I remember when Obama picked Rahm Emanuel as his Chief of Staff, that was the first “Here comes a massive letdown” moment I had with him.

I felt the same way with Trump picking Rex Tillerson as Secretary of State, tbh.

Rahm is a fucking millionaire investment banker, aka, oligarchy.
Investment bankers don't support any govt action For The People, like MfA or environmental laws. They only support rigging govt and the economy for their own wealth protection and enrichment. Mission Accomplished.
Obama ran on public option. Rahm was key in blocking it.
Now he says no MfA, no environmental progress, no solutions. What he says no to now are all supported by a majority of The People.
If not now, when?

Oh then let’s also play this game where we show trump is taking baby steps to authoritarianism with erosion of elections

Re: Democratic National Convention Thread
i guess they just needed to get even more republican speakers to win people over.
also what happened to all those 2016 conservatives who said they hated trump, but said they still have to vote for him because dems but such a bad candidate up, but that they probably would have voted for biden? :lol

I know these polls are anonymous but it would still be nice to see what % of people who "identified as Republican" 4 years ago now identify as Independent.

Is this the same poll that says Biden has a 50 point advantage over Trump with younger voters? I read that a few days ago and didn’t quite believe it.
I’ll see if I can find it.

To be fair some voter registrations have changed, and that poll seems flawed if it says Trump is winning independents by 10%. Every other poll I’ve seen his Biden winning independents.
Still though, Trump is winning 85% of Republican voters in a best case scenario for Biden, and it’s likely closer to 90%. It’s a nonsensical campaign strategy of bending over backwards to win 10% of the other party’s vote instead of just 5% rather than trying to energize the base.

I think we’ve always had a lot of h:lolnest br:lolkers who know Republicans are greedy assholes so they identify as independents even though they’re Republicans for all intents and purposes, even before Trump. North Carolina for example has over 400k more registered Dems than it does registered Republicans, and it’s somehow a right leaning state.

Yeah I saw that as well with the independents.
Would help to see the methodology on this one.

Definitely became the thing to say around 2006, when Republicans soured on GWB.
