We just moved to a new improved server (that's why the forum has been down the past couple hours), so I hope so.

I don't deserve the praise. The person doing the bulk of the work on the server is a guy with whom I have created an IT company and is on this forum under the name of Muki.

I'm doing more work on the forum itself and he's in charge of the really difficult bits: Server and network.

hmmmm...I tried to log on about 6:15 and it wouldn't let me...but a few minutes later all was well. Must have just hit it wrong...

It was superfast when I first logged on at 7:30 this morning. Now it's slow as molasses and sometimes the page won't load at all. But it could be our connection.

Is there a thread somewhere for the admins to list known issues and collect potential new ones regarding the new server?

For example, the search utility is gone. I assume you already know about that and have plans to reinstitute it?

there's a thread called testing testing, that we used earlier for this.

You can use that thread or you can always PM me.

The Search feature is disabled temporarily. That's because it's one of the features that take up a lot of resources. The worse we have found out so far are threads with 2000+ posts (the quattro is so bad we had to prevent even access to it).

The search feature will come back (probably after tonight, when we'll get a good feeling what this new setup is capable). In the next few days we'll try to find a solution for the long threads as well.

There will be a period of introduction for this new setup, because we want to understand was causes problems and what doesn't. Then we can address those problems. That's something that was almost impossible on the previous machine.

In theory the sigs shouldn't influence the servers performance (but they did) we'll leave them on but it's going to be one of the first things we'll switch off if/when we get in trouble

Another possible glitch... I can't log out. I have multiple personalities that demand equal time on the board and I can't log out so they can get in. It's very stressing, and I think I'm starting to hear the voices again.

me too, it;s been hit and miss for me today.
sometimes super fast.... some times it hits a hiccup.

not sure if thats me or the server.

The time of slowness earlier today might have been when the google bot was here scanning the Quattro.

I haven't had any slowness at all for the last 3-4 hours. I don't know about anyone else.

Pages load up in a matter of seconds...maybe 3-4 max ..so far so good!

Just to clarify. The pictures in the posts do not come from our server, so if some of those are slow it's not us.

is it just me or is the server a little slow a few mins ago?

I have dial up so it might just me but it seemed it was fine and then got a little worse

seems pretty fast now, but just before the half it seemed slower. sorry about the false alarm

Although the Quattro is now dead I do appreciate the work you guys put in to make this forum run smoothly.

Most users ever online was 1027, Today at 09:04 PM.

hey Kori I cant logout either. When I do, it says "Error while logging you out, Click Here to Logout" and I click there and im back to where I was previously and im still logged in.

I'll have Slomo/Muki look into the logout thing.

hey Kori, I just used (and currently using to write this response) Netscape and when I logged out, it was successful. Also logging back in was a success. I went back and used IE to logout again, and that still didnt work.

I'm on IE and it works fine. So I don't know.

I don't know anything about the server, software, etc. So you have to wait for Slomo or Muki to find out.

That's a strange error.

Can you try and delete all your cookies manually (or if you have a probelm with that, then delete just the spurstalk.com cookies)?

I tried to log in/out with IE, FF, Netscape and Opera - and it worked fine. I tried it with two different accounts.

We'll look at the logs later today, but it sounds like a local problem.

If you don't know how to delete the cookies in your browser post in this thread or PM me.

Let me just add that this is a known (and in hindsight, expected) problem. So everybody who can't logout, please delete your browser's cookies first. Logout should work fine after that.

The new server seems fine. Can we re-enable search now that the server load has died down a bit?
