Duncan played that playoff run on two sprained ankles. He was probably better off with the plantar fiscitis in 06 than he was with the ankles at the end of 05.

First off, you said it would be poetic justice if they had to play hurt this year. That in itself is lame. Don't you want to see the teams at full strength? By the way, in last year's semi's, Manu and Timmy were pretty healthy. The person that was hurting was Tony (but that's irrelevant).
Secondly, if you know Dirk, you know he has rubber ankles. I have seen him roll ankle that rolls all the way over and touches the court .... and then play five minutes later. If the same roll happened to Manu, he'd be out for weeks. So when Dirk rolls an ankle, it's pretty much non-news and doesn't mean he's worn down.
Also, I don't question their ability to stay healthy. JHo and Terry were injured early in the season and they were tearing through the league. So even if their players are bumped and bruised as they head into the postseason, they aren't likely to slow down.

Re: Are The Great Mavs Showing Signs Of Wear And Tear?
Tim Duncan started game 7 going 10 for 10. Hurt ankle or not, can you get better than that? Duncan was awesome last year. He is the best power forward ever in my opinion. You guys have been blessed to see that quality of player for all these years. They don't come around very often. One side question, do you guys really believe in jinxes? I hear it mentioned a lot but I don't believe that stuff.

Re: Are The Great Mavs Showing Signs Of Wear And Tear?
it'll become cold hard fact if the spurs go out on thursday and duncan and ginobili get injured

Re: Are The Great Mavs Showing Signs Of Wear And Tear?
I don't really believe in jinxes. But I also don't think you should wish ill will on anyone, because I think eventually stuff comes back to you.

I only believe in jinxes from Spurdynasty threads, other than that, no

Re: Are The Great Mavs Showing Signs Of Wear And Tear?
Both teams at full strength is the only thing to hope for. That way, there's no excuses for the losing team and their fans. Or at least injury excuses. We all know that whether it's the Mavs or Spurs that lose, there will be a laundry list of other excuses. But hopefully no injury ones.

Re: Are The Great Mavs Showing Signs Of Wear And Tear?
It doesn't matter if Dirk and Howard are injured or not. The Mavs will still win the Championship. I GUARANTEE that.

Thats funny, you think that if Dirk and Howard were hurt playing the Spurs in the playoffs you still would guarantee a victory?

When you roll through the regular season, looking primed to dominate in the playoffs, with fans proclaiming Its their year, garunteeing the title in their sigs, ect.. then promptly getting the boot sometime before reaching the finals, you get back to me weather you believe it or not.... say in a few weeks when it happens to the Mavs? :spin

Or maybe he should welcome him. It could make for some humorous reading.
