Vent: Spurs still one of the top 10 teams in the NBA:

It was a depressing loss, but the better team won tonight.
Boston is apparently the better team.
However, I still maintain that the Spurs are one of the top 8 or 10 teams in the NBA.
Obviously, back to back losses against the mighty Bucks and the very talented Celtics do provide a lot of ground to question that opinion, but it is still my opinion. Although our defense is not that good and our rebounding is not very good, we have a fighting chance, even against very talented and superior teams like the Celtics, when Tim and Tony play their very best.

WTF is the point of this?

It may be reaching, but some one has to try to say something good about the Spurs play the last couple of games and this was the best I could do. Perhaps, you have some sincere compliments that you could pay the Spurs regarding their last two games.

It took double overtime for the Suns to beat the Mavs and their other recent loss was after a 17 game win streak.

Unfortunately, your situation appears better than ours.

A 13 game win streak sounds good, even against bad teams, but it becomes less impressive when you lose to two teams in a row who have not won half of their ball games because you refuse to play defense, refuse to rebound and want to spot the other team a 15 point lead because you don't feel you are paid enough to play 48 minutes of basketball.

Therefore, Mavs4ever you may not be able to relate to how this Spurs fan feels.

Well, we did it again.

When we play defense and rebound, we are one of the best teams in the NBA and have a legitimate chance to win it all. When we decide not to play defense by giving up too many offensive rebounds for easy put backs, we don't win. When we take off the first and third quarters of games, we lose to talented teams like the Celtics.

It is mid March. Time to begin playing 4 quarters consistently, rebound well, defend well, play good help defense started a while ago.

I hope that this is not an omen, because if we think that we are going to win without defending and getting the defensive rebound, we are kidding ourselves.

Is it a problem of motivation? Because defensive rebounding and defense in general is just about effort.

Phx is losing and Utah lost tonight also. Dallas dropped 2 in the last week or so. It is hard to grind out wins in an 82 game season.

The Spurs will be in the playoffs.

He didn't seem to guard Paul Pierce very effectively.
So, Bruce must be in the game for his offensive skills.
I guess they figure that he is a great playmaker and scorer.

The good thing is that Pop did realize that Elson and Oberto didn't feel like rebounding or defending today and since they aren't skilled offensive players, pulled them and had to go small.

Only positive thing that might happen is that they will remember this loss like the loss to the Mavericks (game 7) and figure out what happens when you only play 2 of the 4 quarters and spot teams 15 point leads.

So, they might come out and prove how good they are by beating an Indiana Pacer team which has won 1 out of their last 10+ games. That will be very impressive.

On the other hand, if the Bucks and the Celtics can beat the Spurs (Celtics can do it in our own gym), then who is to say that the Pacers can't do the same thing.

streaks are, by definition, bound to end sometime.... people need to calm down.

I know Duncan shot @ 42% last night with 4 turnovers, but I still think one could make the case that he's in the top eight of our roster, maybe even top five.

The USA is still among the top third of countries.

This is a dumb thread. No shit that they are one of the top ten. They are still unquestionably in the top 2. The Suns aren't even close. The Suns may be a very dangerous team, but they cannot, and will not win a title with their shitty defense and rebounding. Allowing 111 points in 3 quarters is just outrageous. The Spurs will beat the Suns in the WCSF in 6, maybe 5.

Pierce is like Duncan. He's not terribly athletic, but he's fundamentally sound. His pump fakes and jab steps are perfectly executed. He's not terribly fast though, and he doesn't really jump that high. He knows how to take a charge and box out though; that's why I'd consider him a tougher cover than, say, Kobe

this thread made me laugh...we had a couple of brain farts these past 2 games...we'll be ok. 82 games (far too many games IMO) is a long time to prepare yourself for the "real season". lapses are inevitable.
