Not bad I thought, had a pretty turn around. Got a little cocky I guess and took that ugly hook shot instead of passing...Ill give him a B for his first showing...thoughts?

I'm not willing to evaluate a guy on seven minutes. :lol
... and in garbage time, to boot.
He looked lost, anxious and nervous. Pretty much on par for a first performance.
He looked lethargic, sleepy, one time he basically walked down court alongside our PG bringing up the ball. First impressions count, his wasn't very positive.
I thought Ely ran downcourt like he hadn't gotten his feet all the way into his shoes. You know...sort of that slidin' along with your heels exposed type deal.
Knowing Pop, we may not see the guy the rest of this season.
Until the Playoffs when he throws curveballs at Dirk.Quote:

I don't think he was merely a cap move.
Whos spot is he going to take is the question? Backup Beno or oberto
He seemed comfortable banging bodies though..

I'm actually surprised there isn't a post screeching at Pop for putting Ely in the game instead of Butler.
My main observation is that if Ely is 6'10 then Horry must be about 7'2.
:wtf I don't think he looks short.Quote:

I saw Ely listed as 6'10 and that's obviously not the case...Horry's got 2 inches on him at least.
He measured 6'9 no shoes/6'10 shoes. I'll look at them next to each other close up in the locker room and see if Horry's that much taller than him. I don't think so. Maybe Melvin just hangs his head.Quote:

Was probably when they went to a sideline shot...I'm not sure I just know he was standing next to Horry at some point and was noticiably shorter, at least from what I saw...and I took into account that it could be a funky angle.Quote:

Oberto definitely looks undersized for a C...
I think he's got to be an NBA 6'10 if he measure 6'9 no shoes. In that same pre-draft camp, Boozer measured 6'7 3/4 no shoes and he lists at 6'9.
Anyway, I don't care about 1 inch or if he's shorter than Horry in Ely's case. He has a nice wingspan and standing reach.
I watched the Toros game instead of the Spurs game last night and feel qualified to say Melvin looked great out there.

They're gonna slow down video of last night's Houston game for Ely today, and he's going to get it broken down for him, and after his 7 minute tryout was shown for God-avitch and all to see, the staff will begin to describe Pop's expectations of what his role will be, then he can sit next to Butler during games and make sure he's ready to go no matter how long he has to wait. Butler will then have a chance to point out to him that that fuzzy streak of lightning raining down 3's and playing hustle defense the other night called B.Udrih, had to do a zillion DNP's (or it seemed like it!) and that that's how it goes. Then Barry will proceed to tell him in a funny way kinda the same experience. Then Timmy will sit next to him during video time for about 30 seconds, pat his back, and tell Melvin that Uncle Rob's available anytime for pointers!
agreed.Quote:

Leave it to Boutons to give a bullshit evaluation.
Leave it to T_pork to be (400 pounds) full of shit.
With that wingspan, does anyone know about his shotblocking prowess?Quote:

Typical.
Looked to me like he has the body size to be the 'banger' under the boards that this team has missed. I hope so. The FO and coaches have liked him for a while according to reports so let's see if he has the necessary attitude.
As to his time on court, we all know Pop moves in mysterious ways. Who expected newcomer NASR to put Rasho on the bench during the playoffs a couple of years ago.
Wasn't Rasho hurt more than anything?Quote:

Yes, I've noticed that too, exstatic.Quote:
