I don’t know...Manu4Tres brought up a good point; could a team even get insurance on KD if they signed him? I would think that if they can’t, they wont max him with that injury.
But yeah, I can see a team willing to max him all things considered if it means getting him in house. But depending on when KD’s option needs to be exercised that puts KD in a tough spot. Are other players willing to sign with “x team” knowing KD won’t play for a year and that if he does come back he could be 65% of who he was before?
It’s really tricky.

Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
Good point on Flakers needing to win now mode so either he stays with GS or goes to Nets or NY? I think both will be at his door step with a big fat contract in hand. So the FLAKERS have to go all in for KY, Or AD and I don’t think they have a chance with either player.

Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
"According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Pelicans and Celtics are involved in a stare-down, and he thinks the Los Angeles Lakers are being used to drive up the price for his star. “I think it’s a good sign that David Griffin is shopping the number four pick. That at least means he’s open to a deal with the Lakers,” Windhorst said. “But I think all of this is a maneuver to draw as much as he possibly can out of the Celtics.”
– via Booth Newspapers"
I hope he's right. That would leave LA without AD and with no real prospects for an all star addition. I would think DDR would be much more valuable to them if this happens.
-
Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
If AD goes to Boston then it's more likely Kyrie stays. That would leave the Knicks and Nets going to plan B.

Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
do AD and kyrie have a good relationship or are people implying kyrie would be more likely to stay because of the talent?
-
Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
The Klay and KD injuries definitely help the Spurs. Much tougher now for other franchises to form a super team. If AD goes East there will be no clear cut favorite in the west unless Kawhi joins LeBron which is unlikely

I think it’s the latter; don’t know anything about AD/Kyrie’s relationship. But man, if LA cant pull in AD things get messy for them.
If LA strikes out, that is 50% of Brons deal wasted and worse? The youth’s value can only plummet IMO. They are already viewed as core pieces for a player like AD, so if they continue to show what they appear to really be, that really hurts LA.
Beyond that, there were already reports of Ingram, Zo and others being pissed at Bron/La for how the trade deadline went down. If they get smeared all over trade rumors again and fail? Do those guys demand trades from LA?
-
Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
But please, for the love of God Boston, pull the trigger for AD. Not only do I want him in the East, but that would make things so messy for LA. Do it Ainge.
-
Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
there should also be a lot more suitors who'd be interested in adding DeRozan, especially if AD goes to Boston. That would really be best case scenario. And let the Knicks somehow get Kawhi please:rollin

Weren’t they holding out assets in a Kawhi trade gambling that A.Davis was going to be available? This is the time. Not a fan of Ainge personally but if Spurs aren’t getting Davis then Boston is a good choice.

Yes, but apparently things with Kyrie really turned south after that which is a new-ish variable that didnt exist at that time.

The Pelicans don't even have that pick. Was it a mistake, or is Windhorst just assuming that AD to the Lakers is a done deal?

Ya - that’s pretty standard stuff tbh...I think everyone knows the lakers are in the running and NO is talking to them. It’s not uncommon at all to ask around to other teams what they value that pick in so you can weigh that into all the offers you receive.

Now that it's semi-official since we got Woj bombed, we have one shiny semi-new DeMar DeRozan for that pick if NO is interested.

i wonder if the fact that two veteran assistent coach have gone out means that next season we project to go all in with young kids development...Becky looks similar to Pop in the way she manage relationships and probably, also considering her age, as main assistent coach could probably work better with young guys...so ther's a chance that that both DDR and LMA will be traded this year after a good season for both.

And the Spurs FO will stand pat with very minor changes...what a,joke. I suppose standing pat made a bit of sense when they had all the big three in their primes but that will not work anymore especially with this team and none on this Roster should be untouchable. I'm sorry but this FO is completely out of touch.

Damn, I don't think it's a good think Walker to do. He was the guy posting vids of Murray rehabbing during last year, so I assume the two are friendly. But maybe not? This should blow over, but you never know with some people. Kawhi supposedly quit on the Spurs because of a random comment.

I would love Randle on the spurs. He can handle the ball up. Plays tough and rebounds. Also he shoots 34% on threes this past year on over 150 attempts I think. He could lead the bench or start. Maybe could be had for the full mid-level
-

No way. I'd say 15 million and up (probably more like 20). He scored over 20 ppg and Bogdanovic's salary is likely in the same range

Randle was the best of the Lakers' young players.
He's somewhat duplicative of LMA but he'd still be a nice addition to the Spurs.

Trade Demar for Beal. Pretty much the same salary. Beal has two years left and Derozan has one. Throw in a pick

Are you hearing anything on if Spurs will stand pat as is with #19 and #29? Or make some sort of move? Not asking for anything definitive or specific to compromise something. Just curious if there’s something likely to happen

Fit wise, thats not bad... Beal is basically who we want Lonnie to be. Though with Beal, we have a redundance in guards who specialize in shooting (Lonnie, Forbes, Beal, Beli) versus now where we have a redundance in playmaking (DJ, White, DeMar).

That would actually be a great pick up. Good defender at the 3, 24 years old and shouldn't cost much. RC should be on the phone ASAP

I'd take that gamble since we got Chip. He's only Derrick White's age, plenty of room to develop. He was great the year before and fell off a cliff last season. So there is some untapped potential and his market value is really low. Could be a reclamation project that pays off in the long run and since we won't have a lot of cap space I'd rather have a 24-year old around than a Quincy Pondexter
-

Being that the Spurs worked out Sekou Doumbouya who's projected as the 9th pick, this might be the move they are looking at to ship out DeRozan. Suns seem to be the only team in the top 10 trying to move the pick besides NOLA
