Even as a Laker fan, I clearly agree. It is ludicrous for Kobe to be on any All D team for this season. Or last season. Or the one before that.Quote:

But that is a joke to even have an award if you are going to say he played better defense this year than Kirk Hinrich.

How is Kobe first team?
why don't they just let the coaches vote for DPOY? at least they have first-hand experience than some journalist who will just look at the stat sheet.
He's probably the best defensive point guard out there. Not Harris. Anyone remember when he held Tony to 6 points on about January? :spinQuote:

He´s the kind of player (retarded) who cares with this stuff, just like Camby...Quote:

But you're implying that they don't play any. Actually, you're not even implying. You're flat-out stating. Yeah, that's why they have a opponants FG% identical to the defensive minded Pacers, or one just .2% over that of Utah.
Also, remember that their percentage is skewed because they are such an average defensive rebounding team, allowing the third-most offensive rebounds per game. These rebounds generally are scored on as point-blank putbacks and layins, offsetting the initial miss they forced in the process.
I've watched this team for practically three seasons in their entirety and, without a doubt, this is their best defensive team yet. No, they aren't top-5, but they are borderline top-10. When you're as small and as skinny as the Suns are, I don't see how you can be expected to be much better.
Marion was fourth in the defensive player of the year voting. Do they have different voters for the effin' Defensive teams? The three who were voted above him each made the 1st-Team. How does his fourth-place finish barely even garner an honorable mention?
He has guarded PGs to PFs and, while not a great defender at any one position, his versatility is the key for whatever defense the Suns do muster up. He averages double-digit rebounds year after year, is consistantly in the top-5 in steals, averages more blocks per game than half the starting centers in the League and does so at 6-7, 225 pounds.
You can not like the way the Suns play, but make no mistake, they play defense. Maybe not all the time, and certainly not up to your elitist Spurs standards, but Marion and Bell bust their asses as much as any defenders in the League. Your pompous jackass stance is laughable.
Seriously. Get over yourself.
Spurs are the better team twixt the two. At least for now. They are such because they have the bodies to muscle up the Suns and expose their biggest defensive weakness: defensive rebounding.
In the next series, note how many initial possession misses the Spurs tally, then how many easy buckets are made off of offensive rebound putbacks.
And before you tell me true defense is not just forcing misses, but also getting stops, pray tell how Marion or Bell can/should do any more than each already does? How much more can each do, defending the likes of Kobe to LeBron, Dirk to Parker, Iverson to McGrady, Carmelo to Terry, and so on and so forth.
Defensive awards should be as much about effort as they are stats, and nobody can call into question either's.
I like the Spurs a lot and will always pull for them in the Finals, but sometimes the attitude of, "If it's not like us, then it's not even defense" is insufferable.
For the record, I don't think Bell deserved 1st-Team. I think Marion deserved 2nd, if not 1st, and Bell an honorable mention.
I believe that the head coaches vote for All Defensive Team and the Sportswriters vote for Defensive Player of the YearQuote:
