The Celtics have probably been tampering with him ever since things started going south with Kyrie. How else do you explain them already having a deal in place before free agency?
-
Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
maybe kyrie can unjam his head from his ass... but even then, his attitude and even style of play need adjustments.
he's now getting what he expected to get when he was in boston: a team he can control. and team that would actually need him...

Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
I like the move for Brooklyn, getting Kyrie gives them a real shot at Durant and it helps them in the short-term, as well..Irving won't be causing any issues with the current roster, either, since there isn't an alternative to him..

And hes only about 5M more per year than Russell and a much better player.

Russell also has worse shot selection and even worse defense than Kyrie:lol

Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
Nets got 100% better with Kyrie instead of DLO. Very good move by Sean Marks. People are just prisoners of the moment. I think they're gonna sign KD as well now.

SA is 100% not going to land any top tier FA's and their not landing most of the second level guys either.
If clearing DDR and landing Bogs opens up room to add another rotation player then it might be worth it but salary dumping DDR straight up to land Bogs isn't enough to move the meter. I get that he's a better fit but unless there's another move partnered up or as a result of a Bogs signing this isn't a great idea. Certainly not an idea the FO would entertain.
The allure of Bogs has clouded ST judgement. You guys have way over valued him.
Swapping out DDR for Bojan would be an clear improvement. DeRozan is more talented, for sure, but DDR was a poor fit as evident by the fact that the Spurs were better with him off the floor this past season in the RS and PS.
His lack of shooting mean that he needs the ball to be effective but White is as good of a play maker as he is ,already, and probably needs to be the one running the offense. Bojan is a 50/40/80 shooter that wouldn't need to dominate the ball and closer to average defensively- a big upgrade over DeRozan.
White, Murray, Bojan, Gay, Aldridge
Mills, Forbes, Walker, Bertans, Poeltl
Thats a much better rotation, with 4 shooters and a rim runner on the bench and potentially 4 shooters around Aldridge with White and Murray being able to take on more play making responsibilities. That's a top 10 defense and offense, compared to 20th and 7th last season.

Completely hypothetical jibberish .... if the Clippers had to move Gallinari's contract, should the Spurs be interested?

If we cant get bogdanovic maybe if we can move bertans and belli (Bello going to a 3rd team and clips paying the compensation to get him there) for gallo then yes we should be interested. He'd expired on the same timeline and can play minutes at the 3 and 4 and space the court. A DJ, white, DDR, gallo, and Aldrich lineup would be interesting.

I also think it can make sense for Indy. Clearly the only reason you make the move is because Bojan declined your offer. Oladipo is gone for most of the year, so a “star” who can fill the stats this season could be a welcome addition. If he opts out next summer, no harm foul, you were losing Bojan anyway. Oladipo comes back healthy.

With all the talk about Durant/KL team up discussion today, it made me wonder. Got on a trade machine site, not ESPN, and played a big game of 'what if'. I made it where we would take on Gallinari's contract, which is 5.1 million cheaper than DeMar, and then if you trade Belli and Bertans, you have 18 million in room for Boggy. Spurs would then still have the MLE, and Rudy's bird rights still in tact. It was like two trades, one a three team trade and the other a four team trade. So, like I said, very hypothetical, but very fun.

Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
I’m not getting my hopes up for anything happening .. pretty much expect the spurs to do the following and call it a day
1)Re-sign Rudy Gay ( loyalty contract)
2) Extend / max out Derozan
3) add an underwhelming scrub with the MLE to fill out a need on the roster
