Manu is our only "all-star calibur" wing player, which every successful team needs. Now, if they could get him for Gasol, and then go out and get a similiar type player, that'd be fine, even if Ginobili is second favorite player after Tim.
Quality wing players are a lot more common than quality big men.
I dont understand wher these threads come from, if we couldnt get Maggette, what are our chances of getting an all-star?
Cause there was no way we give up one of the big 3 for Maggette. That would not have been worth it by any standards.Quote:

I proposed the trade in another thread and the numbers work. Manu to Golden State, Jason Richardson to Memphis, Gasol to SA with other players and maybe pick here and there.

$86 million? When I get Fancy Feast for dinner.
Um, why the fuck would the Spurs want Pau Gasol? Was Brad Miller unavailable?
I agree with that. I can't imagine that the Spurs would really be willing to give up any of the Big 3 or to take on a monsterous salary for a guy like Gasol, who might create more problems than he would solve while bringing the sort of Stay-Puft softness that the Spurs have tried to avoid for so many years. For $86M, you get a lot of nice regular season numbers followed by a playoff MIA.Quote:

Crazy, but if the Grizz were really looking to dump Gasol, if the Spurs were really willing to take on a huge commitment like Gasol's contract and if the Grizz thought that highly of Mahinmi it could work.Quote:

Successful Scenario
Due to San Antonio and Memphis being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. San Antonio and Memphis had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
If we offerred to throw in all our picks and draftees, they might hang up the phone before they laugh.
Eighty-six million dollars? Now that's a contract.Quote:

I thought Gasol in the playoffs against the Spurs, played pretty friggen good.
He rebounds well, can block shots and has a nice back tot he basket game, but also can shoot the jumper.
More than likely though, this is all poppycock though.
<What could SA do to get Gasol?>
NOTHING - THEY DON'T NEED HIM SINCE HE PLAYS THE SAME POSITION AS TIMMY and IS ALSO SOFT; see KG is a different story... :lol :lol :lol
Pau Gasol? Now that's a 26yr old perennial all-star with 20/10 capability....Quote:

I can't believe all the haters on this forum. Though Pau is not a leader, he can flat-out dominate on offense.
The Grizzlies won't "dump" him for anything less than high draft picks/top-level prospects
I'd give the house to bring KG to SA.Quote:

If the Spurs were to get Gasol, he would want the pink back in the logo.
34pts, 8rebs, 8blks in his last game....yeah you're right, he couldn't be dominant...Quote:

Um, see my first post in this thread. He had your "dominant" performance at home against BRAD MILLER. Doesn't exactly make your case for you. You obviously haven't watched him play if you are reciting stats to refute a "soft" label.Quote:

Yes, I've seen Gasol play and I know he prefers the mid-range shot and fadaways, but I don't see how his lack of "toughness" translates into lack of production.Quote:

In regards to Gasol disappearing in the play offs, he has had to be the main big in the past. Pressure on him would be less with Duncan who is quite comfortable stepping up in the playoffs. Gasol might well shake that monkey off his back with Duncan by his side. It's fun to dream but I would be shocked, shocked I say if Gasol ended up wearing the silver and black.
I watched the game and must say I liked the way Mahinmi played.Quote:

He still have foul trouble issues but that's something he will fix with more PT and experience. I've seen him play a few times this year and that's the first time he looked that active to me.
I don't know if he'll be ready next year, maybe/probably one more year with a bit more PT in Europe would be fine, but for those who can't see him play, you can have good hopes on the kid.
