yeah, its pretty ridiculous that just when it looks like we might be hitting a plateau, they're talking about undoing all the mitigation we did. unless we are confident that we've reached a certain degree of herd immunity, its pretty reckless. that said, i have less issue with them doing it on a locality by locality basis. but full-on statewide actions are probably reckless

we dont even know how long a city stays in "plateau"
500 deaths a day for a city for 6 months is very scary.

"(CNN)The director of the agency responsible for leading the charge on the production and purchase of vaccines in the Trump administration is no longer leading the agency as of Tuesday, CNN has confirmed.
Dr. Rick Bright had led the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority, which has been central to the response to the coronavirus outbreak, since 2016. An acting director has taken over in his position, though the reason behind Bright's sudden departure is still unclear...."

LA County estimates four to five percent infection rate of SARSCov2 from randomized antibody tests so lol at anything approaching herd immunity. We're opening because Trump values capital and capital alone, not lives.

Holy shit.
Republican governors across the Southeast are teaming up to reopen the region’s economy, even as they lack the testing to know how rapidly the coronavirus is spreading.
One health expert called the political decision a “perfect storm” for the virus to reassert itself.
The newly formed coalition includes Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi, a part of the country that has underfunded health systems, as well as high rates of obesity, diabetes and other illnesses that amplify the deadliness of the coronavirus.
