3. Lakers: Best coach in the NBA (Jackson), best player in the NBA (Bryant) and a supporting cast that doesn't get enough respect.
4. Utah- leading candidate for this year’s MVP (Boozer), great coach (Sloan, emerging superstar PG (Williams)- thoroughly dominated the Spurs.
5. The Spurs
The Spurs are not as good as either of these teams right now. Nevermind the it’s early crap- we’re a third through the season and San Antonio hasn’t proven they can beat these teams. They needed an 11 for 11 night from Oberto to beat Phoenix who were still integrating Amare at the time. Boozer is a better player at this stage of his career than Duncan. A healthy Kirilienko kills us and Deron Williams is light years ahead of Tony Parker. What’s more alarming is that the Spurs could have won these games but were OUTCOACHED down the stretch by their opponents- Pop’s fourth quarter line-up vs Dallas, Pop’s calling four down twelve straight times against Utah, Pop going small against the Lakers etc……
If I were you, I would seriously think about lowering expectations for two reasons; a) I used to think Tim Duncan could make up for Pop’s stupidity- he’s just not that good anymore and b) Gregg Popovich is scary stupid.
Same shit as last year- we’ll make the playoffs and lose a close series to one of the these four teams mainly because our coach can't make in-game adjustments. Seeing Duncan turn into a scoutmaster last night and get violated by the likes of Kwame Brown just makes things worse.
Who else would LOVE to see PJ Carlesimo coach the Spurs for at least 15 games? If, for no other reason that to just see what could be different? Pop has lost sight of the forest throught the trees. Do you really think Avery Johnson would be starting Jerry Stackhouse if he was shooting 30%?!
:tu :tu I wish more Spurs fans could be like you. you know your shit. Props! :downspin:
Re: Where the Spurs stand as of now
The Spurs clearly aren't the favorite anymore.
Some of you smoke to much Pop dick sometimes.
Step outside Pop's underwear sometime and watch a fuckin game.
The Spurs aren't that good anymore.
Re: Where the Spurs stand as of now
Yup, total overreaction. If we do this sort of thing in mid-Feb I'll start worrying. Pop is still tinkering with the team and will be until well into January.

As for the racial slurs and sense of entitlement because you're a yank, get over yourself. When was the last time the US won an international basketball title? Does that suggest to you that maybe people from all over the world know a little about the game? Wanker.

Okay, I apologize for the Polish remarks
Re: Where the Spurs stand as of now
I know its just one loss, but they definitely aren't going to win the championship as of now. I would still have said that even if they had won. They have a lot to improve on.

You're calling me a fucking douche-bag because I used an "e" instead of an "i"?
First, that would be a spelling issue, not a grammar issue, your fucking inbred ass-munching bastard.
Fucking mavs fans, always jerking off on their keyboards as they try to post.

Ouch. Dallas gets blown out in Utah as Sloan gets his 1000th win. Less than 11 hours pass and these rankings get water poured all over them.
Re: Where the Spurs stand as of now
lol, this shut everyone up.
Then we'll lose, then they'll come back. Then they'll shut up... Oh the life of Spurs fans.
Re: Where the Spurs stand as of now
1. Utah 16-5 .762
2. San Antonio 16-6 .727
3. Phoenix 14-6 .700
4. Los Angeles Lakers 14-6 .700
5. Dallas 14-7 .667
Re: Where the Spurs stand as of now
Lakers are good but no way will they stay a fourth seed. I hope they get matched up with Dallas in the playoffs though!
Kobe would go insane.

So the Spurs were the shit in 2004-2005 when they were 17-5 at this exact same point? As opposed to them being 16-6 now? Or how about when they were 13-9 in 2002-2003. I bet you were on the verge of cutting your pecker off, or atleast trying to find it so that you could then cut it off.
First 22 games:
2002-2003: 92 PS 88 PA (13-9)
2004-2005: 96 PS 85 PA (17-5)
2006-2007: 100 PS 91 PA (16-6)
Re: Where the Spurs stand as of now
Buddy Holly highlighted another key stat in that barrage - point differential, which is still high for the Spurs - tops in the league.
