I find that's the case with a lot of Boston-based movies though - always tons of references to neighborhoods and sports teams (Redsox specifically). They act like they're NYC in that you probably know all of the boroughs and the general layout of the city even if you've never been.

Any love for his performance in J Edgar?
I know the movie was long and slow, but Leo and Armie Hammer were spot on as Hoover and Tolson.

I’ve been intending to log on to mention J. Edgar but I kept putting it off. I love bios, this is a good one, Leo nailed it. Im not a big action fan so my faves will not be mentioned much here lol. I’ve probably found his earliest roles most impresive, Gilbert Grape and This Boy’s Life. I can’t think of any other kid actor with 2 such great performances. I also love Reservation Road. Its a very depressing movie but Leo is really heart wrenching as a guy who is barely surviving lots of crap situations. And Leo is my favorite Jay Gatsby. In fact I think that whole cast is perfect. But I can barely tolerate that movie because of my Baz Luhrmann aversion

Man, Lurmann could have made a Gatsby for the ages if he hadn't Lurmanned the whole thing. I think someone could recut that movie into a classic.
I though he was miscast as Hoover but I really can't think of who else could play him instead short of going a more unknown route like with Richard Jewell.
To me Leo started out at a really high level of acting in features so early and maintained that high baseline ever since. Every once in awhile he goes to a higher level of truly great performance, but he never hurts a film even if he's miscast occasionally. That time he played Rimbaud before Romeo + Juliet convinced me he was going to be a serious actor for a long time.

Chumpettes in thread like these. Except there's no actual hot girl to impress. And of course they're nowhere near that good at boasting either.

My sig is Barbara Stanwyck (1903-1990). She was a great actress but wasn’t considered a beauty. I think she’s gorgeous too :)
