It's too early to go too far left if he doesn't have to. He's not going to out-bernie bernie. He has to sell that he's the only one with the credentials to be the captain of the ship and that he is the one who knows how the real world works. He doesn't have to jump to number one; he just has to have solid showings for the time being.
Warren is so many tiers above the rest it’s not even funny.
This was the first debate I watched with any level of attention and I was surprised at how unlikeable Bernie is. His policies would tank the economy to the extent implemented, he’d be more polarizing than Trump, and he just doesn’t inspire any confidence in being a level headed and stable leader. The constant shouting and hand waving makes him seem more senile than anything.
Mayor Pete probably has sold his soul to the devil, but is a centrist and likely more electable than the field outside of EW.
The rest of the field is hot garbage.
Buttplug had the most underrated Bloomberg dig of the night when he basically said “Yeah Mike should be throwing all this money into the election if he wants to beat Trump I just don’t understand why he needs to be the candidate.”
Bloomberg's best hand is as a moderate. We agree. But democratic voters don't think like you do. They aren't going to want to start off moderate and get more extreme later. They're going to pick the candidate who has the most ideas they like then trust the machine to stop the more outlandish ideas. Bernie winning doesn't mean we get universal healthcare or free tuition, but it does mean that Congress has a mandate to actually address those concerns. Most voters aren't going to want a candidate who doesn't intend to change anything except the name on the Oval Office.
The only voters Bloomberg is going to hold onto are folks who think the Dems need a moderate to win, though watching how bad Mike was should make people realize he's the most unelectable candidate in the race.
