Pissed in Sacramento
Well, here is my story:
Eager with anticipation, I track the SPurs' charter plane on flight Aware.com and counted down the minutes to their arrival. I timed it so I can get off work, walk across the street to the Hyatt.
Incredibly, I arrived just in time for the Spurs bus to pull into the hotel (around 5:15 PST). I was eager to meet the great ones from Duncan to Oberto when things went sour. There were a bunch of anti-Schwarzengger protesters out in force at the hotel at the same time so security was beefed up. I went toward the bus when a security man told me I was tresspassing. I said to him that I am not with these protesters and wish to get some autographs and say to our mighty Spurs. I got angry when he said that no autographs were allowed!! :madrun Those jerks kept me back a long distance and I was none too pleased.
There was a silver lining though. I got interviewed by Mr. Sears (?) of KSAT and Don Harris. I was so excited that I stumbled at my lines regarding how the SPurs will sweep the Kings. So folks, you might catch me on KSAT or WOAI tonight or tomorrow!! I will put up a few pictures later that I managed to take before they went inside. So until then---WE ARE SPURTACUS!!! :elephant
P.S. Where were all you SActo SPurs fans? I was the ONLY one there with a GO Spurs GO sign.
-
Re: Pissed in Sacramento
I'll look for your interview on t.v. :)

Re: Pissed in Sacramento

Don't take this the wrong way but if I were on the Spurs I wouldn't trust people coming up to me in Sac town. I am sure they just would reather be left alone I used to work at a 4-seasons in a major city and we had tons of teams in and we would sneek them in and out threw the back door. They are so bothered all the time by fans they just want to be left alone at times.

Re: Pissed in Sacramento

Re: Pissed in Sacramento
What sucks about Sacramento, along with the other things,
their airport, is Literally, prob 8 miles from downtown.
Their arena is that far from it. But they are both out in the middle of nowhere.
your driving along flat land, then all of a sudden, POOF, heres Arco, drive farther along I think its 80, and POOF theres an airport.
Im biased, I do business all month of August and part of September, and I cant stand the place when Im there.
So I cant say anything about Sac objectively.. :lol

Nice work efrem, you are a true fan (no, actually, a true fan would've knocked the security out with a taser and rushed the bus... no, that's "The Fan"... sorry). :lol
However, less of this please: "WE ARE SPURTACUS!" It sounds like Spurs fans are prone to premature ejaculation. :oops

For reference Ruff, I take that from the movie Spartacus with Kirk Douglas where he says "I am Spartacus!"

That kinda blows that the Spurs are stuck in a 727. When I fly into SAT for the Spurs/Mavs game, I saw the big 757 with the Mavericks tail. That is a sweet team jet and I'm sure Cuban has it all pimped out inside.
Quote:
But Cuban doesn't just try to market the Mavericks to fanshe's also constantly marketing the team to opposing players (who are potential free agents) and even to his own players (ditto). Because of the NBA's salary cap, there are limits to how much Cuban can out-pay other owners for his players. To get around that, he lavishes his team with perks, such as a $46 million Boeing 757 he bought to take the players on road trips. Cuban's plane features a weight room, catered meals, and a facility for trainers to provide medical treatment. Cuban also makes sure the team stays in the best hotels in town, he bought the players brand-new luggage, and he sends limos to pick them up during icy weather.
Damn, and the Spurs are traveling in an ancient 727. Step it up Holt.

Actually the Spurs have flown in one of the Mav's planes before.

I asked Gino about the plane on his message board.

He told me, " The plane was Ok, nothing incredible."
Granted this was the loaner plane. :lol

Hotel people mean business
Well, it looks as if the hotel people mean business. I got downtown at 11:30 a.m. this morning to take my son to the Spurs folks at the Hyatt. As we entered the lobby, I saw Van Exel and Finley be the last boarders of the charter bus heading for practice. When I started to take pictures of them entering the bus, a hotel man by the name of Patrick yelled at me and said that I was not to be on hotel property and told me to get out. He said I could wait at the sidewalk and try to call them over, but it would be from a great distance. Yep I am sure dissapointed. :depressed
-
Re: Hotel people mean business
Can't you put all of your hotel experiences in one thread?
-
Re: Hotel people mean business
I will do that next time. I am pulling the plug on the getting autographs at the hotel idea and maybe try to see them as they get on the plane tommorrow.
-
Re: Hotel people mean business
security is extremely anal these days, and especially during the playoffs.
Good luck in getting autographs, but I think your chances are slim.
-
Re: Hotel people mean business
You have to realize the entire reason for hotels to exist for a clientele like the Spurs is to give them a place away from harassment. That's what most hotels view their job as, when they host someone with any sort of name recognition.
-
Re: Hotel people mean business
Yeah, while it may seem rude, the Spurs are trying to get away and focus.
Hotel staff is more than likely following the orders of the team.
-
Re: Hotel people mean business
Dude you should of made a little sticker for your shirt "SPURSTALK MEDIA PASS" lol
:)
-
Re: Hotel people mean business
you might as well give up. you aint getting any autographs.
-
Re: Hotel people mean business
Dude, the hotel is home for the players on the road. Would you go stand in their driveway for an autograph? If your answer is yes, you need therapy. Leave them alone.

Wow. Posting pictures of the plane had nothing to do with trying to show your team up. It had to do with people were talking about it, so I found pictures of it. The end.
