If they win their 4th title that puts them is some very good company, only the Lakers, Celtics and Bulls have won more. Just referring to the fact that Spurs and Detroit were the only teams in like 20 years that didn't win at least back to backs. Now add Miami to the list.
I get your point to a certain extent but comparing those pre-CBA dynasties to todays is not really fair. There is so much more parity in the league now. Just in the West, there are 4 or 5 legitimate contenders to make the finals next year.

It's just odd to me how the Spurs are in position to win the title only in odd years. It's almost like they need a year to recharge and refocus.

Plus, when they don't win the conference, they don't even make the conference finals. The Spurs are an oddity to me.
