I think it's foolish to expect one guy to check all of those players. Maybe Pippen could. Maybe Leonard can. Maybe Hunter will be able to. But especially in the modern NBA, it doesn't make sense to have a designated "stopper" anyway. Just have good defensive players at all levels and a unit that understands the game plan and how to cover for each other. Johnson can do that and be just as big of a part of it as Murray, White or Poeltl. You don't put him on an island with James and Giannis and expect him to come out ahead, but you also don't avoid playing him at SF because he can't guard someone as big as Karl Malone or David Robinson. You put your power-forward on them and know that Johnson should be fine against the Middletons or Kuzmas of the world.

And what are PJ Tucker's measurements BTW?
Thanks in advance.
6'6" but thick like a PF. Still, he was the worst defender of the bunch.

That's one.
Now do the rest of the players you listed.
Nop, I'm off to bed. i have to work tomorrow. Stay scratching that pathological arguative itch with someone else, tbh. Good night.

Nope. You said problem solved.
And we didn't even have to get the best player in the league.:tu

It's fine-ish, tbh. Too old to be a real full time stopper. That's why I said I was fine with the hiring but I hoped PATFO could find a younger 3 and D guy. If you weren't so jumpy about coming to PATFO's defense at every little opportunity, you should have seen that, tbh.
Anyway, bye for real now. I don't want to regret staying up on ST tomorrow. :lol

Re: DeMarre Carroll to the Spurs
I fucking love this signing, instantly the best wing defender on the team. If Murray has improved his range as much everyone says, then let this man space the floor in the Bowen corner. It goes without saying that this will open room for LMA and Derozan to operate in the mid range.

Re: DeMarre Carroll to the Spurs
I like this move. He shot .37 and .34% from 3 in last two seasons with the Nets. I guess he will get ton of better open looks on Spurs offense.
Plus, it will be nice to have a guy that can hit a 3-point shot in Spurs' starting lineup since Murray/Derozan/LMA don't do it very often.

Holy fuck.

He's into fashion from what I read. He's worn some pretty funky outfits in the past, this might be one of the worst, though.

He's an incremental improvement. The Spurs weren't going to get a guy who guards the opponents' best player every night for the MLE.
I'd like to see him get his 3P% back up to at least his career average of .360. But even at the .342 he shot last year, I'd give him 100% of Belli's minutes without hesitation - he's a MUCH better defender than Belli, and he gets to the line twice as much as Belli. His net contribution will be much more than Belli's.
Incremental improvement.
