April 15th: Spurs at Mavs : It's like no other game
April 15th seems so far away, and no other match up in the NBA has my heart racing.
No other game has me looking at the clock during game day counting down the minutes.
No other game has me wash and iron my game gear.
No other game has everyone at the bar mesmerized for every minute of the game.
No other game makes me smoke a pack of ciggs and drink 10 beers in one night.
No other game makes me cheer louder or feel prouder.
No other game, is like a Spurs vs. Mavs game.

Re: April 15th: Spurs at Mavs : It's like no other game
Not going to matter much. Both teams will not care . The playoffs is what they are focused on. If the division or top seed was at stake then it would matter.
-
Re: April 15th: Spurs at Mavs : It's like no other game
Mavs probably will barely play their starters.

Re: April 15th: Spurs at Mavs : It's like no other game
Ain't gonna matter diddley squat at that point. Just hope nobody gets injured.
-
Re: April 15th: Spurs at Mavs : It's like no other game
The two seed might still be attainable. It will be interesting to see if Avery plays his starters significant minutes. Maybe to send a message? It would be stupid to risk injury in a meaningless game.

Talk about bursting someone's bubble :lol

Re: April 15th: Spurs at Mavs : It's like no other game
And some retarded Maverick fans (coughAmareloomscough) think the Spurs aren't a threat.
There is no game like Spurs vs. Mavs.
-
Re: April 15th: Spurs at Mavs : It's like no other game
Mavs just better keep praying for us to win or for Utah to lose.
If the Jazz get the 3 seed then y'all are gonna have to deal with SA and Phx to get back to the Show. Otherwise just one of us.

No one said the Spurs aren't a threat...the Mavs barely beat em last year and probably wouldn't have if Flopnobli didn't make the DUMBEST foul in basketball history. Spurs are a great team and so are the Mavs. If they meet it's gonna be a battle :elephant

Here is a man with some smarts. Best thing for the Mavs is for the Suns and Spurs to keep winning. Hell even if the Suns and Spurs make some ground as long as the Mavs finish one game infront of em it's all that matters :elephant

Agreed. I wouldn't be surprised if Jacque Vaughn started for Tony.

I swore that Amarelooms was a Suns fan at first. that would explain the name. Well by Apr 15 nobody will really care unless the race tightens, which probaly wont happen since the Mavs fatalitied the Lakers and probaly wont look back now, and the Spurs will be busy fighting off the Jazz and trying to catch up to Phoenix simultaneously.

And they wonder why we clown them when we talk about the Regular Season. Who gives a shit if the Mavs finish one game ahead in the regular season?
PRESSURE=MavNots

Re: April 15th: Spurs at Mavs : It's like no other game
It's really not that big of a game...Spurs win? Who cares. Mavs win? Who cares. It's not a test for either team. Of course, I'll be happy if the Spurs win. I won't mean much though.
-
Re: April 15th: Spurs at Mavs : It's like no other game
What if the Mavs are at 69 (or 70) wins before the Spurs game? :) Mavs have to go 17-1 (or 18-0) for this to happen.
If the Spurs are still in the #2-#4 fight, we'll have a good game.
I have a feeling AJ will welcome a loss or two in the next few games. They can't be caught anyway, and a loss or two will take the pressure off a 72-win chase.
-
Re: April 15th: Spurs at Mavs : It's like no other game
Spurs may be playing to win due to seeding issues but the mavs will be playing not to get hurt. I see the Spurs beating the Mavs' skeleton crew.

That's what I was thinking. It will be WAY too close to the playoffs, and the Mavs will have everything wrapped up by then.

Re: April 15th: Spurs at Mavs : It's like no other game
well if botch Mavs and Spurs still undefeated, that would be one hell of a game

This game is going to be like having sex for an hour and not being able to come, a total fucking letdown.

Re: April 15th: Spurs at Mavs : It's like no other game
People keep saying how this game won't matter, but here's what will happen:
1. If the Spurs win, people will say it doesn't matter.
2. If the Mavericks win, people will say that it proves the Mavs are the greatest team in NBA history, and that the Spurs have passed the torch.
This game, whether the starters play or not, DOES matter.
Spurs have to tie the season series at 2-2 with Dallas and Utah, go 2-1 vs Phoenix, and they've already tied it at 2-2 for Houston on the season.
Regardless of who's missing or whatnot. My prediction is that the starters will play. Dallas had Dirk on the floor last night when Dallas had a 31 point lead: They are really out to prove something.

Re: April 15th: Spurs at Mavs : It's like no other game
hell yeah this game does matter and I don't see AJ playing his subs. he is a proud little general.
But Pop on the other hand will give volume minutes to Beno

I really couldn't care less, because the Spurs are the only other true contender. I have no doubts that the Mavericks will mangle the Suns in 4 or 5 games. I fear Utah alot more than I fear Phoenix...and I'm not too frightened over the Jazz. The Spurs are a whole other story.
-
Re: April 15th: Spurs at Mavs : It's like no other game
They should take the top 4 teams from each conference, seed them 1 through 8 based on records, and have 1 playoff bracket like that. Yeah it would be a shorter playoffs, and less money for the league...but we wouldn't have a pointless NBA series like a WCF with Phoenix in it.
1. Dallas
2. Phoenix
3. SA
4. Utah
5. Detroit
6. Cleveland
7. Washington
8. Toronto
But then again, 5th through 8th in the West = 1st through 4th in the East.

Re: April 15th: Spurs at Mavs : It's like no other game
I'm sure Avery will not risk losing before his bandwagonning, classless, cretinous trolls @home, so I'm pretty damn sure he'll play all his startres to win, and run up the score, too, even it Pop plays to lose. Runts like Avery often have Napoleanic chips on their feeble shoulders.
I think this idea of not playing healthy starters out of fear of injury stinks. Rest a marginally hurt player to get him ready for the playoffs, yes.
But over-protected health in season can disappear on the first possession of the playoffs.

What's this nonsense about *passing the torch* and having to beat the Spurs before the media gives them the ridiculous label of "greatest team in NBA history?" Seriously, how many times have the Mavericks beaten the Spurs in the last two seasons? This win would be nothing new, even if you'd like to believe that it would be. As for the greatest team in NBA history, stop being such a drama queen.
So, now about Dirk. AJ took him out with about 1-2 min. left in the third quarter and he sat from that point UNTIL THE END OF THE GAME, THE ENTIRE FOURTH QUARTER. Dang, this is like the 4-5th time a different Spurs fan has noted Dirk's minutes in last night's game ( < 30) ...check out the boxscore sometime.
Oh wait, it's just the same idiot posting the same idiocy about Dirk's minutes, my bad other Spurs fans. What was that b.s. last night about how the 30 point lead would be lost when Dirk sits?

You didn't comprehend what I said, but most Dallas homer morons can't.
I said the game is important, because every time Dallas wins, it gets exaggerated and we have people comparing them to Jordan's Bulls now. That is a laugh. No one outside Dallas sees Dallas as a title contender.

if mavs are trying for 70, you bet they'll come at it strong.

AJ won't even let dirk try for a triple double when he's soooo close, he yanks him from the game...he could give two hoots about *trying for 70*
