He didn't give a shit about Pop being in the next series.
/discuss.
Why should he? They just won the ECF and are celebrating. He can start worrying about the opponent tomorrow.
Pretty classless answer.
Not very well answered.
But pops already turned the TV off, and is watching game film already.
Yea, let them celebrate.
...but I expect Mike to have a rude awakening tonight when it settles in.
Spurs vs. "Spurs of the East" in the Finals. The master will show the grasshopper how it's done.
well he better enjoy it
He answered the question incorrectly. Just out of respect he could have said 100 different other things and still be happy, celebrate and keep it cool with their fans.Quote:

What exactly was the question and what exactly did Brown say?
What did he say?
1-0 that I know of.Quote:
Pop sucks against ex-Spur coaches
Ernie: "next series is against the spurs and greg popovich... how do you feel for this series? " (somethign like that)
Mike: "I'm here to win for the team and for the city of cleveland" (and motioned his head like there was no doubt about it.
No disrespect intended towards Mike Brown, but Lebron makes him look like a much better coach than he really is.Quote:

Finals Coaching Appearances:
Mike Brown: 1
Don Nelson: 0
:lmao

"Well I love Pop he has taught me alot but come Thursday night may the best man win"
Something like that would have been nice but instead he basically said that he did not give a shit about pop or the spurs and that he was going to win a championship for cleveland oh well at least Pop already gave some recognition to brown and james
he doesnt need to s and d.Quote:
Mike Brown answered the question perfectly.
BUT,
a little respect to the guy that pretty much got you where you are?
Come on.
Let Mike enjoy this. This is his NBA Finals.
Personally, I don't agree with his answer. There were several other ways to answer that question that would show respect to your opponent without submitting to them and taking away from your current accomplishment and celebration. His answer, intentional or not, seemed to dismiss the fact that the Spurs are waiting.
Not necessarily awful, but not a good answer.

Why is anyone getting worked up over this? He just won the ECF. He should celebrate. He should be happy. In that moment, who the fuck is going to say anything other than we're going to try to win? Please. I'm sure that Mike Brown will not be underestimating the Spurs and I'm also sure that Pop will not underestimate him.
Spurs fans looking for yet something else to bitch about thread.
Eh, I thought he sucked on his answer too.Quote:

But yeah, he should give some respect to Pop, if he were asked the same question in a presser or something.
I actually think it was a stupid question for that moment in time, if you really think about it.
Mike Brown said, "I'm in it to win it!" Nothing wrong with that.

As a Spurs lifer, I am just glad the Spurs blood lines have been represented by coaches leading their teams to the NBA finals every year since 2003, including both coaches of both teams in 2005 and 2007.
Despite all the hate expressed for the Spurs, it is clear their corporate knowledge rules the NBA much more than the average fan has a clue.
Spurs and Cavs Rock! Lets enjoy the moment for the Cavs and get ready to rumble in support of our Spurs!
AJ beat Pop.Quote:

Being a Pop disciple you would think he would at least give an appropriate answer. Even Avery didn't go nuts, he at least acted in a professional manner.Quote:

Yeah but AJ wasnt an assistant coach with SA but I guess we can say we have problems with Ex-Spurs and dont forget Danny Ferry is the GM of SA even though that really has nothing to do with the game. I think I am just overthinking this series too much.Quote:

That's why I like Popovich, if the game is out of hand win or loose, He'll make sure the best players will be out of the game before the final buzzer.
I thought the whole Cavs thing was cute, like a high school team winning their league. Nothing wrong with that, no one expected them to win. Brown was...kind of inarticulate, but who cares. Them beating the Pistons was like us beating the Lakers. Pretty big deal!
Mike Brown is not a good coach. Trying to compare him to Pop or LB is laughable.
In terms of the question, i thought the answer was rude. He could have said "Hey pop is great but i'm gonna rip his head off."
What's with all the whining? Spurs Fans have a disrespect complex... I'm sure he'll give plenty of props to pop during the series, let him enjoy his win. Save the whining for the series when bron gets all the calls. Is this what happens when Spurs don't play and there's no calls to cry about? We start whining because the opposing coach said he's in it to win? :rolleyes
I thought his answer just was, kind of dumb. :lolQuote:

That can be said of all great players.Quote:

Pop understands it though, unlike Phil. He has always said that great players make great coaches...he never tries to become the center of attention...never tries to make himself look bigger than a Duncan etc.
Pop gets it, that is why he is great.

First of all, Mike Brown is a very good coach. Their team defense performs very well despite a distinct absence of very good individual defenders on that team. Look at their principal players:
LeBron
Gooden
Hughes
Ilgauskas
Pavlovic
Varejao
Gibson
Marshall
Snow
LeBron will get a couple of steals, but his man defense is below average. Gooden is an average defender. Ilgauskas is slow. Hughes is a pretty good defender. Pavlovic is above average. Varejao is active, but his flops can go either way. Gibson and Marshall aren't good defensively, and Snow used to be good defensively but he isn't any longer.
Yet as a team, Cleveland keeps points and FG% down. They obviously execute the defense v ery well, and that's good coaching.
To the main point, Brown was excited and in the moment. And he played to the crowd. Sure, Pop wouldn't have handled it that way, but Brown isn't Pop. I'll give up my kidneys if Brown doesn't praise Pop quite a bit in the next few days.
I wouldn't read much into something like that.
oh jeez give the guy a break. his team just gave the cleveland franchise it's first ever finals appearance. i think he's allowed a little bit of a celebration.
obviously, they'll both be dissapointed.Quote:

I still think some acknowledgments were in line from mike brown....in either case POP will acknowledge him soon

the spurs will win in 6
I found nothing wrong with his answer
Given the history of the Cleveland Sport's Jinx, the euphoria of winning the "Leastern Conference" and first trip to the finals in the history of the franchise is understandable. Get off Brown's case, the SPURS will win the series in 4 or 5 games. Slam-dunk, in-the-bag, done-deal, go-for-throttle-up......... :

And yes, I agree that LeBron makes him a better coach then he is.
Since it felt like Pop gave AJ a pass last year, I'm really glad Brown said what he said.
Such as Larry Brown? :rolleyesQuote:

Pop
Didn't we have a similar situation in the Super Bowl this year? And the Master won...

This thread makes no sense. He answered the question fine. Why should he care who he faces, he's here to win it. The very moment he says publically that he cares who he faces it shows weakness. I'm sure he and Pop will have plenty of sucking off moments when its all said and done.
Wow it's unacceptable that Mike said that he wants to win the Finals
:hang
