Then you should say the same about the Spurs. The Spurs have actually been healthier than the Mavs.
The Spurs big 4 have played in just over 97% of the available games this year. The Mavs big 4 have played in just over 92% of theirs.
So by your theory, the Spurs luck should be running out soon too.

Not once, but twice this guy has quoted himself in his own post.

Wasnt Elson the only one to miss any significant time?

Dirk sprains his ankles all the time and keeps playing, so I don't think it's actually wear and tear - it's just Dirk.

you do realize that timmy had a monster series against the mavs last season in the playoffs, right? i don't think, even at 100%, he would've done much better, he was awesome.
btw, jho stayed in the game last night despite rolling his ankle and dirk didn't miss a game last time he rolled his ankle which was a lot worse than last night's roll

I have to disagree with you there Ponky, who knows how much better he might had done at 100%, he was hurt an worn down last year, its one thing that gives me hope this year. By the way, the Mavs must be slowing down, they only beat the Bucks by 2 :rolleyes

Both Dirk and Howard sprained their ankles early in the season, Josh missed 9 games because of that.
Did that slow them down?

i don't know about that. if you compare duncan's playoff stats last season with the 04-05 playoff season (taking into account that the spurs played ten more games in 05), there's not much difference, in fact, certain positive stats were higher in 06 than in 05!

I think those injuries are minor or moderate and I don't think this will jinx the team in anyway? Gimme a break..... :sleep
The thread is horrible for a lot of reasons.
First off, you said it would be poetic justice if they had to play hurt this year. That in itself is lame. Don't you want to see the teams at full strength? By the way, in last year's semi's, Manu and Timmy were pretty healthy. The person that was hurting was Tony (but that's irrelevant).
Secondly, if you know Dirk, you know he has rubber ankles. I have seen him roll ankle that rolls all the way over and touches the court .... and then play five minutes later. If the same roll happened to Manu, he'd be out for weeks. So when Dirk rolls an ankle, it's pretty much non-news and doesn't mean he's worn down.
Also, I don't question their ability to stay healthy. JHo and Terry were injured early in the season and they were tearing through the league. So even if their players are bumped and bruised as they head into the postseason, they aren't likely to slow down.

Say, does anyone know what the Spurs' record is right now?

4 or 5 wins short of where it should be if not for the lucky 1% dunk success rate of Dwight Howard and the few teams that were lucky enough to beat the Spurs by less than 5 points in January.

I gather by your response that this does not mean that the Mavericks are wearing down...That was essentially what I was getting at. Pardon my expression for wanting poetic justice...It means nothing. I see saying that caused more trouble than it was worth...

If you didn't say poetic justice, probably no one would have even responded to your thread :lol

I wonder what makes some people's ankles that way? I have the same fortunate "rubber" ankles - I never had to tape them for football or basketball growing up because if they rolled they would be just fine in a few minutes after a quick massage and walking around.

Dirk said turning the ankle slightly made his bone spurs (that he's had in there for awhile) rub together and it really hurt. He would have continued to play but Avery shut him down after seeing how much he was limping. Dirk said that they've been hurting for awhile and will continue to hurt for awhile...that he'd just have to deal with it.

Re: Are The Great Mavs Showing Signs Of Wear And Tear?
So did Josh and Dirk really get hurt? I'm confused. If so, that is too bad.
I have had a few minor ankle sprains- wouldn't wish that on anybody.
Now, if we were talking about mild Laryngitis over coming smack talkers.... :angel
