2020-21 NBA Season Thread
It will start sometime and there are coaching musical chairs and a draft coming up etc.
Will Lakers win the title or will it be a promising but unproven up and comer like the Mavs or Celtics?

Why do you hope somebody stops the Lakers if the title is a sham like you claim? :lol
-
Re: 2020-21 NBA Season Thread
Fair point but adding a lessor * season title as is likely to the sham title will only enforce Lakers as BSPN/NBA golden child even more.
Plus with DaQuit, LeRoid/pseudoGoat and HOward and the soft continually hyped Kuzma it is fun to root against all things Lakers.
By the way what ever happened to Bynum who sadly had some injuries and never even touched 1/10 of his potential?

Silver wants nothing to do with Lebron and the Lakers after this years shit show

I have no idea where Bynum is playing these days or if he's playing at all. The only reason i picked this username was because when i registered back in 2012, Bynum was a coming off his 30 rebound game against Jim and i was trolling. I wasn't particularly a fan of Bynum, i just never bothered to change my username to something else.

Believe he is out of the game after injuries and did try to briefly come back a few years ago but could not stay healthy then the game went away from classic bigs. Had a lot of talent on both sides of ball that might have come together with time.

Re: 2020-21 NBA Season Thread
Spurs only goal is low tier playoff team and math in West, mismatched and lessened talent, and a coach who has seen better days, makes that very improbable.

It was reported that Sacramento offered Bjelica and a draft pick for Kuzma. If the Lakers are smart, they revisit that offer. Bjelica is a much better 3pt shooter and outperforms Kuzma in rebounding, assists, blocks, and steals, with fewer turnovers. He fits as a role player next to LeBron & AD much better than Kuzma.

I read a few articles about Bynum both during and after his career. He didn’t have the same love of the game as most guys in the league. Like, he was kind of an IT nerd and loved repairing computers and sh!t like that. I think once he started getting injured, he didn’t have the desire to battle back and just took the cash and retired

Truth but for rest of league glad did not happen. Kuzma is so inconsistent and soft albeit has some talent when he shows up on rare occasions.

absurdly talented, all four had superstar level talent, but something held them back from fully reaching that
artest - mental issues
odom - emotional issues
bynum - lazy
pau - lack of drive
but in terms of sheer talent, that was arguably the most talented frontline ever assembled

true. but if he had that same drive in 2008, they probably beat boston. instead he was too busy shriveling at KG's fake tough guy antics
honestly one could make a solid argument he was more talented than timmy, karl or dirk, but lacked that leadership and consistent intensity to hit that level. he was perfect as a #2 though, probably one of the best #2 options in league history.

Boston beat L.A in 2008 because they had a better bench
In fact the 2008 Celtics have one of the best benches ever tbh

yeah those celtics squads were fantastic. but I feel the lakers had some truly great squads in that timeframe as well. pau being ridiculously soft in the 2008 finals definitely hurt them badly though.
but i wont disagree that the depth was probably the biggest difference between the 08 and the 10 finals

Celtic lost in ‘10 b/c KG wasn’t the same force after his knee injury. He couldn’t even box out to secure Kirby’s bricks in Gm 7 & that is where they missed Perkins.

Typical Muslim dad shyt. Kids with multiple women thus not around & said stuff like “y’all were accidents”/“your mother isn’t worthy” to his kids while presenting a clean image to the public ala Cosby: https://forums.realgm.com/boards/vie...?f=6&t=1250636

They aren’t devout Christians like Russell Wilson who’s Kareem’s equivalent. They are the equivalent of Shaq as a Muslim, you also have clowns like Dwert who will stick their dick in any hole like every other pastor.

Kareem wasn't a good father to that kid. I remember that kid whose name is Adam Jabbar had a reddit about seven years ago and talked about his relationship with his father growing up. Basically he said Kareem was a deadbeat and straight up told him that his mom was trash and that he was an accident.

