NEW YORK, April 26, 2006 – Manu Ginobili of the San Antonio Spurs has been suspended one game without pay for making forearm contact to the head of Robert Horry of the San Antonio Spurs, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Senior Vice President Basketball Operations.
The incident occurred with 0:04 remaining in the fourth period of the Spurs’ 128-119 win over the visiting Kings at AT&T Center on April 25. Manu will miss Game 3 of the series, which will be played at the Arco Arena on Friday, April 28.
Stu Jackson commented on the suspension saying, "[Manu]'s always flailing his arms everywhere and it has to stop. I wouldn't have suspended him if it wasn't Manu." Stu Jackson also reported he recieved a call from Sonics Forward Ray Allen complaining about Manu's eratic arms immediatly after the play.
Ron Artest, after hearing the news, told reporters, "Good, it's about time the league sends a message that if you mess with Ron Artest, you mess with the entire NBA organization."
Robert Horry refused to comment on the situation.
