I don't know if he'll be ready next year, maybe/probably one more year with a bit more PT in Europe would be fine, but for those who can't see him play, you can have good hopes on the kid.
Thanks for the post..

great observation Bruno!
but I don't think they were there to scout Ian.
more likely they scouted Jonas Maciulis, who will be in the draft next year and who is one of the MIPs of this euroleague season.
(btw. he would also be an interesting pick for the Spurs, since he will likely be there in the second round. Maciulis sometimes reminds me on Nocioni with his aggressiveness and fearless enforcer game)
Aaron Miles and Jankunas might also have got some interest from the scouts.
if they in fact have scouted Ian, I would wonder a bit, because they both have young players with similar talents, but more upside (Thomas, Warrick, Swift)
however. let's just hope that something is going on between West and Paxons and that the Spurs are included in the talks. both have so many interesting players for the Spurs, if it take Mahinmi to get one of them, I didn't hesitate a second. (Khryapa, Duhon, Nocioni, Warrick, Atkins, Lowry, also Jones and Roberts to a lower degree)
(and I agree that Mahinmi looked better last night than in the previous games, when he was a desaster. if they scouted him, he did make a case for himself)

You should have missed my second psot in this thread. :)

More likely it has nothing to do with a trade, there are a lot of interesting players to see in this game. There are some really good prospects in Pau (Ajinca and Vaty) and in Kaunas (Maciulis and Kalnietis). There are too older players wiht a nba level like Aaron Miles.

Mahinmi has played better for one month except one week ago when he and other players of his team have played with a stomach flu.

yes, sorry, my bad.
in fact, I just read the quote about West and Paxon in France.
about Zalgiris.
they might be the youngest team in Euroleague history, look almost like the youth team of Zalgiris.
and they do have quite a pool of talent. we can also add Vladimir Stimac to the players with NBA potential.
don't know, if he will be in the draft this year (unlikely).
some thoughts about Maciulis. what do you think. should the Spurs pick him, when he is there in the second round? I like him a lot. and considering his stile, I guess the fans would love him soon.
sure, he is a bit undersized for an NBA small forward (who plays like a PF sometimes), but similar to Nocioni, he makes up for it with his fighting spirit.

Re: What could SA do to get Gasol?
At a minimum, the Spurs need a consistent 4th scoring threat, someone who can hit from the outside, take it inside, and rebound a little. Bonzi Wells would've been a bit cheaper than Gasol for that.

Funny, I could swear you brought up that specific game, not me. :rolleyes

I might agree with you if you could get him for nothing, but you have to trade one of two guys with a track record of getting it done at the end of big games. Who you gonna give up to acquire a stat-padder who doesn't step up when it counts?

Well according to you, I guess it was you that referenced Brad Miller and the Sacramento game first, so I could swear you were wrong for swearing....

Well I was never any good at math but if you trade one of the two, that still leaves you with one right?
Tony + Duncan + Gasol > Tony + Duncan + Manu....the stats don't lie.

Let's see if you can follow along. Brad Miller is soft. Pau Gasol is almost as soft. Pau Gasol had a great statistical game against Brad Miller. Whoopity do. When is the parade? His numbers mean he has talent, not that he's a winner. See Stephon Marbury or Chris Webber.

Yes, if you have two big game performers, and you trade one big game performer for Pau, that leaves you with one big game performer and one stat padder. I'd rather have Manu thanks, and I'm shocked if you'd be willing to give him up for statistics.

Manu, Barry, Beno, Oberto...............
Manu would have to in it one way or another

Ok, sorry for all the sarcasm. Let's just chalk it up to difference of opinion.

Gasol looking for a Title contender team.
I was looking to an articule in a spanish newspapper an intervew to Pau Gasol. He said to the reporter that The Grizzlies are having conversations right now to trade him eather inmediatly or by the end of the season.
He also said that while all the press is talking about teams like the bulls, nets,Heat and Celtics,he wants to go to a Title contender team.
In my opinion He wants to stay in the western conference
any teams???
the Spurs for example???

Re: Gasol looking for a Title contender team.
Nets? Celtics? Contenders? :lol

Re: Gasol looking for a Title contender team.
He's too expensive. We'll never get him. It would be badass though. We would be UNSTOPPABLE.

The Spurs CANNOT offer anything for him - q. frankly he plays the same position as Timmy - and he is a scorer as well - he needs touches during the game...The Spurs need more of a shot blocker and a GOOD rebounder at the center to help Timmy Duncan, who gets the touches at the low post and distribute the ball. Gasol wouldn't fit with the Spurs.

So,you think he´ll end up going to the Fakers?
I guess they´d love to have him too.

Re: Gasol looking for a Title contender team.
Chicago is the perfect place for Gasol : he will be a great fit with them and they have exactly what Memphis want (expirings + picks + young players).
Tyrus Thomas + Knicks 07 pick + Sefolosha should be enough to get him (Chicago cna take too Cardinal or Stoudamire bad contracts).
Hinrich/Gordon/Deng/Gasol/Wallace with Nocioni as 6th man is a scary team.

Pau puts up over eight boards and two blocks per...

Re: Gasol looking for a Title contender team.
I think they(Pau and TD)could be the new version of the twin towers.

Re: Gasol looking for a Title contender team.
Grizz wouldn't be stupid enough to trade him inter-ivision

Chicago won't trade the Knicks pick. It has a HUGE chance to be Oden.
