lonnie, Murray, White, Poeltl, Metu, etc...
Getting rid of the longest tenured guy with so much change this summer probably isn't a good thing, especially for the young guys coming in. They're in a good position with youth for the future if things pan out properly. A lot of promise from some of these guys
imo the spurs shouldve kept lee, simmons, dedmon over the trash thats pau, mills, green = these 3 clowns regress so much like they forgot how to play the game...
what a pathetic roster lol
Is a soft rebuild ultimately more satisfying than soft porn?
Bend over, I'll fucking give you a soft rebuild.
There's no such thing as a soft rebuild.
A rebuild looks nothing like this.
Spurs run when Murray gets the rebound on transition offense. But I still expect them to go to LMA down low, Derozan facilitating PNR. I think Spurs can go big with LMA and Pau/Poeltl, or smallball with LMA at 5, whatever the defense calls. I think this team has the ability to switch 1-5 as today’s NBA, or take advantage of lesser team with LMA/Pau banging and grinding low and Derozan pnr with the big guys. I have to admit this could be the most versatile team we have in years
I think our youngsters will make some noise, but we are 4-5 years from being contenders if our youngsters pan out. Noone is beating the warriors or Celtics anytime soon. I see Durant going to the Lakers with Kawhi next year. After this year, itl be a good time to go into full rebuild mode if this roster doesnt pan out. Meaning trading DeRozan and LA if we dont make any noise this year.
:lol yeah losing same year your franchise player, DG, Manu Ginobili and Tony is called a soft rebuild... imagine a hard one
:pop:Mills ain't going anywhere, we need veteran leadership at the PG position and someone to teach Spurs culture.
:pop:: Murray slow it down, Pau needs to catch his breath so he can scream for no reason when he shoots the ball.
Op's mom got a hard rebuild.
