Big tech is a threat to our country.
https://youtu.be/rNvgl38TLvI
Liberal professor estimates that Google sent between 2.6 million and 10.4 million votes to Hillary Clinton in 2016.
But... but... big money donations. Nothing compares to the influence of these tech companies. Also Google's YouTube is now directing traffic from independent news channels to mainstream news outlets on Google.

Re: Big tech is a threat to our country.
In 2012, Epstein publicly disputed with Google Search over a security warning placed on links to his website.[10] His website, which features mental health screening tests, was blocked for serving malware that could infect visitors to the site. Epstein emailed "Larry Page, Google's chief executive; David Drummond, Google's legal counsel; Epstein's congressman; and journalists from The New York Times, The Washington Post, Wired, and Newsweek."[10] In it, Epstein threatened legal action if the warning concerning his website was not removed, and denied that any problems with his website existed.[10] Several weeks later, Epstein admitted his website had been hacked, but still criticized Google for tarnishing his name and not helping him find the infection.
...
The Los Angeles Times reported in March 2019 that Epstein's criticism of Google had been "warmly embraced" by conservative sources, a phenomenon that Epstein said "is driving me crazy".[24]

goddamn, this asshole is fucking 100% bad faith, but it's a great conservative career move
BS is BS, eg some counter-mendacity:
Mitch McConnell's big donors are Wall Street firms — and only 9% of his funds comes from Kentucky
Vast majority of McConnell's campaign funds come from big-dollar, out-of-state donors, many in the financial sector

Essentially ALL of the political class is corrupted the oligarchy's BigMoney,
which is why the political class ignores the preferences of voters and enables/enriches/protects the oligarchy,
resulting directly the USA's World Champion Inequality.
BigBanks just posted QUARTERLY profits of $22B, much of it due to them buying the Trump/oligarchy tax cut scam

Re: Big tech is a threat to our country.
The biggest threat to the country is NOW, the oligarchy and its blocking all climate legislation, while benefiting from Repugs cutting pollution and oil/gas extraction regulations
That threat is unstoppable, irreversilble
If Trash and Repugs win in 2020, combined with Trash queering the census for insane gerrymandering, then a new US Constitution, paid for by the oligarchy, is probable

Gov't just wants to get their hands on it, get a generous portion of that windfall so they can spend it on shit they want. They just can't figure out how to get their mitts on it. They'll get there though...it's too juicy to pass on.
Like England: they'll keep voting on that Brexit materiel till they get it adjusted properly...once accomplished they'll be no more votes on itPERIOD tee, hee.

They don't ignore the preferences of voters. They try wall them in with wedge issues so that people vote on those instead of on the issues that actually matter, that the congress and their donors actually care about. It would be more accurate to say they engineer the preferences of the voters, what Chomsky called manufacturing consent.

sure they do. Dems voted in Obama for "public option", got ACA, because BigPharma/BigInsurance PREFERRED against public option, as they do now against Medicare-for-all.
a majority of Repug voters support DACA, a path to citizenship, same-sex marriage, and are OK with abortion, etc. they get nothing
Repugs scream for immigration reform for 15+ years, they get nothing.
yes, mfr'd consent is real, with BigCorp media helping,
but see the Princeton oligarchy report that claimed voters got about 1% of their preferences, why the oligarchy(BigDonor) got 99%. Even if it's 5/95, the point is valid.

I'm talking about what caused the ban.
On it's face it makes no sense. Were it being propagated by bots, I can definitely see the reasoning for the bans.
What do you think is the motive for banning accounts that post that meme?

Most conservatives are freedom of speech warriors who only believe in freedom of speech on stuff they agree with. They are hacks.
You don't hear the Ben Shapiro's and Steven Crowders defending freedom of speech when Congress tries to pass anti-BDS legislation which is unconstitutional. All them conservatives are silent, crickets, when it comes to anti-BDS bills because they love Israel.

Re: Big tech is a threat to our country.
Hours after 'denouncing' racism, Trump amplifies views of two other white supremacists
former Google engineer Kevin Cernekee (white supremacist No. 2),
who is making the rounds of fringe media such as Fox News to claim that he has been discriminated against because he's a conservative Trump supporter.
Cernekee told Dobbs that Google executives "want to use all the power and all the resources that they have to control the flow of information to the public and make sure that Trump loses in 2020."
That really stuck with Trump; he went to bed thinking about it and then resumed tweeting about it through the morning.
Cernekee was fired because
he kept sharing white supremacist kinds of things on Google's employee message boards.
Such as how he wanted his co-workers to join him in raising funds
for the "bounty" on the guy who sucker-punched fellow white supremacist Richard Spencer on Trump's inauguration day.
In other internal message board conversations,
Cernekee defended two neo-Nazi groups, the Traditionalist Workers Party and the Golden State Skinheads.
He said the latter group "stood up for free speech and free association" and
suggested that they merely have a branding problem because they call themselves "skinheads."
said in these work discussion boards that they should rebrand as the "Helpful Neighborhood Bald Guys"
they should also "form alliances with other supporters of liberty and civil rights."
The GSS has branding problems beyond its name: It uses Nazi iconography as its identifying symbols.
that's who Trump chose to promote on his Twitter feed Monday night.
It didn't take him any time to get over the deaths of more than 20 people in Texas at the hands of a killer who told the world he was motivated by racist hate and
get right back to his favorite hobby: fomenting that racist hate.

