I’m sensing that this team has a couple of weak spots on the roster. May need a tweak or two.

Lakerfans had the mid-00's drought, as well as the last handful of seasons. Spurfans on the other hand have been spoiled, they've never seen the spurs suck during ST's existence, so this is uncharted territory to a lot of them and just might be a humbling experience.
My advice to spurfans, don't quit ST when the going gets tough. That's chickenshit.

Still hard to believe this team is this bad.

Take ot from a Day 1 Raptors fan: You have to develop a self depracating sense of humor. The RealGM Raptors forum has long found ways to lighten the mood, look for the silver lining or look on the bright side. It will take a couple of years to understand what it really feels like to no longer be one of the revered franchises and to have hope snatched from you very early in the season, but these things happen in cycles. It'll come back around for you again some day. Until then, learn to watch DeRozan suck the joy out of watching the team you love, and understand why the Raptor fanbase feels little sympathy for being on the receiving end of this deal... a deal that is karma payback for Vince Carter doing us over in a similar way 15 years ago

Thanks, man. I hadn't even smiled for the last few hours. You gave me a big smile and even a little chortle.

I have also been a Hornets fan for many years due to them being my home team. So I already have experience with losing but the experience Spur fans are going to have with losing will be much worse due to losing arguably a top 3 player in Kawhi. Unfortunately I don't think the majority of this board will ever get over losing Kawhi. You will see Kawhi fan boys in here for years not let it go until Kawhi is old and washed up.

Don't know if you did that on purpose.

Random thought but you know what’s crazy, if you think about it almost every team in the league has some sort of franchise player or has a solid plan for future except the spurs. Maybe I’m over analyzing but I feel like even the the crappy teams are in better shape going further, suns have booker/ayton, Mavs have donic, kings have Fox, all the teams in the western conference have a good trajectory going further. Who knows maybe the spurs figure it out but this team right now is terrible

Knicks are still a complete dumpster fire. Not even sure if Porzingod coming back as the same player and getting better can change them. The Wizards also have an extremely bleak future with their salary cap situation and Wall's albatross. Bulls will be trash for awhile as well. Spurs at least can have a clean slate salary-wise after next season (or at least have an avenue to get there without losing much) and control all their draft picks. Just need to hope PATFO have wisened up or retired by then without mucking things up further in the meantime.

The Spurs have two all stars in DDR and Aldridge and an atrocious surrounding cast around them (outside of Gay) with a bunch of miss-fits. And those two guys’ games are being impacted significantly because the Spurs lack key role players. And we’re at the point now where both guys seem to be packing it in. Never thought I’d say it but Gasol’s injury has been a huge hit too.
Not to mention the brightest two young players - Murray and Walker - havent played a game this year.
An infusion of youth is needed. It’ll be here next year in one way shape or form. This is a lost season, so might as well grab a top 10 pick. East is so bad that it’ll be hard to do much better than that.

Shock horror. Did not expect a beatdown at home. Its getting embarrassing. They shouldnt be playing this bad
From reports pop is taking the heat on how bad they playing. Changes need to happen.

Re: Game Thread: Spurs vs Rockets Fri. (11/30) - 7:00/C (3:00am Riga Time)
Has anybody heard the recent interviews?
"We need to get better"
"We are focused on ourselves"
"We have a new group that is learning how to play together"
"We need to play better defense"
they make a bunch of excuses and that includes Pop, then come out the next game and make the same mistakes

Spurs could watch all the film footage, make adjustments, scout better, etc. It wont make a difference when they don't have the length, athleticism, and talent to compete. They're seriously like the least athletic team in the league.

We all know that, but it seems like Pop doesn't, considering the statements during interviews

Look on the bright side. At the end of the year we will have played as hard as we can, didn't tank, and still wound up in the lottery. Let's see the glass as half full.

As you know, I was quite critical of him in the preseason and he's definitely not a PG. And he should not be starting in a playoff team. Sure in the Spurs he's starting, but the Spurs aren't a playoff team.
However, to point out that he should not be starting is not the same as saying he's not an NBA player. There are teams that he could help. There are teams that need 3 pt shooting, a designated sniper to come in for a few minutes (not 30 fucking minutes like Pop is doing) and give you a spark. He could also be a regular player on some bench, even a good bench. He can shoot well and is a lot more aggressive and efficient scoring than last season when he was hesitant. But he shouldn't play 30 minutes for a good team.
I think it's possible he has some value to a contender. I frankly think there are benches he could help. The issue is what he can fetch you in return and I don't see anyone giving up a 1st round pick for him, but a 2nd? sure.
I don't see him getting traded unless he's packaged with someone though. He has a small contract. The contract that makes sense to trade is Patty, and keep Forbes. It's fine to have one small bench chucker who can shoot well, but not two.
