Games you regretted purchasing
What games did you regret spending money on, and why?
-
Re: Games you regretted purchasing
Call of duty: ghost on ps3 and spiderman 3 on the ps2
both were cross-gen releases that mailed it in when creating the previous gen version

Re: Games you regretted purchasing

Ouch. I even regretted renting that one.

Re: Games you regretted purchasing
GTA Liberty City Stories. Back in 2006 I bought a PSP specifically for it and within about 15 minutes realized GTA on a small screen sucks. Ended up giving away my PSP to my brother a few months later. Funny thing is now that I really like JRPG I play PSP games on my Vita a lot more than when I had the actual PSP.

Oh fuck that game. I slogged through the entire motherfucker because I thought it would get good at one point based on how amazing GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas were. The only things I liked in that game were going to the comedy club for Ricky Gervais' show and when Roman got shot and killed at the end. And I bought that on launch day for full price. Fuck that game.

Just Cause 4. What a piece of shit game. Total letdown.

Re: Games you regretted purchasing
Watch Dogs.
Such was the shittiness of that game that I knew it sucked within 5 minutes.
Never played it more than once and when I went to trade it in they wouldn’t even give me 15 dollars for it.
I still have that piece of shit here somewhere.

Fight Night Round 4 was a huge letdown.

Re: Games you regretted purchasing
Hitman 2, Metro Exodus, and The Division 2 are some of my most recent regrets.

I liked the first five minutes. Wasn't until I was 15 minutes in that I started hating it.

Re: Games you regretted purchasing
Bought Warhammer 40000 on Steam sale, only ever played a few hours. I think it's the only game in my Steam library that I haven't really played.

What? Why?
Im not a big gamer but I’m a huge fight night fan and loved 4. What didn’t you like? Serious question.
I still check occasionally to see if a new one has been announced.

For starters I had to get it on ps3 for some reason at release when xbox was fine. All they had to do was take the engine from Round 3, which was perfect, and add to it. It felt like a different game and way too fast. The blocking mechanics were different from what I remember...didn't play it longer than an hour.

I thought is was the best of the bunch. Everything just felt right and balanced. Loved throwing the combos with the sticks. Just a great game.m, but that’s just my opinion.

You ever try Ready 2 Rumble boxing on the N64? That shit was addictive and fun to play for even non-gamers.

Fallout 3.
It's not that i think it's a bad game, i'm just not a fan of rpgs, even if Fallout 3 doesn't have the hardcore rpg elements of other games in the genre.
I just kept starting and dropping the game. It took me over a year to play it all the way through iirc.

Re: Games you regretted purchasing
Wow. Fallout 3 is one of my favorite games of all time. Have played through it at least 4 times. With all the DLC

Agreed, 100% with you. Tbh, the Fallout series as a whole (besides 76) has been pretty great...

Re: Games you regretted purchasing
Fallout 3 was pretty great, IMO, but yeah, you gotta like those type of games. The real shame is that they haven't updated the graphics engine since then... (rofl)

Re: Games you regretted purchasing
I had never played an rpg in my life before Fallout 3, was always more into military shooters and open world games like GTA and its numerous clones.
At the time i wanted to try an rpg, Fallout 3 looked like a simple transition since it had the 1st person shooting and open world gameplay i was familiar with and looked somewhat light on the rpg aspects.
Long story short, the game felt like a drag when i wasn't blowing shit up. Endless lines of dialogue coming from npc's that i had to answer to and constantly micromanaging attributes, skills and loot bored me to death.
... and that was the last time i played an rpg :lol

Bigger shame that (1) they didn't let Obsidian make a better game on top of FO4 like they did with New Vegas on top of FO3 and (2) no fucking Elder Scrolls games this gen. Bethesda went from being better than Rockstar last gen to being what, Hello Games this gen?

I just remembered that i've played Mass Effect 2 as well and that was an amazing rpg imo :tu
Sitting through the dialogue didn't feel like such a chore because i actually enjoyed the subject matter on that one and there was also minimal loot to be collected. The combat was awesome too.

BioWare RPGs don't really seem like the right games if sitting through dialogue is a chore, heh. Their dialogue writing is much better though than what you see in say Bethesda RPGs.