I personally don't think conservatives have never wanted a free press, or even a balanced one. They want all media to be Fox News-style propaganda.
Because when you show them truly neutral coverage, or something that shows any different views, they call it liberal bias.

as well chump is a fucking retard. facebook's policy is to censor the whistleblower's name if it has not been reported on but it has and has been for weeks now in a few different outlets. facebook is specifically making up new rules after the fact and in doing so they're dictating the direction of people looking for news; the direction would take a hard LEFT!

Re: Big tech is a threat to our country.
WSJ investigation finds bias for big businesses, against subscription model competitors and, yeah, blacklists:
Quote:
Despite maintaining in Congressional testimony that it doesn’t use blacklists, the WSJ account found that Google does. Google tries to wiggle around this apparent contradiction by relying on a narrow interpretation of what constitutes a “political” blacklist:
Google’s first blacklists date to the early 2000s, when the company made a list of spam sites that it removed from its index, one of those people said. This means the sites wouldn’t appear in search results.
Engineers known as “maintainers” are authorized to make and approve changes to blacklists. It takes at least two people to do this; one person makes the change, while a second approves it, according to the person familiar with the matter.
The Journal reviewed a draft policy document from August 2018 that outlines how Google employees should implement an anti-misinformation blacklist aimed at blocking certain publishers from appearing in Google News and other search products. The document says engineers should focus on “a publisher misrepresenting their ownership or web properties” and having “deceptive content”—that is, sites that actively aim to mislead—as opposed to those that have inaccurate content.
“The purpose of the blacklist will be to bar the sites from surfacing in any Search feature or news product sites,” the document states.

Recently, Facebook has done some things that are truly horrible and I can no longer excuse its behavior. . . . Facebook is enabling people to do harm. It has the power to stop the harm. What it currently lacks is an incentive to do so.
dispatched a Facebook executive, Dan Rose, to talk to him.
Rose told McNamee that Facebook was a platform, not a publisher, and couldn’t control all user behavior.
But Rose’s dismissiveness rattled him.
“They were my friends. I wanted to give them a chance to do the right thing. I wasn’t expecting them to go, ‘Oh, my God, stop everything,’ but
I was expecting them to take it seriously,” he said.
“It was obvious they thought it was a P.R. problem, not a business problem, and they thought the P.R. problem was me.”
McNamee hasn’t spoken to Sandberg or Zuckerberg since. (Both declined to comment for this article.)
He now refers to Zuckerberg as an “authoritarian.”

Zuckerberg's wealth gives him enormous power (his control of shares means shareholders and the board can't touch him) but he remains a prick way in over his head. Just listen to his bullshit spewed to Congress.
As long as the ad money $Bs keeps rolling in, FB won't change.

Thank me now, thank me later but those same people you like to defend want open borders and want to replace your white race. Diversity is their strength.
So any criticism of Jews, Zionism or Israel is antisemitic? You mean the Zionist elites should get away with anything while we keep our mouths shut? Is that what you want? Please tell me why.

Facebook Has Already Decided How You’re Going To Vote
Facebook is wielding significant power over political discourse in the United States,
thanks to an ad delivery system that reinforces political polarization among users,
Facebook delivers political ads to its users based on the content of those ads and the information the media company has on its users—
and not necessarily based on the audience intended by the advertiser.
“We found that Facebook will disproportionately deliver an ad
to the users who [Facebook] believes agree with the ad, based only on the content,”
its ad delivery system is creating information filter bubbles for its users,
citizens are being served ads that reinforce their existing political beliefs, and
being excluded from seeing ads that challenge those beliefs.
“I don’t think most people understand the level of optimization that’s taking place in online advertising,” he says.
“When Facebook is optimizing ads for relevance,
they’re also optimizing for Facebook’s profit margin.”
in an attempt to optimize the success of the ad,
Facebook’s algorithm is delivering it to people it believes are predisposed to like it.
Such optimization isn’t unique to political ads, Mislove says; it’s likely the same system Facebook uses to determine the relevance of every advertisement on its site.
it is a problem for an ad that’s intended to change the mind of a voter who’s not already on board with the message.
the results illustrate
a broader problem in society today—
the sheer amount of influence that unseen and unregulated algorithms have on everything we do.
there’s very little accountability,
and very little transparency,
about how these algorithms determine what that optimization looks like.

‘Our jaws hit the floor’:
Why a shocking new report on cellphone tracking is absolutely terrifying
an investigation into smartphone tracking based on a data set with over
50 billion location pings from the devices of more than 12 million people in the United States.
The data, from 2016 and 2017, “was provided to Times Opinion by sources who asked to remain anonymous because they were not authorized to share it and could face severe penalties for doing so,” explained reporters Stuart A. Thompson and Charlie Warzel.
“The sources of the information said they had grown alarmed about how it might be abused and urgently wanted to inform the public and lawmakers.”
