Anyone else notice Manu Ginobili participating in the wave last night? I think he did it twice as it came around. Didn't stand up just raised his arms but still pretty cool and fun to watch when you see players interacting with the crowd like that.

NO! I'll definately have to check the tivo for that one. That was the first time I've ever seen an NBA crowd do the wave, I thought it was cool.
Tim did it first... then Manu did it... but pretended like he was stretching... heh
I don't know. It looks to me like he's teaching someone how to flop :p: :lol

Mark Jackson said that when the fans started to do the wave that it set us back as a people. I thought it was pretty cool that everybody got into it including the Admiral.
"set us back as a people" :rolleyes I thought it was great, got the crowd into it.
Van Gundy is the only saving grace for that network right now, his commentary is the only reason I haven't watched every game on mute.
:clap he's the only one that doesnt talk out of his :donkeyQuote:

I liked that. Work to be done.
I noticed that too, at first I was like "what's up with Manu he looks pissed" but then I heard his comments after the game and he talked about how getting this far doesn't mean anything if they don't win the championship. He's got his mind on larger goals. :clap :ihitQuote:

^ Urkle
I saw that too and then even it looked like Pop and Tim were trying to force him up there but he wasn't going up there.
Whenever the comentary is REALLY biased like ESPN's is, I mute the TV and tune the radio to WOAI.... You don't have to hear about how great the other team is all the time....Quote:

Yep, I've done that too, sometimes there's a bit of a delay from the tv to the radio but it's still better than nothing.Quote:

Does anyone know who the commentators will be for the finals? As long as it's not Bill Walton I think I can handle it.........maybe.

Could you guys see the wave on tv?
Oh, Van Gundy is freakin' hilarious. I love'd it when Mark Jackson was saying how V.G. was re-enacting the plays on the court while sitting in his chair. :lolQuote:

I think there was a wave in Game 7 of the 2005 finals!! It was so much fun to be there and watching the way it went around a few times. I'll have to rewatch the game to see if Manu/Tim do it too. :)
anyone have a vid of the wave?
I was just going to ask, will someone please You tube it? I want to see it again. Thanks. :)
The wave on tv looked cool....but....soemtimes the AT&T center seems like a big outdated fest at times.
Yall ready for this?
The Wave
Bonner Raising the roof
mmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmm mmmmmm
oh well ill take the win
Mark Jackson's a legend in his own mind...surely they could've found someone better and more relevant. What audience are they trying to reach with him? I'm sure the kids are like, "Mark Jackson? WTF is that?"
The Wave is a blast.
"no reason to celebrate its only a conference championship"
People named Mark seem to have it out for San Antonians.
I didn't see it because i was turned away from the screen when it happened, does anyone have a link?
The wave is obviously a lot of fun at a big game. And YES, people still do the wave all of the time. I went to a Pro Football game and we were doing it there.
I dont think it was a big deal about what Jackson said, he was just making a joke
I'm from Milwaukee so the Packers are my team. They do the wave every game

The Spurs were enjoying the moment, but Bowen said it best during the presentation, the WC title is nice, but it's a stepping stone to what they wanted to accomplish, winning the title.
I was at the game and we were having a blast, especially the lady in front of me who had a few too many beers. The wave was awesome, though a little out of sync, there is more real estate to cover in the upper bowl compared to the lower, so they were always ahead of us just a bit.
I don't care what Mark Jackson thinks, the night was awesome.
i thought his comments were hilarious cause the wave is alittle dated, but if the fans are having fun who cares?
The first time i saw the wave was in Mexico '86. I think the Mexicans invented it.
haha thanks! :elephantQuote:

Whatever its origin, by the mid 1980s the practice was widespread throughout North America. It gained international notice during the FIFA Football World Cup in Mexico in 1986, hence the name Mexican wave. The best wave I've ever participated in was at the U.S. Open in New York last year while watching a Federer night match in Arthur Ashe stadium. 25,000 tipsy New Yorkers can really get a good wave going. The referee couldn't get the crowd to stop, it was really fun. :downspin:
we should do this next game
"The largest recorded wave was at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000 where 110,000 people made an inverse wave and two simultaneous opposite direction waves."
i've seen attempts to get a wave going at at&t, but this one was BY FAR the best i have seen. It took a couple rounds for everyone to get into sync, but it looked pretty badass. It was a good time in the game for it as well
I thought it was pretty awesome. I didn't think it would get going because I could only see the upper level people doing it the first few times, but we got into it after that.
Man this one old lady (she had to at least be 70) in front of us was awesome. She was doing all of the Silver Dancer moves when they would come out. And whenever a Spur hit a 3 she would look around and point at certain people in the crowd almost like a "what's up! Check that shit out!" type of gesture, it was awesome.
The fans last night overall were fucking awesome. I love being a Spursfan!
About when in the game did it happen?
I don't know is it just me or is Mark Jackson improving as a commentator? He still sucks, don't get me wrong, but I think he's improving. Commentating can't be that easy and he probably hasn't done it much this year? I dunno...it just seemed like he improved at least a little during this series.
Mann...it's times like these that I wish i was still back in SA. So I could do the wave with everyone...
Anytime Jalen Rose is working a game, everyone else around him becomes a broadcasting legend for the night.

i like parker acting like pop and sitting in the coaches seat calling plays... now that shit was funny!
the crowd in game 5 was the most entertaining this series. that wave was awesome.Quote:
