Finally got first points tonight. Should be starting :rolleyes
I see that he is in the game. After the game is over, please say what you thought of his play.
White > Bonner, Beno, Oberto.
Dude should be starting over Bruce Bowen.
No reason for multiple threads.
There's a game blog and another White thread.
Is this his first action of the season?
YesQuote:

is white jeresy number 0 or 33?
Nice Dunk to end it...that was sweet
I'm glad Oberto got that pass to him. It was going to be a shame if he couldn't dunk in this game.
He's number 33.
I love White people!
james effin white
Can you believe I watched every freaking second of garbage time until the very end, just to see him dunk, and missed it?
:madrun
His D kinda sucked though.
I hope Pop gets him some more PT. Although it was garbage time, he didn't look lost like Ely and Butler do. He also mixed it up a bit inside to try and grab some boards.
He had a sweet 1handed oop
I truly cant believe that, you were talking about the whole time he was in then missed it, kind of funny thoughQuote:

DVR dude. You must have it and League Pass to take full advantage of all that Spursdom has to offer. :smokinQuote:

The spittin image of Stephen Jackson -- both looks and movements. Probably attitude as well. Headband, check. Glazed eyes, check. Next year he probably hits a bunch of 3s to clinch the championship. Then he leaves.
C'mon, guys. Can you spare a brotha a youtube?
He has a ways to go. Gets little to no seperation from defenders and didn't show the strength to penetrate. But for his first game, not bad.
He looked great... he was playing with Bonner, Beno and Oberto... The 3 stooges...Quote:

It was nice to see a player for the Spurs step onto the court and be aggressive from his first minute. That usually takes about two seasons.
White looked pretty good for a rook. Needs work defensively
Not to mention that White passed up a possible dunk attempt to pass it out to Beno, who bricked the bunny.
do you think pop will hold on to him
White said in post-game on radio that Oberto told him during the timeout if he got it on the low block, to look for the ball because he was going to put it up there for him (James).
Defensively James rotated sort of okay, but he was slow to close-out well on the 3 point shooters. He had inefficient, extra motion to get out on them. James scored 9 but gave up 12.
I was going to post on Beno's myspace last night, but I couldn't stop laughing and I didn't know what to say because there are a bunch of spammer messages on it... :lol
And then his friend pics looked like a bunch of hootchy mammas... What a got damn tool...
Beno has got to go... :lol
Agree.Quote:

timvp is right, the best thing about him is that he was aggressive. But not overly so, and except for one possession where he dribbled out the clock was contributing to good ball movement.
Certainly, I think he showed enought that we'd all like to see him during meaningful minutes.
I replayed that shot like five times to try to figure out WTF happened. It just looks like Beno missed the basket by about 14 feet.Quote:

He looked enthusiastic enough. He kept the mental mistakes down, and he knows how to penetrate.
But I didn't see it in him. To me he looks like a poor imitation of Devin Harris. He can't rebound. He literally had two rebounds in his hands taken away from him. He can't hold his position. He's afraid to shoot at any range, which will make him an easy scout.
Its just a guess, but I don't see him staying in the league very long.
he just didnt have any effort when closin them out i agree just put one hand up and then clappin in disappointment when then where made isnt going to cut it
but he was crashin for boards on dee and offensively
To me, he just showed that he's worth an invite to camp next year. It's probably too late for him to do anything else other than play garbage time minutes this year.Quote:

Very active. Offensively aggressive. Pounded the rock too long on one possession. Needs some work defensively and needs to learn how to box out under the glass, but a very impressive start. Loved his energy. I hope he sees the end of more blowout games.
:lol That's a lot of bold statements from one quarter. I don't get the Devin Harris reference. Harris is 6'2 point guard. White is a small forward with a huge wingspan.Quote:

Just my gut intuition. I like the kid, but am not seeing it.
Might want to watch him a couple more times. He's not a point guard, ball handler or small like Harris is.Quote:

Good debut. Hopefully he gets more PT. Bench Beno!
I'm cool with him wearing AD's old number 33. Just don't go choking anyone...........
he definitely deserves more garbage minutes.
White looked great. He rebounded. (Spurs need) He showed his ball handling skills when he went to the board for a layup.. (Spurs need) He brought the ball up the court once.. (>Beno) He stood in the corner...(Bruce Bowenish) He threw down... (Uh?? help me out here) He dropped some free throws... Dude was awesome.
:lol WOW! You got all that from 14 minutes of pt.Quote:

SilverPlayer - Devin Harris is the Mavs point guard. Where's the connection to a high flyer like White?
At this point, a jumper at this stage is not that crucial. Fist, the Spurs are chock full of jump shooters right now and what they need are more slashers. Second, a jump shot can be developed over the course of a couple of years, and the Spurs already have a guy on their staff who can help with that.Quote:

WTF? It's about got damn time... I'm sick of the same ol shit Pop is throwing out there. Also, he's not a got damn foreigner either.
To me, he's not like SJax. Stephen has horrible handles and is a very bad dribbler. And he's not really that athletic. And he's also much bigger than White (height and frame).
White looks like he has good handles, he's very light and he's just a really amazing leaper.
Sequ, he was okay but let's not get carried away. Stay with us and don't let your attention follow the shiny, moving objects too much.Quote:

Devin for his career averages 8.3 pts - 32.3pct for beyond the arc. Thats the comparison. The are going to use the same MO to do what they need to do in a game.
He just earned a 3 year contract.Quote:

If he can learn to use his athleticism for defense, rebounding, penetrating or anything other than a highlight reel dunk, he could be an NBA player.
F that give him malik's OLD contractQuote:

I watched the Warriors broadcast via League Pass. When White got a case of the dribbles and the incurred a shot clock violation, he ran back down court and immediately looked toward Pop's direction. Instead of getting upset, Pop grinned and winked at him.
the biggest flaw I saw is his lack of movement without the ball. Dude gets absolutely zero seperation.
a couple 3's hit in his grill but he got a hand up on both shots...Awesome game for the spurs back2back poundings dished out. 3rd quarter was exciting cuz i thought Bdiddy and Tony might go @ it for a sec
The styles are completely different. Harris' job is to relieve Jet Terry at the point while penetrating to break down defenses. That's what he does, but from the point position. He's not going to rebound, and he's not going to dunk.Quote:

Devin isn't supposed to impress you as a rebounder. He's a 6'3 point guard. You are right that he isn't a good 3-point shooter. But he's not a dunker either.Quote:

But I don't know how you concluded he's going to be a bad shooter when he only took one outside shot.
Anyway. I think a comparison to a light, athletic small forward who can't shoot from long range would have made more sense.
At first I thought maybe you meant Devin Brown and then I got really confused.
Does anybody remember when Parker was 18 and he lit up the summer league???
Uh hello!!! This is no fluke.