What happened was Kareem's son Adam Jabbar was living at an elderly woman's house for free as a caregiver. Allegedly this elderly woman helped raise Adam for good portion of his life so the neighbors knew who Adam was. The problem started when one of the neighbors by the name of Winsor told Adam he wasn't doing his job to take care of this elderly woman. Here is a quote about the situation:
“I sort of got on him because the lady who takes care of him is an 83-year-old,” Winsor told the TV station. “(And) he doesn’t do anything for her and it just bums me out. She’s in a walker taking her trash cans down.” “I turned and he was on me. I thought he was punching me but he actually had a knife,” Winsor said to the New York Post. “After the fourth punch, I felt a very sharp pain and noticed blood coming out of me and then I had one to the top of my head and I was trying to get back to my house and he was in front of me.”
https://247sports.com/Article/Kareem...cks-150701561/
There is another article out there in which Winsor's daughter says she was friends with Adam growing up. What I find telling is Windsor's daugther straight up says Kareem was a terrible father and that he was never around for Adam growing up. I don't think she would by lying considering Adam stabbed her on father. I can't find the article right now but it's out there.

My post draft, way too early West power rankings:
1 Lakers
2 Nuggets
3 Mavs
4 tlongs
5 Clippers
6 Suns
7 Jazz
8 Spurs
Play in tourney:
Rockets
Dubs
Memphis
All subject to change, post free agency. It's gonna be a dog fight just to make it to the Bubble this season.

Sham bubble champions overhyped per usual but that is to be expected and GS will easily make playoffs just in time for Thompson to come back and crush Fakers if Mavs don’t first.

Re: 2020-21 NBA Season Thread
Harry Giles signed a one year Minimum deal with Portland. I know that in the grand scheme of NBA news this is barely a blip, but Giles is one of the few guys with bad advanced stats that I think still has big potential. He was the number one ranked high school player 4 years ago, but then had a series of knee injures that led to sitting out big chunks of time, and limited him to playing just 11 minutes a game in his only year at Duke. He later said he should've red-shirted that year but was too eager to play despite his knee not being 100%. Only 22 years old, he's an incredible passer-- Jokic-like at times-- and his per 36 stats last year were 17.1/10.1/3.2 plus 1.2 steals & 1 block. If the timing of experience + health happen to match up just right, he could be a steal.

Hype got Kobe in the all star game even though he wasn't a starter on his own team. Hype fills seats, sure. But like the 1998 Lakers, the 2020 Pelicans not winning jack until Zion takes off his Huggies pull ups. :lol

Pelicans will continue to get games on TV until the Zion hype dies down. I remember when they drafted him ESPN/TNT gave the Pelicans 30 national TV games. They immediately got rid of those game once he got hurt but when he recovered they put all those games back on. No one cares about Brandon he's not the reason why people want to watch the Pelican games.
Zion looked good when he first played this season but in the bubble he was trash. So it's hard to say how he's going to turn out. If he stays healthy which is a big if then I think he will be an all-star to a superstar type of player.

I realize this is the usual attempt to troll, but I've seen this sentiment countless times from Lakers fans all over the internet.
The revisionist history is bizarre. The Spurs wanted Ingram, they just wanted a lot more. Essentially, they wanted the Davis package, but Johnson's arrogance and constant tampering with uncle Sleazebag led him to believe they could sign Scumbag outright next off season anyway, so they tried to screw the Spurs.
I don't get the bitterness from Lakers fans either because everything worked out for them. They're better off without Scumbag because otherwise they'd receive more backlash than credit for winning championship(s) a la Durant on the Warriors.

Bitter? Look at the Spurs roster. Then look at the Lakers roster. I'm not bitter :lol

Your brethren are. As if the Lakers didn't also offer the Spurs crap.
:lmao At talking tough when your archaic, incompetent organization is only relevant again because the best player/executive decided to come to them for non basketball reasons and save their sorry asses.

Brandon Ingram (legit all star) proved to be better than all the non-all star Spur players. Yet you - YOU said the Lakers offered crap.
Spurs were gonna get a BETTER deal than what the Pels got for AD. But, in retrospect I'm glad it didn't happen. And I'm glad LMA laughed at us and chose the Spurs. :lol

He's not a legit All-Star (at least yet), he's a guy who made an All-Star team and some still feel he's empty calories.
Either way, at the time he was an underachieving young player, not nearly enough, along with flotsam and jetsam, to bag a superstar.
If the Spurs were going to get a better deal than the Davis one, they'd have done that deal. They knew Scumbag was L.A. bound in a season either way.
