The bounce had the ball bouncing off the border at the top front of the backboard. A couple inches higher, and the ball would have cleared the top of the board and out of bounds.
A crazy trajectory, too. From the side of the court, hit the back rim, deflected 90* from its shot path towards the front rim, bounced straight up, hit top of back boad, and down and in.
The Spurs had lost six games out of their previous 42. They probably would have won that series in 5 if Elliott's shot hadn't gone in. It's still a great shot, and one of my favorite moments, but the Spurs have had exciting moments in seasons where they didn't win the title, which aren't as easily remembered.Quote:
