A rock and a hard place
I'm begrudgingly accepting that my worst fears are playing out. I'd hoped some team would knock out both or at least one of the LA clubs, and thought it was at least a remote possibility. But given how poorly Denver and Houston (specifically, Westbrick came out to play and House is about to get suspended) have played in crunch time, I will no longer fight reality.
It's gonna be an all LA WCF. FURK!!!!!! And unless Miami plays out of their mind, the L'Eastern Conference champ is not going to win the finals.
Thus, in my Faustian bargain, I will eagerly take the Lakers, because FUCK NEPH. Always and forever.

Re: A rock and a hard place
It was always likely to be that way. The only possibility otherwise (outside of injuries) was the Rockets beating the Lakers, which is still doable, though less likely with House out at least through tonight.
I have no problem going for the Lakers. These insecure divas have destroyed this league anyway, so it's no longer about the franchise, but rather which superstars/stars I can stand and whether the team is flawed enough to where it would be an accomplishment to win it.
-
Re: A rock and a hard place
Fuck the Lakers, always and forever. As much as I hate Nephew, that Clippers fanbase deserves some time in the sun.
-
Re: A rock and a hard place
It's probably better to expect it to happen now, than to be pissed off later. Kawhi will probably ring and it's gonna be fucking annoying. No justice in this world.

Lakers so confident right now, giving Horton-Tucker his first minutes in the playoffs right now.

Re: A rock and a hard place
Fuck Kawhi and fuck LeBron too. Davis also quit on his old team after not doing shit for that franchise either. This mindset of players having to control who plays with them and leaving franchises left and right has killed this league. One of these fucks is gonna ring again though so it’s pointless to bitch. :lol

What is a Horton-Tucker? Is that a Canadian euphemism or something?
Oh, it's a basketball player no outside of his family has ever heard of.
In other news, I have a hard time seeing Doc Rivers lose to Horton-Tucker and Frank Vogel. It still hurts......

I started watching basketball in '92 so I can say the results of who wins it all have been mixed for me. I never hated the bulls championship teams. I was cool with the Rockets winning in '94 but was salty in '95 for obvious reason when they repeated. Hated seeing the Lakers win in the '00s. Hated the Warriors back to back teams in '17 and '18 but I did not hate the '15 team. I did not hate the Heat in '12 but was salty in '13 for obvious reasons.
'04 Pistons,'06 Heat,'08 Celtics,'11 Mavs,'16 Cavs were all great championship runs.

I’m totally fine with the Lakers destroying the Rockets.
Lakers-Clippers will be a lot more fun than any series featuring the Rockets.

Re: A rock and a hard place
I don't have split loyalty. I want Green to finish his career with more rings than Kawhi. I definitely want LAL to come out of the West right now, but insofar as I can root for anyone, I would prefer the Heat to win. They just deserve it with their style of play, and it's cool to see Bam grow into a star in front of our eyes.

Heat or Celtics winning it all would be fine with me.

It doesn’t matter.
I was upset the year he screwed the Spurs with his leg “issues” and basically wasted fans time with his shenanigans and I hated that he wasn’t honest. I was upset with the Spurs at the horrible trade they got for him and that they got played.
but by now he would have been gone anyways. it’s time to move on...

People will be able to move on when he finally loses in the playoffs. That could happen this year or it might be a few years from now depending the way things are going. #2 is also not letting it go which is obvious by him doing load management whenever he has to play the spurs. For example if the Spurs are on a back to back he will make sure to take the first game off to rest up for the Spurs or he may take a few games off to prepare for the Spurs.

Agreed. I'm not rooting for either the Lakers or Clippers but the consolation prize is going to see either Lebron or #2 lose. We definitely would not have gotten that like you said if #2 formed a big 3 with the Lakers.

Re: A rock and a hard place
Also, I hope not but he’s probably gonna shit all over the Lakers and their fans which could end up being pretty funny though. I think it was ice cube that said something like “I guess he wants to be a loser if he wants to go to the clippers instead of the Lakers.”
so, that could be kinda interesting.
Really wish that “loser” was still a spur....but fuck that faggot, I hope his knees explode.

