Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
Too bas the Spurs are one of those teams with no capspace or moveable pieces (that they would actually part with).

Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
mcgee would the perfect C to compliment la. athletic, long, cheap. even at 31 he'd be much better next to la than poeltl.
who was the last C the spurs even had that somewhat resembled mcgree? francisco elson? :lol
spurs vastly underestimate the value of easy buckets.

Well that’s wrong to say the least. The Magic made one of the biggest leaps this past year and will probably get a higher seed next year as well

The Spurs don't have great passers anyway. Can anyone on this team even throw a lob consistently?

Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
People around here forgetting that these teams using cap space have to renounce many of their own FA cap holds to get there, and it also takes away your MLE.
One person proposes teaming Beverly with Kawhi/Butler on Clippers. Is he taking the tiny room exception? Probably not.
Likewise, if Spurs absorbed Gallinari to facilitate the Clippers and sent out DDR, Bertans and Beli to create room, it’s Bogdanovic OR the MLE, not both.

i did forget their HC was steve clifford, i like that guy.
even if they get a higher seed their ceiling next year is 2nd round at best. they won't draw FAs but maybe they can make a trade. but even then, i don't see them being better than the 6ers, bucks, a potential nets team with kyrie & kd, a raps team with kawhi, a raps team without kawhi but with siakam and a motivated masai.
that's really what i mean about going nowhere. i always think big picture.

that's half of the issue... who needs to know how to throw a lob consistently if there isn't someone to consistently throw a lob to?

It is kind of sad when they try to throw it to LMA
If I recall Bertrans is not bad throwing a lob when he gets a head of stream going to the hoop

I posted on the Spurs subreddit we should sign McGee using a portion of the MLE and was downvoted to oblivion.
BTW, Clips would look to move Gallinari for LESS salary not more to ensure they have two max slots available. Unbelievable how even a year ago his contract was an albatross.
We'd be helping them get Kawhi + Butler (for example) but I'd do it for Mills and a pick.

Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
Actually, we would need to send out more salary so throw in Marco to get it done.
-
Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
Does Spurs have any chance to sign Derrick Favors if UTAH buyout his contract?
-
Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
Probably a tough get, but what about adding Brogdon and Bogdonavic?
White | Murray
Brogdon | Forbes | Weatherspoon?
Bogdonavic | Walker | Johnson
Gay | Samanic
Aldridge | Poetl | Eubanks?
Brogdon really seems to be a 'character' kind of person that Greg could value enough to pay a premium.
And it's possible to still have the RMLE (9.7MM over two years). Could be used on Milutinov, House Jr., Singleton, Layman, Kornet, Kleber, and get rid of Poetl the year after this coming season depending on his production.
-
Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
I don't get the love for Brogdon. We have White ffs.

I'd love to have Gaili, and it would take Beli and Mills for it work under the trade rules. And that only saves them 4 mil.

Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
True, they'd rather trade him to a team that can just take him into cap space and probably also want real assets.
-
Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
spurs have received trade calls for bertans but have declined each trade

Re: Spurs 2019 offseason thread
Nets continue to shop Joe Harris. He'll make $7.6 million this season and will be a free agent next season. Would like the Spurs to jump on this opportunity.

Would be a great fit

I know spurs usually operate quietly but there hasnt been any credible speculation on what the spurs might do :reading

I agree. He's is great three point shooter, but more than that. Great passer and can play decent defense. I think he's a smart player too.

What do you think the cost would be? We would need to move out similar money correct?
