:lmao Yeah, I guess it is. If people are still trying to find the positives in Bryn Forbes, forget looking under rocks, You'll have to dig up the earth's crust. I don't care how well he plays in glorified scrimmages, he provides zero impact on a basketball court during actual games. I don't know why people are so enamoured with a player's offense that they're willing to forget or gloss over their defensive shortcomings. What little, microscopic production he might provide offensively ends up being given right back on the defensive end. And this year, the Spurs won't be able to hide him on the court, not even a little bit.

I don't know but, could it be that he's being matched up against poor shooters? Sometimes, players just miss shots. Does the metrics show how many times he F'ed up his assignments or completely lost track of his man? I've seen chickens with no head have better awareness of their surroundings. Maybe this is where the luck factor comes into play.

It would be great if it were a matter of finding the right pairings for Bryn to flourish - as in the lineup last night with Dijon and DeMar. The Spurs would be a great deal more dynamic with Bryn consistently nailing threes at a percentage in the high 30's.

I think the two year deal was them locking up a player that they liked and that other teams didn't seem to have interest in. I think fan perception- at least mine, certainly, is that he is fairly one dimensional with 3pt shooting being his only average to above average skill. He shot it well, if extremely inconsistently season- that being said, if White had that same opportunity i'm not sure that he wouldn't have played as well. As a deep bench guy, he's fine but I really hope that he isn't a rotation player.

Give him some real chances throughout the season and see how he goes. If he doesn't do well and shows he's not ready, then maybe send him to Austin later in the year.
Oh, and I forgot the main reason I want him to play - I believe he has a lot more defensive potential than almost all of the other wings in the team. With his size, strength and athleticism, he has a chance to be a really good defender, so that is the main reason I'd like to see him getting court time. I want to see if he can start out focusing on defense and go from there. This team badly needs perimeter defense on the wing.
I really do wonder, if Donovan was on the Spurs last season, would he have played and become the player he did for Utah in SA, or would Pop have not played him much at all?
Pop does play rookies, but not unless they play at a position of need. Kawhi was a legit SF- something that the Spurs desperately needed and slotted him in behind RJ. Splitter ,on the other hand, got injured early and missed some of training camp and the preseason iirc and that cost him a chance to crack the murderers row of the Duncan, Blair, McDyess, Bonner rotation :lol

This is something I think many people may have whiffed on completely regarding Forbes. He doesn't have the physical tools to be a good defender apart from being relatively quick, but he does put himself where he is required to be by his defensive assignments. That alone can bother opponents into shooting a lower percentage.
He may look ineffective guarding someone one-on-one but the point is he is there to do it in the first place; that's something in itself.

Well, could it be because (1) players guarded by Bryn are expected to force the issue and score (2) that player may not be the most efficient offensive player (3) Bryn already knows that said player is going to attempt to score (instead of pass).
Paired with Mills or Parker, the opponents offense still has a option to exploit the other player (leading to more unpredictability).
Let's get real, Spurs got a bargain for two years with Forbes. $6m for two years for a player who is young and has shown improvement in the last 2 years is a bargain by NBA standards. He's one of the few players in the team that nobody is going to be surprised if he hits 5 3 pointers in a game.

Walker playing in G-league will help him improve his game. I want him to get to know the system first before he becomes a regular. I expect him to play mid-way of the season.