Honestly, I hope so. Either them or the Raptors would be the preferred outcome, I also wouldn't mind Miami. Tbh, any scenario where #2 and LBJ lose is a win to me. As for posters saying it's a wash that an LA team is gonna ring, you never know how things are gonna play out, especially in these playoffs. I also think Miami is a good matchup for the Lakers, maybe not so much the Clips, and the Celtics can beat any team if they get hot. Will make for some exciting series at the very least.
-
Re: A rock and a hard place
Pipe Dream: The scrubby ass Heat knock off the Lakers in the biggest upset in NBA history.
Realistic Fantasy: The Raptors upset the Clippers
Most Likely to happen: Clippers decimate whoever comes out of the East. It will suck because Paul George will be the biggest loser behind Vince Carter to get a ring and Doc will be the only coach disrespected for having two rings because he lucked his ass into them.
-
Re: A rock and a hard place
:lol Celtics let this raptors team with 35 y/o Kyle Lowry as their number 1 option push them to 7 games. I’d be surprised if they push the Heat past 6.
I’m rooting for Jimmy and the Heat to have a story book run to a ship.
Realistically, the Lakers are going to win for Kobe.

Re: A rock and a hard place
There are layers to why Spurs fans need to root against the Clippers. Of course there's Kawhi and Morris but another major issue is that a second fashionable, prestigious team in Los Angeles would really hurt the chances of small markets holding onto superstars. As it is, the Clippers don't yet have that Lakers cachet ... but that could change with a championship.

Even if they don't win a title the clippers are now going to be a hot destination simply due to location and their ownership group. #2 already changed the perception by deciding to play for them. A number of other players will follow pursuit in the future.

Possible true but if the Clippers don't win it all, it could be viewed as another case of the Clippers always being the second rate Clippers no matter who's in the uniform. It could be the difference between the Clippers being the cooler version of the Lakers and "Clippers Gonna Clip" memes.

I could be wrong but location and the chance to win is the biggest thing with these players. For example Durant picking the Nets over the Knicks had all to do with which team had the better roster but he was going to NYC regardless. This will be the same deal with the Lakers and Clippers when it comes to stealing superstars. Their location already attracts these guys but the tie breaker like I said will come down to roster construction.
The way the landscape is today I would say there is 3 locations that will always be able to steal superstars which is Miami,LA,NYC and possibly the Bay Area with the Warriors. In the past you just had to worry about the Lakers,Heat being in position to steal stars. Now I feel you have to worry about Clippers,Nets,Heat,Lakers,Warriors. That's 5 teams that can suck up all the talent from the rest of the league. If the Knicks ever get it together then it will be 6 teams you have to worry about.

Lakers will always be #1 simply for the fact that Kirbs played for them, and now Lebron. Nephew may be the best player in the NBA and is doing things that haven't been seen before, but he'll never have the cult following those two have.

The Clippers led the Nuggets by as many as 16 points before losing 111-105. It marks the 4th-largest blown lead with a chance to clinch a Conference Finals appearance since 1997. The Clippers now have 2 of the top 4 largest instances in that span.

The NBA set the rules, and he knew what they were. Someone would have found out, and it would have been published, even if the NBA didn’t reveal it. Put it this way: you think any other married guys will be smuggling in some strange? That’s what the NBA accomplished. They tightened the bubble when it’s needed most.

Re: A rock and a hard place
Best scenario is that Clippers eliminate the Lakers but then Nephew cannot participate in the NBA Finals and he doesn’t ring.

Re: A rock and a hard place
Kawhi has been scrubbing it up against the Nuggets. This shit is embarrassing, looks like it's going 7. Another choke job, up 16 at the half. SMH

Re: A rock and a hard place
Guess I'd pull for Lakers. Would be happier to see DG win another one than KL. But mostly I just can't stand Marcus Morris getting a ring this year.
Then again, if Markieff wins one they'll end up sharing it anyway...
Let's go Denver/Miami.

Kawhi's slow and steady style of efficiency not going to bring his team back from any late deficits.

Re: A rock and a hard place
Another reason to like Jokic is that he has said in interviews that he had modeled his post game after Duncan's post game. He also said earlier this year that he wanted to be the Tim Duncan of Denver.

Re: A rock and a hard place
Loving it. Still probably have too much Green love to not want him to win a third title, but Denver and Miami would be a really nice Finals.
