Re: What Would We Have To Give For Gasol?
Gasol is my favorite non-Spur but I doubt he goes anywhere, he's one of the most underrated players in the NBA and is a top 10 talent. Look at how bad the Grizz are without him!
I want him here no doubt but I accept that no way we'd get him without ditching Parker, Ginobili, Duncan, or Bowen.
Why would we ever trade Parker?! Ginobili would be gone before Parker, and I don't want our core to go away.

Exactly what I was going to post.
Re: What Would We Have To Give For Gasol?
Um, earth to those with questionable sanity:
1. why would Mem give away their franchise big?
2. why would we gut our team? (balance is important, as we all learned last year)
3. it's the era of small ball again! Why would we want Twin Towers? We did that at the right time and owned the league, we do it now, and trade our all-star guards to get it done, and we'd be a bubble team at best!
:wtf
Re: What Would We Have To Give For Gasol?
some crutches so his broke ass could half ass walk to san antonio

I think this is the crux of the argument here. Even if the Spurs decided to offload Manu and Parker to get Gasol, it wouldn't make sense as the dynamics of the NBA have changed to favor perimeter players. Dominating post players are less important in this day and age. And Gasol is a damn good player, but not the type of player who alters the landscape of a basketball game just by being out on the court.
Re: What Would We Have To Give For Gasol?
Gasol is KG, minus the tan. They tease, they tantalize, they put up nice numbers, but when you need a franchise player to step up, they fade. I wouldn't trade ANY of our bit three for Gasol, and would have a hard time with key role players.
Re: What Would We Have To Give For Gasol?
No thanks :td Gasol is all hype and no substance (at least when the chips are down).
Re: What Would We Have To Give For Gasol?
Gasol is good. Similiar type of player to a young Duncan, minus the defense. Similiar type of player offensively in terms of production.
Re: What Would We Have To Give For Gasol?
mem would have to trade him if he demanded to move

...except during crunch time.
It's not so much that they haven't advanced past the first round. It's the fact that they've gotten the broom up the ass for three years running. How can you not even take a game in three years of first round series? That's fucking pathetic.
What could SA do to get Gasol?
I am not one to propose ridiculous one sided trades but this snipit caught my eye. David DuPree has never come across to me as a 'Vescey' type source. Let's assume he's correct what in the hell would we have to offer the Griz?
Long Beach, CA: Hello Mr. Dupree. What's your take on the sudden Kobe Bryant one game suspension for the alleged intentional elbow on Manu Ginobili. Which team do you think will acquire Pau Gasol and Eddie Jones before the February deadline. Thanks! Chris
David DuPree: It looks like Eddie Jones is already gone to the Heat, but Pau Gasol is a different matter. He is a real difference maker and will command a lot. Chicago and San Antonio appear to be the hottest after Gasol, but he could end up darn near anywhere because of his age, overall ability and size.

Hmmmmmmmm, That's A Dream. But I Don't Think Will Ever Happen.
But On A Positive Note: I Love That First Comment You Got On Your Sig! What Interview Did That Come From???
Re: What could SA do to get Gasol?
Outside of giving up one of the big 3, or 1st round draft picks for the next 3 years, nothing

I believe it was in a Sacramento Bee article. I remember reading it and thought man that would be a bad ass sig..
Re: What could SA do to get Gasol?
How can San Antonio be hot after him? With what?

THANKS.
IN THE WORDS OF BORAT: "VERY NICE!"
Re: What could SA do to get Gasol?
I would trade any combination of anyone not named Duncan and either Manu or Parker.
The chance to get a world class big man to recreate the towers does not come around often.
Re: What could SA do to get Gasol?
Just an information to start some crazy speculation : West and Paxson were in France today to watch the game between Kaunas and Pau and we all know who play at Pau. ;)
Re: What could SA do to get Gasol?
I am sure the Spurs are interested in Gasol but they will not get him without giving up at least Manu, which won't happen... I wonder where these rumors come form...
Re: What could SA do to get Gasol?
This is one of those trades where there is no way Memphis is going to get anything close to equal value.

Interesting... maybe the Spurs are in talks with Memphis about other players!? I can't imagine that they really consider trading Gasol to SA...

yea he is demanding a trade and wants out. This reminds me a lot of the shaq deal. They will get on decent player and some scrubs. Maybe a pick.
